asic principles P P technology P (Plusink) is a system for controlling light. The system is based on a conventional electrical installation. ommands are sent via P, and there is no need for either software or programming. ll connected units are linked together to form one system using only one additional wire. The P wire carries the mains voltage. P technology distinguishes between sending and receiving units. In every P line, there is at least one unit that is sending and one that is receiving. Sending units These send commands to all receiving units in a line (line control) or along all lines (global control). Sending units are: bbrgus Presence Slave (global control and line control) b b Side controller Plus, gang, complete unit (line control) (referred to below as Side controller Plus) b b Mechanical pushbutton (control of receivers via the P line) Receiving units These carry out the commands sent via global or line control. In addition, they are used for local control of the individual units. Receiving units are: b b RGUS Presence Master with IR, relay gang and gang b b RGUS Presence Master with IR, 0 V b b RGUS Presence Master with IR, I (referred to jointly below as RGUS Presence Master) Example of a P installation P P P4 P3 Global control: Sending unit RGUS Presence Slave (several RGUS Presence Slaves possible on one P line) ine control: Sending unit Side controller Plus, gang, complete unit ocal control: Receiving unit RGUS Presence Master S030 05/3

asic principles P ontrol levels Global control (max. 4 P lines) Global light control is possible using the RGUS Presence Slave: b b amps in several lines are switched on depending on movement and brightness ine control ( P line) System properties b b The P wire carries the mains voltage. b b One P system is operated on one phase. b b o software is required for programming. b b ommands are sent unidirectionally: Information is only transferred from the sending units to the receiving units. ight control in one line is possible with the Side controller Plus: b b Switching all lamps in a line on/off ocal control P In addition, local automatic light control is possible with each receiving unit: b b Individual lamps are switched on depending on movement and brightness P P4 P3 Sending unit (RGUS Presence Slave) Sending unit (Side controller Plus) Receiving unit (RGUS Presence Master) b b ll units in a system are activated simultaneously; individual addressing of linked units via RGUS Presence Slave or Side controller Plus is not possible. b b Each new command overwrites the previous one. b b If several P lines are protected by at least circuit breakers on the same phase then the P extension must be integrated. This automatically splits up the P line if a circuit breaker trips (e.g. for maintenance work or if there are faults). Otherwise, the P line would continue to be live via the other circuit breakers. (See the P extension chapter) S030 05/3 3

asic principles P b b The maximum cable length in a P system is 00 m. Example: Usage recommendations and control examples P is a system for controlling light. The RGUS Presence Slave is required for controlling more than one line. b b n individual P line can be controlled from the Side controller Plus or the RGUS Presence Slave. b b maximum of 0 sending units and 0 receiving units can be integrated into each P line. If both inputs are bridged in a gang insert, this counts as receiving units. If only bridged gang inserts are used, this means a maximum of 5 of them can be connected per P line. 4 S030 05/3

Global control and light control P Global control Global control is performed using the RGUS Presence Slave. s soon as the RGUS Presence Slave detects a movement and sends a command on the P line, all receiving units on all connected P lines perform this command. Several RGUS Presence Slaves are possible on one P line. The following functions can be carried out in combination with an RGUS Presence Master: b b Global light control: Switching lamps on/off Wiring RGUS Presence Slave for the desired application P P3 P4 P P P P3 P4 Sample installations for use in combination with receiving units P P P P3 P4 P P P3 P4 P P P P P3 P4 P P RGUS Presence Slave Side controller Plus P line : Receiving RGUS Presence Master with IR, 0 V P line : Receiving RGUS Presence Master with IR, 0 V S030 05/3 7

ine control P ine control Wiring the Side controller Plus for the application required ine control is provided using the Side controller Plus. s soon as a function is called up on the Side controller Plus, all receiving units on the connected P line perform this command. You can use the Side controller Plus to perform light control for a P line, e.g.: b b Switching lamps on/off P P Sample installation: ight control P P P P P max. 0 Side controller Plus P line with receiving RGUS Presence Masters, relays 8 S030 05/3

ight control depending on movement P RGUS Presence Master with IR rt. no. MT550x9 Presence function The presence function can be deactivated using the IP switch. When the presence function has been deactivated, the unit functions like a normal movement detector. lx Special features b b omplete unit for concealed or surface mounting in the variants: I, 0 V and relay gang and gang b b Presence and movement detector function can be selected b b ight control with I and 0 V variant Setpoint value adjustment via IR remote control (MT570) b b Staircase lighting function with soft start lamp protection in the I and 0 V variants b b Switchable warning function b b 4 hour activation/deactivation of the staircase lighting function possible via P or IR remote control b b Master/slave function possible via P b b onnecting several ceiling detectors together via P permits optimum detection. ccessories b b Surfacemounted housing for RGUS Presence (art. no. MT55069) b b IR remote control istance 00 (art. no. MT570) The unit detects moving heat sources (e.g. people) within an adjustable area of detection and starts a staircase lighting function. The maximum detection radius is approx. 7 m. The angle of detection is 360. s long as a movement is detected, the connected load remains switched on. The adjustable switching duration only begins when no further movements are detected (trigger function). The RGUS Presence Master is equipped with a light sensor with an adjustable detection brightness so that the lighting is only switched on below a specified detection brightness (movement detector function). If there is sufficient natural light, the presence function allows the unit to switch off the lighting even when a person is present E F etection brightness is set to 500 lux. ighting is switched off, brightness in the room is 00 lux. Sensor module detects movement: ighting (400 lux) is switched on. Overall brightness in the room is now 600 lux. aylight and thus the overall brightness in the room increases. E Overall brightness exceeds 900 lux. aylight on its own is now above the detection brightness of 500 lux. The lighting is switched off (after the switching duration has elapsed). F espite detecting movement, the sensor module does not switch on the lighting since there is still sufficient daylight. rea of detection,5 m,0 m 4,0 m bb Internal area of detection (approx. 6 m radius): Movement detection of a seated person due to less movement b b External area of detection (approx. 7 m radius): Movement detection of a person walking due to greater movement Installation E E Flushmounted socket Surfacemounted housing for RGUS Presence (accessory) P insert Screws (included with surfacemounted housing) E Sensor module S030 05/3 9

ight control depending on movement P isplays and operating elements asic function of light control Front The switchable light control (only with I and 0 V variant) keeps the lighting in the room at an almost constant brightness. The sensor module permanently measures the brightness in the room and keeps it at an adjustable setpoint. When movement is detected, the insert initially dims the lighting to the setpoint value. If the ambient brightness changes, the insert dims the lighting accordingly. If sufficient natural light is available, the sensor module will switch the lighting off even if a person is present. red E (in test mode) green E (for 4 h staircase lighting circuit) Example to illustrate light control lx F Rear UX min 0 s 30min Test Time h.
