They indicate whether each type of module (supervisors, controllers, line cards, fabric modules, fan trays, and power supplies) are fully functional or have a fault condition. The following table describes what each of these s can indicate. blue The operator has activated this to identify this chassis. This chassis is not being identified. Supervisor modules are all operational. Check the Supervisor Module s for more information. Fabric modules are all operational. Check the FAB description in the Fan Tray s for more information. Line cards (I/O modules) are all operational. Check the Line Card s, on page 4 for more information. SUP FAB IOM 1

2 System Controller s s PSU FAN PWR MGMT Power supplies are all operational. Check the Power Supply s for more information. Fan trays are all operational. Check the Fan Tray s for more information. Sufficient power is available for all of the installed modules. Either of the following: Insufficient power for at least one of the installed modules. The configured power redundancy mode differs from the operational power redundancy. System Controller s The system controller module s are located on the left side of the module. The following table describes the possible states for each of these s. STS ACT blue amber red The operator has activated this to identify this module in the chassis. This module is operational. This module is booting up. Temperature exceeds major alarm threshold. The module is not receiving power. The controller module is operational and in active mode. The controller module is operational and in standby mode. 2

3 s Supervisor Module s Supervisor Module s The Beacon (), (STS), and Active (ACT) s are located on the lower left front of the supervisor module. The management port link and active s are located immediately above the port on the front of the module. The following table describes the possible states for each of these s. STS ACT (management port LINK) (management port ACT) blue amber red green The operator has activated this to identify this module in the chassis. This module is operational. This module is booting up. Temperature exceeds major alarm threshold. The module is not receiving power. This module is operational and in active mode. This module is operational and in standby mode. The management port is linked up. The management port is not linked up. The module is transmitting or receiving. The module is not transmitting or receiving. Fan Tray s The fan tray s are located on the lower right portion of the module. The following table describes the possible states indicated by this module. Blue The operator has activated this to identify this module in the chassis. 3

4 Fabric Module s s FAN Red The fan tray is operational. One or more fans in this fan tray has failed. No power is going to the fan tray. Verify that the even numbered fabric slot (FM 2, FM 4, or FM 6) behind the fan tray has one of the following in order to power the fan tray: Functioning fabric module (N9K-C9508-FM, N9K-C9508-FM-E, or N9K-C9508-FM-E2) FAB The fabric modules behind this fan tray are operational. At least one fabric module behind this fan tray is not operating. No power is going to the fabric module behind this fan tray. Fabric Module s The fabric modules are located behind the fan trays. /top /bottom Blue red amber The operator has activated this beacon () to identify this module in the chassis. Note When the operator activates the /top, the on the covering fan module also activates (lights). The fabric module is operational. The fabric module has a fault. The fabric module is booting up. No power is going to the fabric module. Line Card s The Beacon () and (STS) s are located on the front left of the module, and the Link for each port is located between the two rows of ports (each of these s is a triangle pointing to the port above or below the ). 4

5 s Power Supply s STS blue red The operator has activated this to identify this module in the chassis. This is not being used. All diagnostics passed. This module is operational (normal initialization sequence). Indicates one of the following: The module has detected a slot ID parity error and will not power on or boot up. The module is not fully inserted, and it is not making a reliable connection with the supervisor. The module has failed diagnostic tests and has powered down. An overtemperature condition has occurred. A major temperature threshold has been exceeded during environmental monitoring. amber Indicates one of the following: The module is booting up or initializing. The module is resetting and both ejector levers are out. The module has been inserted during the initialization process. The module could not power up because of insufficient power. Link (for each port) Orange orange The module is not receiving power. The port is active (the link is connected and active). The port is disabled by the operator or is not initializing. The port is faulty and disabled. The port is not active or the link is not connected. Power Supply s The power supply s are located on the upper left front portion of the module. Combinations of states indicated by the OK and FAIL (or FAIL/ID) s indicate the status for the module as shown in the following table. 5

6 Power Supply s s OK green FAIL or FAIL/ID amber Power supply is on and outputting power to the switch. Power supply is connected to AC power source but not outputting power to the switch. The power supply might not be properly installed in the chassis. Either all of the installed power supplies are not receiving power or an uninstalled power supply is not receiving power. Power supply is operating but a warning condition has occurred possibly one of the following conditions: High temperature High power Slow power supply fan Low voltage Power supply is installed in the chassis but was disconnected from the power source amber (10 seconds) then amber Power supply is installed without a connection to a power source. Power supply failure possibly one of the following conditions: Over voltage Over current Over temperature Power supply fan failure 6
