2 CoolLED pe-300 Series MB with 55E U-AW Adaptor. The new U-AW adaptor now enables use of the pe-300 lite, pe-300 white, and pe-300 ultra with upright FV3000 confocal microscopes and FVMPE-RS multiphoton microscopes from Olympus. These are the first LED Illumination Systems to be compatible with these set-ups. The inverted FV3000 confocal microscopes do not include a U-AW attenuator wheel, thus do not require the adaptor. Currently, the FLUOVIEW software for confocal and multiphoton microscopes do not support control of the pe- 300 white or pe-300 ultra. Therefore, the pe-300 lite will be the preferred variant in most configurations.

3 What is a -55E Adaptor? The -55E Adaptor is a 2 part adaptor to connect the U-AW Filter Wheel to the CoolLED pe-300 Series Light Source, designed specifically for the Olympus Confocal system based on an upright microscope body. The First Part is the projection optics component. This part directs the light into a Liquid Light Guide (LLG) after passing through the U-AW filter wheel. The First Part is installed into the pe-300 Series Light Source body during assembly for the model specified on the Olympus Purchase Order to CoolLED. The Second Part is connected to the U-AW Filter Wheel as outlined in the instructions on the following pages. As the First Part of the -55E Adaptor has to be installed at the CoolLED factory to ensure quality standards and warranty coverage, field retrofit of this adapter is not offered.

4 CoolLED pe-300 Series with -55E Adaptor Assembly Light source needs to be sat in the stand provided as shown. Failure to do this may result in the light source and Filter Wheel becoming unstable!! a) Connect Control Pod first (Important!!). b) Connect Power Supply do not connect to power outlet yet. c) Connect USB if needed for pe-300 white and pe- 300 ultra variants.

5 CoolLED pe-300 Series with -55E Adaptor - Assembly Connect U-AW Filter Wheel to pe-300 Series mounted in Cradle. Connect LLG Adapter to U-AW Filter Wheel.

6 CoolLED pe-300 with -55E Adaptor - Assembly Confocal LLG Input Connect LLG ( Liquid Light Guide). Connect to Confocal LLG Port and Plug into power outlet.

9 CoolLED -55E U-AW Adaptor Installation Attach Filter Wheel onto the pe-300 Series Light Source and secure with 3mm hex key.

10 CoolLED -55E U-AW Adaptor Installation Attach Liquid Light Guide interface to the output side of the Filter Wheel. Secure with 3mm hex key.

11 CoolLED -55E U-AW Adaptor Installation Insert Liquid Light Guide and secure with 1.5mm hex key. Insert output end of LLG into port on the confocal scan head. Connect Filter wheel control cables.
