1. Before Using the Product 1. Before Using the Product About the Product This product is a PCI-bus compliant digitizer board. It is designed with the following features: 10-bit resulotion, up to 100MSPS (10nsec) conversion speed, sampling 2 channels simtaneously. In addition, it features with the PASS/FAIL judgment functionality by comparing input data with the setted standard data (mask data) one by one. The large (16M data) on-board memory and bus master transfer function allow continuous data acquisition to be performed at high speed for a long period. The automation of the measurement is facilitated by factors such as various sampling control and waveform judgment function based on mask data. The mask editor software is attached as a tool to generate comparison waveform data. You can create the waveform data by drawing on screen directly with mouse or drawing with mathematics functions (input numerical values). Moreover, you can make use of the supplied front panel soft as an oscilloscope or a waveform judgment instrument. In addition, Windows API is also supplied, so that you can also program in Visual Baisc or Visual C++. Features Free yourself from visual inspection. The inspected input signal can be automatically judged whether OK or NG. By comparing the sampled signal waveform with the pass range which is set beforehand, a pass or fail judgement can be done automatically with the waveform level. It is intended to not only save labor on present visual examination greatly but also improve/uniform the quality. Moreove, the Mask Editor Software is supplied as a tool to create comparison waveform data and is Windows exclusive use, by which the following operation can be done, drawing on screen directly/drawing straight line/sine wave with mouse, drawing constant voltage/ square wave/triangular wave/step//ramp/sawtooth wave with mathematics functions. Front panel software is suppiled that can be used as the oscilloscope or the waveform judgement instrument easily. The Front Panel Software, an application that makes an image of oscilloscope or waveform judgment instrument, is supplied. You can use it easily with no need of programming. Moreover, you can use it to check the configured execution environment, because it features the functionality of diagnosing and reporting the status of the board and device driver. 9 1. Before Using the Product Resolution 10bits, maximum conversion speed is 10MSPS (100nsec), with simultaneous sampling of 2channels at a time A 10bits high-speed A/D vonverter is used, the measurement at the highest conversion speed of 100MSPS(10nsec) is possible. It is possible to sample 2 channels simultaneously. Moreover, it is equipped with a mass on-board memory of 16M data that archieves continuous sampling, regardless of the processing performance of the PC. It is also equipped with bus master transfer function by which the sampling data is transferred to PC memory with high speed. A variety of settings for signal input such as impedance, range, filter and coupling can be performed. Analog input channel's input impedance can be selected between 50Ω and 1MΩ. The measurement using a general-purpose passive probe is also possible by 1MΩ. According to the voltage level of signal source connected, a number of ranges can be swithed (When 1MΩ is set, there are 10 ranges between 40mVpk[±20mV] and 40Vpk[±20V]. When 50Ω is set, there are 8 ranges between 40mVpk[±20mV] and 10Vpk[±5V]), so that you can make good use of the 10bit resolution. By enabling the noise filter (low pass filter: 20MHZ ), it is possible to perform the measurement with reducing the influence of mixed high frequency noise from signal source and ambient environment. The input coupling can be selected from AC/DC/GND. (AC is only available when 1MΩ is set.) The synchronization between external instrument and the board is possible with the reference clock I/O. The synchronization between other measuring instrument or another board with the same type becomes easily for that the reference clock (10MHz) can be input/output. It is possible to expand the number of channels by the synchronization between another board with the same type, and measure the mixed signal by the synchronization between other measuring instrument. Sampling can be controlled by software, conversion data comparison, external trigger, event controller output, and similar start and stop conditions Sampling can be setup to be started and stopped by software, conversion data comparison, external trigger, or event controller output. Control of sampling start and stop is completely independent and a separate setting is provided for each. It is also possible to specify that sampling stop after a specified number of samples. There are two kinds of comparison for conversion data. The one is implemented by comparing the conversion data edge (rising edge, falling edge or both edges), the other one is implemented by window trigger that is satisfied when conversion data go inside/outside a certain boundary. BNC connector used for analog input, trigger and reference clock The BNC connector used for the connector has a characteristic impedance of 50Ω and is of a type commonly used for high speed analog signal. 2 DIG-100M1002-PCI

