1 GENERAL The Universal Interface Board 842 (UIB 842) is an Access Control Power Distribution Manager (aka ACM) designed to support access control system with eight wet or powered outputs, delivering 12V or 24V to electrified locks and other electronic devices requiring stable and isolated power distribution. Each output reports its measured voltage and current drawn by the lock/load. Each output is also protected against short/overcurrent condition with auto recovery, Digitally Controlled Solid State Circuit Breaker, has an adjacent dual color LED to indicate its status, i.e. energize, not energize or short circuit conditions and it can be programmed for fail safe mode in which output s power is automatically removed when its on board Fire Alarm is activated. UIB 842 also provides four Form C relays. A yellow LED is located near each relay to indicate that a relay is energized. Relays can be activated by either external dry contact switch or can be triggered by low voltage, 10VDC 26VDC power input. In addition, the UIB 842 provides for two auxiliaries, 12V and 24V power connectors to supply power to any other devices requiring power such as REX motion sensors. Outputs are protected with 1.5A auto recovery, Digitally Controlled Solid State Circuit Breakers. Both wet powered outputs as well as the relays are controlled/activated by a dry supervised contact and in addition, four voltage sensitive wet inputs are available. These inputs can activate/ trigger the relays by application of power from an external voltage source. Additional control and management of the UIB is achieved via one of the two (A or B) RS 485 OSDP communications ports. The control can be done by either 3 rd party complying with RS 485/OSDP/NU 2 API, or by NU2 s own Smart Power Supply (SPS) as managed by a Smartphone App (ios or Android), or by NU2 DCC (Data Communication Controller). The UIB is designed to function either as a stand alone power manager, or, connect to NU2 s Smart Power Supply (SPS) or other manufacturer s equipment s communication bus. When doing so, further UIB s real time status display and management is then achieved locally via Bluetooth or remotely via Web access. Figure 1: Block Diagram

3 DETAILED HARDWARE DESCRIPTION 1. DC Power IN 12V/24V: UIB has two DC voltage inputs: one for 12V and another one for 24V. Any DC IN voltage that is greater than 10VDC can operate UIB s internal operations circuitry, however, both 12V and 24V are required to support applications requiring mixed voltage WET output and auxiliary power outputs. 2. DC power OUT 12V/24V: This is unmanaged power output connected directly to DC Power IN connector. Typical applications would be to cascade power for a second UIB or any other device requiring 12V/24V. 3. WET outputs voltage jumper selector: Each one of the eight WET outputs can deliver either 12V (Jumper to the Left) or 24V (Jumper to the Right). The selection is done on the jumper per output (see below). 4. Dual color status LED (color output status) a. Green: Energized b. Red: Shorted c. Off: Not Energized 5. Eight WET outputs: each with the following functionality: a. Deliver 12V or 1.1A b. Voltage and current measurement and reported via Communication Port A (Item #17) to the Smart Power Supply (SPS) for further display and management via Bluetooth/ Web c. Status LED as noted at item #4 above d. Protected against overload/short condition via use of auto recovery, Digitally Controlled Solid State Circuit Breaker e. Configured for either Fail Safe or Fail Secure operations. (see #19) 6. Four Form C Relays a. SPDT Relays, contacts rated at 10 Amps b. Triggered by: i. supervised open/closed input (see #15) or ii. External voltage 12V 24VDC (see #7) c. Yellow LED, indicates that the corresponding relay is energized 7. Four trigger inputs, one for each of the four relays. Voltage trigger 10VDC or higher will activate the relay that is controlled by that input.

4 8. Auxiliary Power output: UIB provides two managed outputs of 12V/24VDC. These outputs are designed to power products such as Request To Exit (RTE) motion detectors, temperature and water sensors, lights, relays and all other low voltage devices requiring 12V and/or 24V power. Further power distribution and management is achieved when using UIB s Active Distribution Module (ADM 4) or UIB 4 boards. Specifications: a. 12V and 1.5A b. Protected against overload/ short condition with auto recovery, Digitally Controlled Solid State Circuit Breaker. c. Status LED; Green=Power ON, Red=Short d. Managed by the SPS/UIB mobile app/web access. 9. Four Form C Relays: Physical location 10. Tamper Sensor and AUX input: Three inputs designated as a. TPR A connect a N/C dry contact from enclosure s Tamper switch b. B Spare input #1 c. C Spare input #2 11. RS 485A address and Termination selector (SW2) a. Switch position #1 End of Line (EOL) termination for Communication Port A b. Switch position #2 End of Line (EOL) termination for Communication Port A c. Switch position #3 Reserved d. Switch Positions #4 #8 These switches apply only when connecting the UIB to NU2 s Smart Power Supply (SPS). UIB address is selected at dip switch 2 (SW2) positions 5 8. UIB address is unique and is assigned during installation time. Addresses span for UIB is 16 thru 31. When installed with NU 2 sps the sps address are related to each other according to the following table:

Fire Alarm I/O: Fire Alarm (FA) is activated by OPEN state at the input and it is deactivated when the input is SHORT. The FA output is duplicating the FA input and it is isolated from the input by a relay. 19. Fail Safe / Fail Secure selector for each one of the WET outputs

6 Electrified lock s FAIL SAFE mode is achieved via SW1. There is a dip switch setting, for each one of the WET outputs (1 thru 8). When SW1 switches are turned ON (up), then, in the event of Fire Alarm activation, the matching output s is removed causing the fail safe electrified lock to unlock the door. 20. Management & Control: a. When connected via RS 485 Port A to NU2 s Smart Power Supply (SPS), the UIB then can be locally controlled by Smartphone app (ios or Android) or via Web if connected to the SPS s Data and Communication Controller (DCC). The followings are examples of the application s control screens as viewed by the Smartphone app:

UIB can be locally or remotely controlled by the NU2 Data and Communication Controller (DCC): DCC is a central repository and management center, can handle clusters of NU2 products (sps, UIB, IOC and more) via encrypted RS 485 OSDP communications links as well as remotely located NU2 systems over the Ethernet/Wifi and eventually internet network. A typical configuration of sps + 2 x UIBs controlled by DCC is shown as:
