Key Functionality - Major New Plot Capability New Fiber Management Schematic Configuration Taper Point Feature and functionality Bill of Materials Report Import Feature for GPS Aerial & Underground path ownership G/Comms ISP Termination Cable length As-Built updates
New Plot Capability Simple placement of plot frames in a map window. Supports both fixed size & scale or ADHOC plots Supports fixed map scale inside the plot frame. Provide different plot templates by user (i.e. Engineering, Planning, Operations. Allows rotation of the plot frame in the mapwindow Auto population of plot attribute data in the plot template fields (plan #, Name, Tel #, job #, etc ) Supports multiple; types, plot sizes and scales in a job.
New Plot Capability Default or selectable legends. Style substitution Legend overrides. Auto insert for: Grouped redlines Title block Notes Border Mapframe with polygons content at the specified scale North arrow Create a single plot from multiple user inputs Plot frame attribute updates in the map window can be automatically updated in the plot window.
New Plot Capability Demonstration
Taper Point Feature and functionality Planning and engineering functionality Supports network analysis at strategic points in the network Placement tool for slash line with taper point ID Intelligent relationship of slash line to cables in the taper point section Used for growth & network capacity analysis
Bill of Materials Report Generic Bill of Materials function Provides list of materials in a specific job List can be by plan number Shows all materials and cost of material Can include placement costs based on standard material units
Import Feature for GPS GPS import generic sample. Provides a basic import capability for data from a field GPS data collection unit. Can be extended as required for a specific customer implementation requirement.
Aerial & Underground path ownership Path is location on a map that represents where multiple cables may be buried in the same trench or attached to the same poles Reduces congestion of graphic lines in the view Important in many European and Asia areas where there is unbelievable network congestion.
G/Comms ISP Termination Supports the placement of: Scaled floor plans in a detail view Equipment footprint on the floor plan Rack elevation view of equipment in a rack Placement GUI to add, move, edit, remove devices in a rack Connection of OSP fiber cables to the equipment in a rack Cable and device configuration utility
Cable length As-Built updates Supports the automated update of As-Built updates to cable lengths based on the sheath length readings provided by the construction teams A GUI provides a list of all cable sections and identifies which sections have sheath length values in the system. User can review all cables and determine which items are to be updated as the actual length and update the actual lengths in the database.
Key Functionality - Minor Plot Job Count Updates Loop Makeup Report Transition Related Features Duct Occupancy AOI Containment Poles & Manholes AOI Containment Terminals Trace cables Update Feature attributes Pole ownership for cables Tool Tip including pair count Work Plan Report

Key Functionality - Minor Trace cables Update Feature attributes Pole ownership for cables
Key Functionality - Minor Tool Tip including pair count Work Plan Report Generates a Work Plan Report with all features of an active Job. An Active Job is required. The report will only display the features that have been placed in the Activate Job. The user must click on a Feature to be able to execute the Report. The Job must contain at least one Feature / ARB/ Work Plan Boundary placed on it.
G/Comms Agenda Communication Industry trends Fiber management Inside Plant Terminations Schematics Network & Circuit Summary Q & A
Communications Industry Trends Fiber Management Capability for: FTTx - PON Transport Fiber Fiber rings xdsl (using fiber to the node) ISP terminating equipment Cost Containment through: Staff reductions More efficient process/workflows Support centralized and distributed engineering design Elimination of duplicate process & data sources Standardization Retain their customer base: Provide superior service Minimal service interruptions/rapid service restoration Deliver latest services and technology available Deploy new services and technology quickly: First to deploy grabs larger market share Perceived as a market leader
xpon Design Standards There are probably as many different deployment configurations as there are companies deploying PON networks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too much Information.
Fiber Management Traditional Telco s Pair Count Model Cable Level design Splice based on cable annotation No strand level attribution New Fiber Splice Model Spice level connectivity Individual fiber strand management Auto splice connection on straight through splices New user functionality in Drag-n-Drop splice GUI Equipment in splices place through splice GUI Consistent processes for productivity
New Fiber Management Placement Demonstration
ISP Termination Support for placement of ISP devices (ISP Inventory) Rack elevation view of equipment Detail floor plans support building cable and rack location view Port level connectivity between devices and OSP cable Integration with 3 rd party ISP Provisioning and Service Activation systems
ISP (Inside Plant) Termination
ISP Termination Demonstration
Equipment Configuration Tool IWareCfg.exe Cable and equipment configuration utility Allows definition of: Feature Attriibutes Tubers, rinnons, bundles (for cables) Dimensions Graphic representation (front & back) Internal port connectivity
IWareCfg.exe Configuration Tool Demonstration
Network Schematics Traditional Telco s Pair Count Model Cable path schematic Cable pair schematic Supports any trace function, presents the trace results in a schematic view Schematic can contain annotation, devices, cross-connect cabinets New Fiber Schematic Generated from the Circuit trace report Trace cable path and circuit path Show equipment, splices and annotation Show multiple, interactive windows (geo view, schematic cable view, circuit trace view, geo-schematic view, detail views)
Tracing the Network for a schematic There are two types of traces; a Cable trace and a circuit or individual fiber strand trace. A cable trace follows the path of the complete cable A circuit or fiber strand follows the path of a connected single fiber through the network.
Cable Path Trace & Schematic Demonstration
Single Fiber or Circuit Trace & Schematic Demonstration
Summary Significant additions to G/Comms to support Fiber Management for: Traditional fiber networks Passive Optical Networks FTTx ISP Terminations Include scaled floor plans in a Detail view Place equipment footprints Rack elevation view of equipment Connection of OSP fiber to the ISP Equipment Bridge the backside for IN-OUT fibers Schematics to support: Cable path schematic of fiber networks Single fiber strand schematics of circuits ISP Equipment and customer equiment in the schematic Direct access to Feature Explorere from the schematic
Summary Significant additions to the basic G/Comms application in the last 12 months Addition of New Fiber Management supports the latest technologies like PON FTTx ISP functionality supports the inventory and connectivity of ISP devices to the OSP network and provides the framework for better integration with ISP provisioning systems G/Comms continues to be a leading solution for the communications industry Additional capabilities are being identified and we will continue to enhance the G/Comms solution