2. Setup Diagnosis Report (1) The diagnosis report saves detailed data, including the device settings and settings for each channel, to a text file and displays the file for you to view. Click [Diagnosis Report] and then specify the folder to save the diagnosis report (text file). (2) The diagnosis report contains the following data. - Version of OS - Device Information (Device Name, Device description) - File Information (file version, time stamp) - Initialization, interrupts, current input or output state for each channel 20 DIG-100M1002-PCI

2. Setup Setup Troubleshooting Symptoms and Actions Data input or output does not operate correctly - Run the front panel software to check that the device is registered and whether any initialization errors have occurred. - Is there a problem with the device settings, wiring, or similar? Check the input range, input impedance, band width, input coupling and offset setting. Also, the input data will be undefined if the wiring terminals are not connected. Ensure that the channels you are using are correctly connected. Connect unused channels to analog ground. - For voltage input, check by connecting a battery or similar if you do not have any other suitable signal source. Also check that connecting to analog ground reads correctly as 0V. The board works with the front panel software but not with an application. The front panel software is coded with API-DIG(WDM) functions. As long as the board operates with the front panel software, it is to operate with other applications as well. In such cases, review your program while paying attention to the following points: - Check the return values of the API functions. - Refer to the source code for the sample programs. The OS won t normally get started or detect the device. Refer to the "Troubleshooting" section of API-DIG(WDM) HELP. If your problem cannot be resolved Contact your retailer. DIG-100M1002-PCI 21

3. External Connection The reference clock is a period signal that becomes the standard of the sampling period. It is possible to expand the number of channels by the synchronization between external instrument or another board with the same type by the reference clock, and measure the mixed signal by the synchronization between other measurement instrument. Moveover, it is also used in the case of performing sampling at a more accurate period supplied by frequency standards etc. Input CLK Connector Input circuit PLL circuit AD converter CLK can be selected besides the reference clock from outside. 36 3. External Connection Synchronization Control Connectors SC Connectors Controlling simultaneous operations between boards or controlling in sync with events is in part dependent on software performance. In order to enhance the reliability of the entire system and to solve these problems, the board is equipped with SC (Synchronization Control) connectors (CN6, CN7). Connecting the SC connectors allows boards of the same or different models to operate in sync with one another. From the boards connected with the SC cable, select one master board and use others as slaves. On the master board, set the signal to be supplied to the slave boards with the software. On the slave boards, the signal from the master board can be set to either the pacer clock operation start or stop factor. All board operations can also be stopped with a stop request from the master in case of an error, for example, or when requested from a slave board. A maximum of 16 boards can be connected including the master. For more information on the setup procedure, see the driver software online help. Example 1: When sampling clock start and stop requirements are set the same for multiple boards In order to synchronize master sampling clock start and stop with slave boards you can build a synchronous system which does not depend on software processing capabilities. If the board model is the same, data remains synchronized among boards even when channels are expanded. When board models are different, data still remains compatible since sampling clock start and stop are dependent on the master. (1) Connect the SC cable. (2) Designate master/slave with the software. (3) Assign to the connectors the sampling clock start and stop signals to be output from the master. (4) Set up slave boards so they can utilize all signals. (5) Start in order of slave to master boards. CAUTION - When sampling clock signals are assigned to the synchronization control connector, the maximum clock frequency is restricted to 5MHz. - When signals are assigned to the synchronization control connector, a delay of approximately 100nsec occurs at the slave board. DIG-100M1002-PCI 29

