5 Innovation The new clean room system of the Fraunhofer IPA CAPE is as compact as a tent, but allows the air cleanliness classes ISO 1 to 9. This will give companies and research institutions, for the first time, a clean room on demand that will keep their high-quality products and systems clean at any point quickly and easily. Even low levels of contamination cause huge quality losses in many industries with purity requirements. For example, these contaminants can lead to defective microchips, space probes or lenses. In order to avoid this damage, companies outsource the manufacturing and assembly steps of the high-quality products concerned to cleanrooms. Cleanrooms are usually expensive, inflexible and do not protect against contamination entrainment. With the CAPE, the Fraunhofer IPA has developed the first cleanroom system that can be flexibly set up and, through its mobility, protects the products against contamination during transport.

6 Innovation In addition to the protection of selected production areas, with and without cleanroom technology, the CAPE can also be used to shield contamination-critical work processes. Due to the simple design principle, individual solutions can be set up and dismantled within approx. 30 minutes. The size can be extended modularly depending on the customer's request and purpose.
