OVERVIEW OVERVIEW Hot Link is Atronic's new progressive link featuring a high frequent hitting progressive jackpot. The jackpot can be won by playing max bet per line, making it a very attractive prospect to all types of players. The Concept This symbol driven progressive concept allows the operator to select any Hot Link capable title and insert it into a progressive bank. All games on a Hot Link progressive provide a unique rapid hit progressive paytable and also support an on-screen progressive meter advertising the jackpot amount. A combination of top symbols on any active payline triggers the Hot Link jackpot. Additionally the jackpot can be mystery triggered, however, the main focus is on the symbol driven trigger. Playing max credits on more than 1 line increases the probabiliy to win the jackpot. Hot Link also supports hidden jackpots or may be set up as a fixed price jackpot. Merchandising Package Hot Link features a unique merchandising package with an attractive multimedia animation promoting the jackpot. The Hot Link jackpot can be further promoted by adding themed lightboxes, machine bases, toppers and chairs, creating a fully merchandised environment. Games Hot Link is available for selected titles from the Harmony and e-motion games library. Atronic Progressive Link Hot Link uses the Atronic Progressive Link (APL) hardware platform to link the machines. An external jackpot controller is not required. Atronic gaming machines come with a Commboard which features a build in progressive jackpot controller. Signage A Hot Link progressive usually comes with a signage which features one or two plasma screens driven by the Media Controller, which is a small PC with a customized display software. It plays video sequences and displays the current jackpot values, received from the APL link.

OVERVIEW OVERVIEW Hardware Components / Package Hot Link packages are available tailored to customer needs. The normal recommendation for a Hot Link core package* would consists of: Hot Link games Signage including plasma (or LCD) screens Media Controller including operating system and Hot Link display software. Media Controller connection kit UPS power backup unit for the Media Controller APL Cabeling *Customized packages tailored to customer needs are available. Game themed accessories such as base stands, woodfillers, dividers, lightboxes, murals and chairs are available optional.

OVERVIEW GENERAL CONFIGURATION NOTES When configuring Hot Link, there are a few things to consider: Progressive Calculation The Hot Link progressive parameters (such as base value and increment) are calculated by means of the Atronic Progressive Calculation Sheet. During order processing you received a copy of this calculation sheet which determines the parameters for a particular Hot Link installation. To avoid incorrect payout percentages, do not use other values than stated in this document. If an alteration of the progressive parameters becomes necessary, please ask your local sales represantative for a recalculation. Base Value Since Hot Link is a regular, symbol driven, single level progressive, it is recommended to use at least the top award value as base value for the progressive jackpot. Linking Philosophy All liner versions can be linked. All 21 line versions and higher, including Superplay (2 and lines) and X-Tension ( lines) can be linked due to the fact, that the hit rate on max credits per 1 line is the same. Both e-motion and Harmony machines may be used within a Hot Link link. The layout of such a link should be carefully designed for optimal appearance. Jackpot Handpays The trigger threshold for jackpot handpays is determined by the Celebration Limit setting. A win that exceeds the Celebration Limit will trigger jackpot handpay. A win (incl. progressive wins) below the Celebration Limit will not trigger a handpay. The Celebration Limit default setting is the top award of the game. See also section Machine Configuration / Celebration Limit on page 8. Jackpot presentation with handpay message. 7

OVERVIEW GENERAL CONFIGURATION NOTES Paytable Classification Hot Link uses paytables of classification "R". Other paytable versions are not applicable with Hot Link. The paytable classification can be identified by the paytable naming. It is the third last digit of the paytable naming (followed by the paytable percentage). For example: Paytable MYJO1-I-MA-STD Rxx is a paytable of class R. It is applicable with Hot Link. Paytable MYJO1-I-MA-STD Axx is a paytable of class A. It is not applicable with Hot Link. Progressive Revision Level When mixing game titles of different software levels, the Commboard software in such a mixed link must have the same or a compatible Progressive Revision Level. Following Progressive Revision Levels are compatible: Progressive Revision Level A B C D E F F APL1 APL1 APL1 APL1 APL1 APL1 APL2 A APL1 X X X X B APL1 X X X X C APL1 X X X X D APL1 X X X X E APL1 X X F APL1 X X F APL2 X The Progressive Revision Level can be identified by the commboard software naming. It is the fifth last digit. Example: Commboard software HCB-Q_-S-ME-STD_-F-8A is compatible to HCB-Q_-S-MO-STD_-E-8A, when using APL I mode (like Hot Link does). 8

SETUP ATRONIC PROGRESSIVE LINK What is APL? Hot Link uses Atronic Progressive Link (APL) technology to link the participating gaming machines. APL provides a very simple way to link Atronic games to a local area progressive. Setting up a progressive using the APL is quite easy as the internal progressive system is operated via the Commboard of the machine. By simply linking directly from one machine Commboard to another, up to 2 Hot Link games can be linked to a progressive. The APL requires no external controller. The APL is designed to be flexible and user friendly and operates with one machine acting as the master and the other machines in the link as slaves. The decision about which game is the master is not pre determined and can therefore be selected via a dipswitch on the Commboard. More importantly if the master machine fails, another machine in the link can be appointed as the master via the dipswitch so no data is lost and the progressive remains active. The entire set up of the progressive jackpot and configuration for all the machines in the link is carried out on the master machine via a connection between a PC and the main board. The progressive jackpot is automatically displayed via an on-screen meter (in-machine display) and one or more plasma screens. Harmony games display the on-screen jackpot meter directly on the game screen, while e-motion games display it on their additional upper screen using e-motion dual screen technology. e-motion upper screen with on-screen jackpot meter (in-machine display). Harmony game screen with on-screen jackpot meter (in-machine display). 1

CONFIGURATION MACHINE CONFIGURATION Service Menu The Service Menu provides several settings and options that can be adjusted during normal machine operation (see overview on next page). To access the Service Menu, open the main door and press the service button at front of the logic box. Recommended Service Menu Settings: Celebration Limit The celebration limit determines the threshold for jackpot handpays. A win exceeding the celebration limit initiates a win celebration and needs to be acknowledged by an attendant using the jackpot key. Important: A progressive jackpot win does not automatically initiate a handpay! The win amount has to exceed the celebration limit, in order to initiate a jackpot handpay. You may adjust the celebration limit settings to meets the requirement of your operations. Example: A win exceeding 2. Euro should lock the machine and initiate a handpay. 1. Open Service Menu / Settings / Game / Celebration Limit and set the celebration limit to ON. 2. Adjust both the upper celebration limit and the lower celebration limit to 2. Euro. (the exact value of the upper limit does not matter in this case).. Set the celebration limit destination to HANDPAY.. Save settings by touching the SAVE on-screen button. Note: The Celebration Limit default setting is equal to the machines top award (highest line win with max bet per line). Sound and Volume Settings If you use the background music and the sound effects played by the Media Controller, you might wish to adjust the game sound and volume setting. Open the Service Menu and navigate to Settings / Machine / Sound. This menu provides several options to adjust the sound settings in detail. After adjustment touch the SAVE button on-screen to save the settings.