3. External Connection Example 2: When controlling slave operations with master's internal events By outputting an internal event (interrupt) occurring on the master board, the slaves can start operating in sync with that signal. (1) Connect the SC cable. (2) Designate master/slave with the software. (3) Assign to the connector the event signal to be output from the master. (4) Set signals from the master to the start requirements on the slave boards. (5) Start in order of slave to master boards. Connecting the SC Connectors (CN6, CN7) This product is equipped with sync signal control connectors (CN3, CN4) for connecting a sync signal cable. When the cable is connected, multiple boards can operate in sync with one another. Connection Procedure Connect the sync signal cable when two or more boards need to operate in sync with one another. Connect CN6 with a smaller ID number to CN7 with a greater ID number with the cable. You should only use the cable that came with the board. 38 4. Functions 4. Functions This chapter explains the function that can be achieved by hardware and driver's combinations. driver indicates the thing of API-DIG(WDM) as long as there is no annotation. 3 practical requirements This product is equipped with 3 kinds of operation modes to meet the practical requirements. The Oscilloscope Mode It is the mode that assumes the usage as the oscilloscope of the measuring instrument. The oscilloscope is used to observe the shape of period waves with vasious frequencies, and confirm the state of the pulse generated instantly and the edge signal etc. For that real-time waveform display is necessary for the oscilloscope, the latest waveform data can be acquired from plural waveform data stored in the memory at any moment. Moreover, the waveform acquisition operation continues even when the defeat of the wareform occurred by sample rate and trigger formation condition etc., for that it specializes in the real-time monitoring of the latest data. The figure is a data acquisition image in the oscilloscope mode. The rising edge etc of analog signal are made a trigger, data before and after that is acquired as record waveform. When the acquisition processing of a record is not in time, the next record is acquired cancelling the current record. Data Logger Mode It is the mode that assumes the usage as data logger. It is used to acquire arbitrary waveform and save all the data into a file. Within the range of on-board memory size, all acquisition data can be acquired regardless of other acquisition conditions. Moveover, the data is acquired periodically avoiding the overflow of driver memory, by which infinite sampling can be performed. The figure is a data acquisition image in the data logger mode. In data logger mode, it is possible to control data acquisition timing with two kinds of triggers, pretrigger and post-trigger. DIG-100M1002-PCI 31

4. Functions All the data, which combines pre-trigger sampling and post-trigger sampling, can be acquired. Waveform judgment instrument mode It is the mode that assumes the usage as waveform judgment instrument. It is a function to compare the data used for waveform judgment and set beforehand with the actual input waveform, so as to perform one by one, pass or fail judgment of the record waveform automatically. In waveform judgment instrument mode, it is possible to count the number of generation times of the waveform judgment result (PASS/FAIL). A limit value is set to the counter, when the number of generation times of PASS or FAIL reached the limit, the digitizer operation is stopped and the signal is output to outside. Moreover, by acquiring the conversion data and the waveform judgment result, the PASS/FAIL result of the acquisition data can be confirmed by a record unit. And a detailed analysis for judgment results such as whether each sample data exceeding the upper bound/lower bound value of the mask data, is also possible. The figure is a data acquisition image in the waveform judgment instrument mode. The record loss is inhibited. The digitizer operation stops when all records cannot be acquired by exceeding the limit of the processing performance. 32 DIG-100M1002-PCI

4. Functions Overviews of Setting Order The processing flow for using this product is roughly divided into 3 categories as shown in the figure below. Initialization processing Common setting Waveform judgment setting Horizontal axis setting Vertical axis setting Operation start Trigger setting Waveform judgment setting Data acquisition 1. Acquisition condition setting Perform the settings related to the entire operation of the digitizer. Set digitizer operation mode, event controller, abort factor, event notification, filterting of digital signal and so on. < Horizontal axis setting > It is settings concerning the time axis of the digitizer. It performs settings of sampling mode, reference clock source,, sampling clock source, sample rate, acquisition record length, acquisition record times, trigger point (duty ratio) and so on. < Vertical axis setting > It is settings of each channel of the digitizer. It performs settings of input range, offset, impedance, coupling, band width, probe attenuation rate and so on. < Trigger setting > It is settings concerning the pre-trigger and the post-trigger. It performs settings of trigger type, the direction of the edge, level voltage, hysteresis, settling times, hold off time, delay time and so on. <Waveform judgment setting> It is settings when the digitizer is used in the waveform judgment instrument mode. 2. Operation start End processing Start the digitizer operation after setting acquisition conditions. It is possible to generate a signal and stop the operation by a software command. The state of the digitizer can be confirmed by acquiring the status, the number of samples, the number of records etc. DIG-100M1002-PCI 33

