This special material exhibits outstanding thermal behaviour with no pyroelectricity, thereby guaranteeing excellent signal quality and virtually constant sensitivity over the lifetime of the device. In addition, the transducer has a very low response threshold and uses internal case insulation. Combined, these features make the an extremely stable and reliable device that is suitable for the longterm monitoring of pressure pulsations in turbines. The transducer is fitted with an integral mineral insulated cable (twin conductors) that can be terminated with either a LEMO connector or a high-temperature connector developed by Vibro-Meter. Cable assemblies are available to connect the transducer to an IPC 704 signal conditioner. 2 DESCRIPTION (continued) The IPC 704 signal conditioner can convert the charge-based signal from the pressure transducer into a current or a voltage signal. Using a current modulated output allows transmission over longer distances, for example, up to 1 km when a GSI galvanic separation unit is used. Combining an IPC 704 signal conditioner with the pressure transducer produces a dynamic pressure measurement system that outputs a voltage or current signal that is proportional to the measured pressure. In this pressure measurement system, each component is interchangeable. The piezoelectric pressure transducer is designed to measure dynamic pressure levels and is particularly suitable for measuring pulsation pressures in the combustors of modern gas turbines.
