3 What is the ATT2 Module? PQube 3 add-on module for high voltage DC monitoring The ATT2 module is an optional add-on to your PQube 3. With the ATT2 module, you can record the voltage, current, and power for your high voltage DC application. This module utilizes 2 Analog input channels on your PQube 3. It is powered from 24VDC, which is supplied by the PM2 Power Supply module. The ATT2 module comes in two versions: 600V and 1200V full scale. Two banana jacks are used for the high voltage measurements, and a hall-effect sensor is used for measuring current. For best results, the current sensor is factory-calibrated together with your ATT2 module. NOTE: The ATT2 module can also be used to monitor AC power. Page 3 of 10

5 How to install your ATT2 module Disconnect mains prior to servicing IMPORTANT: Your PQube 3 must be installed only by qualified personnel for electrical installations. Always disconnect all mains connections, and verify disconnections, prior to servicing. In the United States and Canada, the equipment installation shall meet ANSI/NFPA 70, NEC, with CSA C22.1, CEC, Part I or with both as appropriate. In other countries, follow all local installation requirements and regulations. Install PM2 Power Supply module Attach PS2 to the right side of your PQube 3, ensuring that the connector fits snugly. Apply 24VDC from PM2 module to to ATT2 Locate the cable with the 6-pin header. On the end opposite of the header, locate the red and black wires with ferrule tips. Connect the red wire to the POSITIVE 24V DC OUT on the PS2 module. Connect the black wire to the NEGATIVE 24V DC OUT on the PS2 module. Page 5 of 10

7 Install the hall-effect sensor Clamp the hall-effect sensor around either the positive (+) or negative (-) DC line. Ensure that the current in the line flows in the direction of the arrow on the label. Direction of current Connect the ATT2 to the hall-effect sensor Connect the 5-pin cable to its corresponding header on the ATT2 module. Connect the other end of the cable to the white 4-pin header on the hall-effect sensor. Page 7 of 10

8 Connect the high voltage DC inputs Connect the red shrouded banana jack cable to slot 1 on the ATT2, and the other end to the POSITIVE DC voltage source. Connect the black shrouded banana jack cable to slot 2 on the ATT2, and the other end to the NEGATIVE DC voltage source. + - Connect instrument power to the PM2 Power Supply module Connect the VAC power source to the AC IN terminals on the PM2 module VAC source Page 8 of 10

9 Configuring your PQube 3 for use with the ATT2 module Set the ratios for each Analog channel Edit your setup file using a text editor or the PQube 3 Configurator program and navigate to the [Analog_Ratios] section. If you have an ATT2-600V module, set your AN1-E_Channel_Ratio to 100:1. If you have an ATT2-1200V module, set your AN1-E_Channel_Ratio to 200:1. Use the primary and secondary rating of your hall effect sensor to set your AN2-E_Channel_Ratio. For example, if you have an ATT2-600V module with 50A:4V DC current sensor, you would use the following values: ; -- Valid values: from 1:1 up to 10000:1. You can use fractional values. AN1-E_Channel_Ratio=100:1 AN2-E_Channel_Ratio=50:4 Configure your PQube to record DC power and energy Your PQube can multiply the AN1-E channel by the AN2-E channel to display DC Power. Navigate to the [Analog_Ratios] section of your setup file and edit the following tag: ; Valid Values: ON OFF ; AN Energy Mode assumes that AN1 is voltage and AN2 is current, ; and turns on AN power and energy measurements. ; Turn this tag ON if using an optional ATT2 module. AN_Energy_Mode=ON Customize the names of your Analog channels You can customize the name of the AN1-E channel and AN2-E channel, and you can specify the measurement units. ; Use this section of tags to customize the names and units of your analog channels. ; Analog energy mode does not have to be on for this. ; Valid names can be up to 5 characters. ; Valid values for units are "V", "A", "W", "DEG", "%", "NONE" Analog_1_Channel_Name="DCV" Analog_1_Channel_Unit="V" Analog_2_Channel_Name="DCA" Analog_2_Channel_Unit="A" Page 9 of 10

10 Set the Analog channels to LOW range Set the Analog_Range value to LOW so your PQube can correctly read the signals from your ATT2 module. ; The analog range, acceptable values are HIGH or LOW Analog_Range=LOW Congratulations!