4. Functions If event notification is set, the event handler of the application is called when an event is generated on the digitizer side. When the digitizer is used in waveform judgment instrument mode, the digitizer does waveform judgment processing simultaneously while performing data acquisition. 3. Data acquisition The data can be acquired not only during digitizer operation but also after operation completion. The data can be acquired from the oldest data sequentially, and the latest data can be acquired. Moreover, the data can be acquired by binary value or voltage value. With the same acquisition condition, it is possible to perform repeated processing for motion start and data acquisition. It is also possible to perform a series of a processes again after changing acquisition conditions. Common Setting Auto setup function The digitizer scans input signals of each channel when auto setup function is executed. The driver performs settings for the vertical axis, the horizontal axis, and the trigger automatically when a signal is detected from a channel. The sample rate, record length, input range, and trigger level are automatically set according to the frequency and the amplitude of input signal. As for other acquisition conditions such as duty ratio and input impedance, a fixed value is set. Save/Read acquisition condition setting The contents of acquisition conditions (horizontal axis setting, vertical axis setting, trigger setting, waveform judgment setting) set to the digitizer board can be read/written from/into a file. With a configuration file of acquisition conditions, by the on-site PC which the system operates, fine adjustment of parameters and the customization.can be done easily. Moreover, by using configuration software, you may create a new configuration file of acquisition conditions or edit an existing file, thus the program development work can be reduced. Set abort factor The digitizer operation is aborted when a certain condition is satisfied. Plural abort factors can be set effective/ ineffective individually. For example, when a sampling clock error occurred by the noise and chattering as external sampling clock is used, it is possible to continue the sampling disregarding the error or abort the operation. Event notification It is the function to notify the application of the event generated in the digitizer. For example, to detect the operation completion of the digitizer in the application, if the event notification function is used, the specified handler in the program is called when the digitizer operation completed, though the program is made to observe states such as the status and the number of samples usually. 34 DIG-100M1002-PCI

4. Functions Horizontal Axis Setting The horizontal axis setting becomes the common setting contents for plural channels. Reference clock CONTEC digitizer uses LVTTL signal of 10MHz, duty ratio of 50% as a reference clock. The reference clock of 10MHz is a frequency that can be used by most measuring instruments. This reference clock is used as an input to PLL ( Phase-locked loop). This clock is made 10 times in PLL, and the signal of 100MHz is generated to the AD converter for clock use. The source signal of the reference clock can be selected from the digitizer itself or an external signal. When only the digitizer board is used, the crystal transmitter in the board is used as the reference clock source to PLL. To perform the synchronization between plural digitizer boards, with synchronization bus, output the reference clock on master device side, and input the reference clock on slave device side. Moreover, BNC connector (CLK) for reference clock I/O is used to perform the synchronization of the reference clock between external instrument and the digitizer. Sampling clock The sampling clock is a clock signal that generates the timing to acquire AD conversion data. The AD converter always performs sampling at 100MHz for that it uses the reference clock output from PLL. The digitizer transfers the conversion data to the memory after extracting it at the period of the set sampling clock. To perform the synchronization between other CONTEC device, with synchronization bus, output the sampling clock on master device side, and input the sampling clock on slave device side. Moreover, BNC connector (TRG) for trigger I/O is used to perform the synchronization of the sampling clock between external instrument and the digitizer. Sampling rate It is possible to set the sample rate when the sampling clock of the digitizer itselt is used. The sample rate is expressed as a frequency (sample times per second), and the unit is Hz. The sample rate can be set within the range from 0.025Hz to 100,000,000Hz. By the nyquist theorem, a signal must be sampled at a frequency at least twice the maximum frequency element. When the sample rate is less than that, the phenomenon called aliasing occurs that an original signal cannot reproduce. Record One waveform data is expressed by a record unit. The record data consist of pre-trigger sample data and post-trigger sample data. record = pre-trigger sample + post-trigger sample DIG-100M1002-PCI 35

