7 3. Project objective To accelerate transformation of the lighting market in Peru through enhanced promotion and implementation of use of energy saving lamps (ESLs) and the reduction of incandescent lamp (ILs) imports and sale

Project progress Articulated Work: Government and Consumers Training workshops on Inspection and Market Surveillance directed at Authorities: The proposal of the System of Monitoring, Verification and Inspection of MEPS for lighting equipment has been elaborated. Training workshops on Energy Efficiency Labeling and Surveillance have been held, for experts Authorities and target groups. Training to the Market: 37 supervisors and sellers of recognized stores were trained. 80 sellers of lighting equipment in markets. Training 500 lamp sellers to turn them into "Promoters" of efficient lighting.

15 Results of the Project to homologation sheets of mandatory lamps for the public sector. (Different types of lamps). Developed the proposed of Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEPS) for lamps. Preparation of MEPS Regulatory Impact Assessment Study, which includes cost-benefit analysis of its implementation 01 National Test Laboratory in process of accreditation by INACAL. Lamp tests of the Peruvian Market in International Accredited Laboratory (LFC, LFL, LED lamps) Replacement Program for 1.5 million LEDS bulbs - technical specifications, bases, waste management and local media outreach and marketing campaign. (In process) Reduction of Emissions (Tn CO 2 /year

Conclusions and recommendations The project focus on the residential lighting market which represents: Installed power : MW (92,0 % of total) Billing : 982 millones de soles (81,1 % of total) Annual energy consumption : GW.h (81,1 % total of total) The replacement of more efficient lamps in the market allows to reduce CO 2 and the Environmental Risk of Content of Mercury in Lamps. It's required to reduce the Misleading Advertising and promote the Labeling and Lamp Quality. A regulation is required that: Define and update MEPS according to the latest technological changes, having a vision for the future. Implement complementary regulations for direct and effective supervision.
