1 1 of 5 1/28/ :27 PM BDA Program Program Mission/Purpose The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Business Data Analytics (BDA) program is to prepare students to understand the foundation of business data analytics and to apply business data analytics skills in business environment. Program s The goals of the Bachelor of Science in Business Data Analytics (BDA) program include Core Business goals and goals specific to the major. Data modeling, database design, development of database applications 2. Programming logic and techniques necessary for developing business data applications 3. Data processing and descriptive analytics for business intelligence 4. Business analytics for prediction, forecasting and business optimization Program Implementation The BDA program delivers a core set of courses that blends theory with practice exercises using evolving technology platforms. Course-related assessment will focus on three areas: (a) departmental assessment of course offerings; (b) departmental assessment of student achievements in relation to learning outcomes; and (c) student assessment of courses. The department will annually review all syllabi of active courses in the department to assure that courses adequately prepare students to meet stated program objectives and learning outcomes. Performance Objective 1. Database Design and Development These skills will be assessed through assignments in 3505 Introduction to Database Management via exams and a project. Students will be able to understand the fundamental concepts of databases including costs and benefits of database approach, database design lifecycle and the relational data model, and will participate in the hands-on design and implementation of a database using the relational architecture and a database management system Conceptual analysis of databases Database design Database Implementation

Programming Techniques These skills will be assessed through assignments in 3505 Introduction to Database Management and 3510 Data Analytics I Programming logic and techniques necessary for developing business data applications and building databases. SQL to query, update and manage a database Programming in Visual Basic Objective 3. Data Processing These skills will be assessed through assignments in 3511 Data Analytics II via quizzes and exams. Students will get the necessary knowledge of data retrieval, data preparation and data cleaning such as dealing with missing values and outliers. Data Preparation Data Retrieval Data Cleaning

Students will get acquainted with fundamentals of PivotTables to organize large amounts of data and will learn how to fit models and produce specialized graphs to explore data in a detailed and statistics-oriented manner PivotTables Pivot Charts Visualization Techniques Objective 5: Predictive Analytics Skills Outcomes will be assessed in 3510 Data Analytics I and 3511 Data Analytics II via quizzes and exams. Students will be introduced to quantitative forecasting models, predictive modeling and model assessment and implementation.