4. Functions The sample data before and after the post-trigger (or, trigger only) are called pre-trigger sample and post-trigger sample respectively. Set the record length long to collect and observe longer waves like zoom out of the oscilloscope, and set the record length short to collect and observe shorter waves like zoom in of the oscilloscope. Usually the oscilloscope acquires the record data repeatedly. The record data finally acquired are transferred in the form that plural record data continuously ranged as the figure shown below. Duty ratio The duty ratio shows the position of the post-trigger in a record. The duty ratio also shows the ratio of record length for pre-trigger sampling and post-trigger sampling. The duty ratio can be calculated as follows. Duty ratio(%) = the number of pri-trigger samples / record length 100 The position of the post-trigger moves to the left/right side in a record when the duty ratio is near to 0%/100%. Memory and transfer mode The block diagram about data transfer is shown below. The data of channel 0 and channel 1 converted by each AD converter respectively are transferred to device driver memory via the on-board memory. The size of the on-board memory is 32M bytes (16M data), the size of device driver memory is automatically secured by the driver and its maximum size becomes about 60M bytes. The bus master transfer is performed from the on-board memory to device driver memory. The maximum throughput (transfer ability) becomes 33MHz, 32 bits depending on the PCI bus architecture. On the other hand, the maximum transfer speed from the AD converter to the on-board memory becomes 100MHz, 32 bits when the sampling of 100MHz is performed for 2 channels. For that it exceeds the throughput of bus master transfer, the data cannot be transferred infinitely. In this case, the acquisition operation is aborted by the overflow of the on-board memory. When the digitizer is used in the oscilloscope mode, the latest acquisition data is transferred after waiting for the on-board memory to ensure space. Therefore, the loss should occur to the acquired waveform though the operation of the digitizer never stops. 36 DIG-100M1002-PCI

4. Functions Vertical Axis Setting Resolution The resolution is the number of bits used to express an analogue signal as a digital value. With high resolution, the range of the voltage si divided finely, thus the analog value can be converted into digital value more accurately. This product has a resolution of 10 bits, its range of digital value is from 0 to Channel The channel shows each point that is possible to input analog signal. Please refer to the description of 3. EXTERNAL CONNECTION-How to connect the connectors-connector Pin Assignment for each channel number. For that the AD converter is installed in each of the two channels for this product, the simultaneous sampling is possible. An arbitrary point can be digitized by setting the channel with software. Range The range is a range of the voltage that can be digitized. This product has the following ten kinds of ranges, the waveform of the analog signal can be digitalized by selecting an appropriate input range according to the voltage range of the input signal. The input range is mainly described in a full scale range for CONTEC digitizer. Input range Full-scale range (FSR) ±20V 40Vpk ±10V 20Vpk ±5V 10Vpk ±2V 4Vpk ±1V 2Vpk ±0.5V 1Vpk ±0.2V 0.4Vpk ±0.1V 0.2Vpk ±0.05V 0.1Vpk ±0.02V 0.04Vpk Offset The offset function is a function to shift the voltage of the entire input signals up and down. When the input signal consists of direct current (DC) element and alternating current (AC) element, the precision necessary for the observation of the AC element might not be obtained even if the input range is regulated. In this case, the input range can be effectively used by adjusting the offset to make the center of the AC element of input signal become 0V. DIG-100M1002-PCI 37

