Presentation Outline Networking Solutions in Water/Wastewater Overview, Benefits and Applications Wireless Highlights End to End Networking Solutions Examples Real-Time Monitoring Remote SCADA Monitoring Monitoring and Control Summary Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 4
Networking Solutions are Essential to Automation Industrial Wireless products needed to deliver a comprehensive solution for reaching any device in the network, streamlining operations, improving productivity and safety, and reducing overall cost. Ethernet Switches integrate PLCs, SCADA and field devices with wireless networks to create a seamless industrial network. The increased visibility of device activity and overall reliability of the network leads to a more productive and safer solution at a lower total cost of ownership. Network Management Systems offer a cost effective way to plan, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot your network. Challenges and Opportunities: Large scale SCADA systems require wireless and wireline network enhancements to fully realize the flexible, low maintenance systems suitable for most industrial operations Vertical markets like Water and Wastewater serve as ideal applications Real world applications provide key learning for future success Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 5
Benefits of Networking Solutions in Water/Wastewater Key Benefits Optimizes response times and provides immediate indication of critical diagnostic information Improves monitoring and control of water flow for extended distances Improves operator safety and efficiency by removing travel to remote site locations for readings Wireless radios allow for any type of network topology, can self-heal, provide reliability and future expansion capability Reduces costs for manual labor and maximizes efficiency Simplifies installation and commissioning of network with reduced infrastructure required Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 6
Monitoring Applications Monitoring is being used by water authorities for a variety of applications: Pump station control Dam gauging and gate control Water treatment plant PLCs and other devices Sewer treatment plant PLCs and other devices Large network SCADA systems Early flood-warning systems Valve and flow meter stations Treatment plant monitoring Rainfall monitoring Tank level monitoring Ethernet camera surveillance Irrigation monitoring and control Water quality monitoring Reservoir and dam level monitoring Alarms: Wet well overflow, Intruder, etc. Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 7
Radio Standards IEEE & ISA IEEE - Developed many standards for all markets (consumer, commercial, etc) (a, b, g, n, etc) ISA Developed standard specifically for industrial use: ISA100 The ITU has allocated ISM bands 900MHz and 2.4GHz (now pretty noisy) FCC also licenses frequencies, with common examples that include 150, 220, 408, 450, and 950 MHz telemetry Geared for about 50 KBPS or less of over the air throughput Ranges up to miles Have the ability to penetrate non line of sight paths of over 10+ miles are achievable. Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 8
Wireless Technology Considerations Transmit Power (More = Better) Receiver Sensitivity ( and at what error rate) Over-the-Air Data Rate (lower gives greater range - narrower bandwidth gives better interference immunity) Frequency (lower = greater range) Filtering! - the difference between high quality radios and the rest Other Considerations Separation! Locate the antennas at least 6 feet vertically or 10 feet horizontally away from other antennas Use high gain (narrow beam width) directional antennas The higher the transmit power, the greater the source of interference - but signal strength drops off exponentially with distance Site surveys are important steps in proper preparation Focus on fade margin (i.e. ignore the Manufacturer s range spec.) Standards Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 9
Secure Wireless Technology Encryption Secured by NIST / IEEE specified systems ensure robust, industrial grade security Examples include: AES 192 / 128 bit encryption Device and Session Keys shared between host system and device Examples include: ISA 100 Individual Message Integrity Check Examples include: MIC for Mesh hop by hop routing White Listing or Join Methods ensure authorized devices only System defenses against network threats Examples include: Denial-of-Service, Twinning, Jamming, Cracking Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 10

Real-time Monitoring Application Issue: A large metropolitan city needs critical real-time monitoring of a public water / wastewater system over long distances. Solution: The distributed PLC s that collect information from a variety of devices at remote sites communicate with the central SCADA by using a combination of Industrial Wireless Ethernet radios and switches. In addition, the Network Management System (NMS) provides monitoring of the entire network. Results: The complete solution of NMS, wireless and wired Ethernet products fulfill the critical monitoring needs along with providing long term cost savings for the city. Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 15
Real-time Monitoring Illustration WATER SYSTEM Critical monitoring and control of a public water / wastewater system serving a large concentrated population Automation islands of PLC, sensors, flowmeter, and comms in an enclosure NMS Software 900MHz Wireless Radios with Serial / Ethernet connectivity Low port count unmanaged Ethernet switches Managed Ethernet switches / Fiber rings Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 16
Remote SCADA Monitoring Application Issue: A local water utility needed to provide pump monitoring/failure alarms and implement a remote SCADA system that could be linked back to the control database. Solution: Industrial Wireless I/O units are installed as a cost effective solution. Pump run and fault status, and wet-well overflow status can now be transmitted back to a central computer easily. Additionally, Industrial Wireless gateways are installed at the pump stations for monitoring and also used for connectivity from an HMI touchscreen to the control SCADA database. Results: An on-line monitoring system is in place and the intelligent network functionality in the Wireless units allow for each pump station to only transmit as far as the nearest pump station, negating the need for expensive mast and antenna installation. The use of gateways provided improved efficiency and visibility across the entire facility from remote locations Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 17
Remote SCADA Monitoring Illustration Aug 5-7, 2014 Orlando, Florida, USA 18
Monitoring and Control Application Issue: Implement a monitoring and control system that will report in real time the condition of the wells, water tanks and pumping sites, control and monitor distant installations from a control room, obtain production information, efficiency and production costs of the different remote sites and access this information through the local Intranet Solution: Design and develop the hardware and software of a SCADA system to control and monitor the sites of the water supply system using telemetry modules and field instrumentation. Results: The use of telemetry modules made the design and implementation of the SCADA system easier and quicker due to its technical characteristics and ease of configuration and operation. Due to the success, additional automation will be implemented throughout other water systems in the region. Benefits have been reflected with more efficiency, time and money savings.
