4 General Requirements for Measuring Instruments OIML TC5/SC: Environmental Conditions NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: Ralph Richter OIML D is important because it provides a general reference for testing requirements on all measuring instruments The US participated in a meeting of OIML TC5/SC to discuss the D document and international comments on the CD in Utrecht, The Netherlands, in June 0 Comments on the CD of D are due 5 March 0 to Ralph Richter of NIST OWM 4

5 Dynamic Measurement of Liquids Other Than Water OIML TC8/SC NIST Office of Weights and Measures and OIML Co-Sec Contact: Ralph Richter U.S. chairs the IWG that is developing the new OIML R 7- and R 7-. The CD for R 7- " Test Methods " will be distributed in Feb 0. Comments on the CD will be due in May 0. A TC8/SC subcommittee meeting is being planned for June 0. Location: TBD. 5

6 Water Meters OIML TC8/SC5 NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: Ralph Richter OIML + ISO + CEN are working together to harmonize requirements for water meters (using OIML R49 as basis) Joint OIML + ISO + CEN water meter meeting was be hosted by NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland, November 8-0, 0 6

7 Gas Metering OIML TC8/SC7 NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: Ralph Richter A significant new ANSI performance-based standard for gas meters in the U.S. is being developed The new ANSI B09 standard is harmonized with OIML R 7 7

8 Belt-Conveyor Scale Systems OIML TC9/SC NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: John Barton rd Committee Draft of R50- incorporated new accuracy class (0.) and technologies (belt mapping, whole belt totalization) 4th Committee Draft of R50- has now been circulated, with deadline of March 0, 0, for receipt of comments. A Working Draft of R50- (test report format) was circulated among TC9/SC members last year. Comments were provided to the Secretariat who will incorporate them into a st Committee Draft. 4 Anyone interested in the revision of this Recommendation, please contact John Barton 8

9 Prepackaged Products OIML TC6 NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: Ken Butcher The rd CD of OIML Certification System for Prepackages (OIML IQ Mark), was received and reviewed in December. The U.S. continues to oppose development of this system and sent a No ballot to the Secretariat. Received and reviewed the nd CD of OIML R79 Labeling Requirements in December. The proposed requirements in the CD were found to be consistent with NIST Handbook 0 so the U.S. sent a Yes ballot to the Secretariat. OIML R87 Quantity of Product in Prepackages is undergoing revision and will be distributed for review later this spring. The next meeting of TC6 will be held in Japan in the Fall of 0. 9

10 OIML Certificate System and Mutual Acceptance Arrangement (MAA) OIML TC/SC5 NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: Chuck Ehrlich Revision of OIML Basic Certificate System document (B) and OIML Mutual Acceptance Arrangement (MAA) document (B0) passed the vote at last year s CIML meeting in Prague International use of OIML MAA is increasing rapidly Acceptance of test data from manufacturers (under controlled supervision) in MAA still under discussion (would be voluntary) 4 TC/SC5 P-Members are voting on criteria that would allow such test data in MAA (votes due February, 0) 0

11 OIML Conformity to Type Program (CTT) OIML TC/SC? (new) NIST Office of Weights and Measures Contact: Chuck Ehrlich Two Seminars on this topic were held last year: Utrecht, The Netherlands (June) and Prague, Czech Republic (October) New OIML Subcommittee (called Conformity to Type ) formed under TC; Co-Secretariats are New Zealand and the BIML Main work item is to develop a guidance document that takes into account US and European Best Practices