4. Functions Impedance The impedance generally expresses the resistance of alternating current signal and is merely called resistance for direct current signal. The resistance of the signal input circuit (digitizer board) is called an input impedance. The input impedance can be set to 50Ω or 1MΩ for CONTEC digitizer board. The current flows to the digitizer when the input impedance of the digitizer is low, and the measurement result is influenced by the voltage descent. Therefore, set the input impedance of the digitizer as high as possible, and reduce the measurement error by connecting the digitizer as much as possible. For example, set the input impedance of the digitizer to 1MΩ to measure signals of the circuit etc. However, the resistance of 50Ω maybe necessary for the terminal resistance depending on the instrument of the measurement object. In this case, the correct voltage can be measured by setting the input impedance on the digitizer side to 50Ω. Coupling The coupling is a method of connecting the circuit of the measurement object with the digitizer to transfer signals. The input coupling can be connected to DC, AC or the ground. DC coupling All the input signals can be displayed. AC coupling The acquired signal are displayed at the center of 0V by intercepting the DC element from the signals. Ground coupling The input signals are intercepted from the vertical axis circuit, and are short-circuited with the ground in the digitizer. The acquired signal becomes DC voltage of 0V. Band width Band width can also refer to frequency bandwidth, and is defined as the 3db attenuation point of the amplitude of sinewave input signal. 3dB is known as the input signal attenuated by 70.7% of its original amplitude. The band width of this product becomes 40MHz. Moreover, this digitizer board carries a 20MHz band width filter, so that it can suppress the effects of a high frequency noise. 38 DIG-100M1002-PCI

4. Functions Probe attenuation rate There are attenuation rates such as 1:1, 10:1, 100:1 and 1000:1 for a probe, and the passive voltage probe of 10:1 is most commonly used. The attenuation rate of 10:1 means that the measured voltage enters the digitizer after being attenuated to 1/10 by the probe. When the attenuation rate is changed by a probe, it is necessary to correct the attenuation on the digitizer side and make the converted data 10 times. Auto limit range The auto limit range is a function to set whether change the input range to +/-20V automatically when the overrange (Input signal exceeds the upper bound/lower bound of the input range of the digitizer) occurs. When overvoltage is input into the digitizer board, the malfunction and deterioration of the board parts are protected by automatically changing the input range to +/-20V. Trigger Setting Pre-trigger/Post-trigger The trigger signal is a signal to control the acquisition operation of the digitizer such as signal acquisition start/stop and state switch. There are pre-trigger and post-trigger, two kinds of trigger signals for the trigger of the digitizer. The pre-trigger is a signal only significative when the digitizer is used in data logger mode, and when the pre-trigger is satisfied, it starts data acquisition as data logger. The pre-trigger occurs automatically in the digitizer inside for operational modes other than data logger mode. The post-trigger is merely called a trigger, and it is a particularly important function for the oscilloscope. In order to observe periodic signal on the screen, it is necessary to perform the acquisition that the waveform of each record data has the same shape (Otherwise, the signal cannot be confirmed visually with the scattered screen). The trigger signal is used for that purpose, the usual method is to specify the level and the direction of the voltage, and set trigger conditions for channels that input signals. For example, set the level to +3V and the trigger to rising direction for the sine-wave signal of 1MHz with a amplitude of 10V and an offset of 0V. By doing so, data before and after the generation of this trigger are respectively digitized as pre-trigger sample and post-trigger sample, and plural record waves consist of sample data with the same shape. DIG-100M1002-PCI 39

4. Functions Software trigger The trigger that generates by not only external digital signal and analog signal but also software is called a software trigger. Software trigger is also called manual trigger or compulsion trigger. The trigger signal can be compulsorily generated by software trigger even when the trigger formation condition is set to external digital signal or analog signal,. Digital edge trigger It is the trigger occurs at the rising edge or the falling edge of external digital input signal, and the signal level is LVTTL. It is possible to input a trigger from other CONTEC board via the synchronization control connector (CN6, CN7). The BNC connector (TRG) for trigger I/O is used to input trigger signal form other instrument. Analog edge trigger, hysteresis It is the trigger occurs when an input signal to a specified channel of the digitizer intersects a certain voltage level. A rise, a fall or both direction is specified to the intersection of the voltage level. The hysteresis can be set to voltage level to prevent the trigger from occurring by mistake for the noise. Window trigger It is the trigger occurs when an input signal to a specified channel of the digitizer is within or outside the range of a specifid voltage for a certain period of time. Specify two kinds of voltage levels, the upper bound value and the lower bound value, and set the time of being within or outside that range. The window trigger is a convenient function for measuring power malfunction such as short interruption, voltage surge/sag, frequency variation, voltage descent and so on. 40 DIG-100M1002-PCI

