Field tests Where Population Network extension [km] Technology Why 1) Ozzero Step Test Network with few loops 2) Carpiano Noise Logger 3) Buscate Algorithms 4) Truccazzano LMT Toverify the efficiencyof noise system in industrial area with high daily traffic Recent CAP acquisition and critical Network with few loops and few connections, recent acquisitionin CAP and critical 5) Ozzero RMS analisys RemoteMonitoring System Referred to a specific case study
1 -StepTest Zone: Ozzero Pipe lenght investigated: 2 pipe of 1 km each Instruments: Remote Control System + flow meter Nr employees: 2 workers, 1 technician Results: By closing 2 valves we identified the pipe with the biggest leak and the amount of the leak (about 3 l/s) in order to reduce the area to investigate. Close Valve 1 Open Valve 1 Close Valve 2 Open Valve 2
2 -NoiseLogger Zone: Carpiano Loc Francolino (industrial area) Pipe lenght investigated: 5 km Instruments: 17 noise sensors Nr employees: 2 workers, 1 technician Results: During the first week of monitoring we find 3 big leaks. After repair we discover other 4 smaller leaks
3 -Leakage detection with algorithms Zone: Buscate Pipe lenght investigated: 34 km Instruments: 10 pressure sensors 5 flow meters Nr employees: external company Results: Identification of 6 different zones with different leakage rate. ZONE 1 LeakageRate 25% ZONE 2 LeakageRate 26% ZONE 3 LeakageRate 25% ZONE 4 LeakageRate 28% ZONE 5 LeakageRate 18% ZONE 6 LeakageRate 38%
4 - Leakage Measurement Test Zone: Truccazzano Pipe lenght investigated: 4 pipes for a total of 1,8 km Instruments: - Nr employees: 2 workers + external company Results: Identification of leakage amount in each investigated pipe
5 -Remote MonitoringSystem realcase Zone: Ozzero Pipe lenght investigated: 13 km Instrumens: Flow meters Nr employees: 1 technician Results: By analizing the remote monitoring system we find out a pipe burst event (leak of 6 l/s) New Pipe Burst (6 l/s) Repair after 15h
Zone: to be defined Pipe lenght investigated: km Instruments: Satellite images Nr employees: external society 6 - Future test: Satellite Expected Results: Identification of major leaks in wide areas where concentrate leakage research team
Conclusions In 2016 CAP started application of IWA Water Loss methodology and tested several different leakage detection technologies Each technology has its own application field: no one fits all solution Basis for next steps in operation for water distribution improvements Basis to define basic requirements for a coordinated large scale leakage management project