4. Functions Waveform judgment setting Mask setting To use the waveform judgment function, you should make the mask data that becomes the comparison object and set it to the digitizer beforehand. There are three methods for making the mask data: generate the data automatically while acquiring the actual waveform, generate the data using GUI software Mask Editer and generate the data in a program. Waveform judgment counter It is possible to count the number of times of the waveform judgment result (PASS/FAIL) for each record data. A limit value is set to the counter, when the number of generation times of PASS or FAIL reached the limit, the digitizer operation is stopped and the signal is output to outside. Output the result of waveform judgment The result of the waveform judgment can be output outside as a digital signal. Such conditions can be set as outputting once/outputting every judgment result, pulse output/level output, and positive logic/negative logic. Operation Control Synchronization start/asynchronization start There are two methods for starting the digitizer operation, synchronization and asynchronization. When asynchronization start is used, the driver function issues a start command to the digitizer and returns immediately. Therefore, the application can do other processing during the digitizer operation. On the other hand, it is necessary to observe the digitizer state regularly or use the event notification function so that the application knows the operation completion of the digitizer. It is necessary to use asynchronization start for infinite sampling. When synchronization start is used, the driver function doesn't return the control until the the digitizer stopped operating. Therefore, the application cannot do other processing until the digitizer stopped operating. On the other hand, the programming becomes concise for there s no need to detect the operation completion of the digitizer. DIG-100M1002-PCI 41

4. Functions Status / Data Acquisition Binary / Voltage acquisition The acquisition data can be acquired by the unit of binary value or voltage value. Record data acquisition The acquisition data is retrieved by a sample unit when the digitizer is used in data logger mode. The sample data can be acquired not only during the operation but also after the operation of the digitizer. Moreove, the acquisition is always be done from the oldest data in data logger mode. One-shot measurement The one-shot measurement can be done besides the usual data acquisition operation. The present value of a signal input into the digitizer can be acquired by the one-shot measurement. The one-short measurement can be done when the digitizer is operating. Overview and detail of waveform judgment result In waveform judgment instrument mode, the overview data and the detailed data of the waveform judgment result can be acquired while the acquisition data is being retrieved. The overview data of the waveform judgment result contains the state of OK or NG for the judgment result of the record. The detailed data of the waveform judgment result contains the information that each sample data of the record whether exceeds the upper bound/lower bound value of the mask data, or is within the range. 42 DIG-100M1002-PCI

4. Functions The Other Function Event controller The event controller is a function handled in the digitizer to decide how to combine various control signals. Various control signals can be output outside by customizing the combination of control signals. Such operation as the following examples is possible by the use of the event controller function. - The sampling clock of the digitizer is output to synchronization bus or Trigger Output. - The reference clock for PLL is output to Reference CLK. - A pulse is output to synchronization bus or Trigger Output whenever the acquisition of one record is completed, - The pulse is output to synchronization bus or Trigger Output when the operation of the digitizer is completed. - A pulse is output to synchronization bus or Trigger Output when the pre-trigger or the post-trigger of the digitizer is satisfied. - The result of the waveform comparison (OK/ NG/count match) is output to synchronization bus or Trigger Output as the pulse or the level. - The signal of synchronization bus is output to Trigger Output. - A pulse is output to synchronization bus or Trigger Output when the digitizer stops abnormally. - Master device or slave device is aborted by conditions such as an error that occurred in the board.
