7 GENERAL 1. GENERAL 1.1. PRODUCT INFORMATION This user manual contain instructions and specifications for installation and use of HEU Hydraulic Expansion Unit. Hydraulic expansion unit HEU E is designed for reliable and controlled expansion of rock-bolts. HEU is a compact unit assembled on a steel chassis being comprised of a pressure converter with all necessary components and instrumentation. HEU unit can be installed to any mining machine and operated whether from a platform or from ground. Completed with an expansion gun and water hose of proper length and pressure class, HEU unit assures effective carrying out of any bolting project PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION KEY HEU E Picture 1: Product identification key 1. 11 SAFETY 2. SAFETY 2.1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS The pressure in both hydraulic and water circuits of HPW pump is considerably high. Keep the condition of your equipment and hydraulic system under constant observation. WARNING HIGH PRESSURE WATER AND OIL! Can cause severe injuries. Always wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment. Operators and maintenance personnel must always comply with local safety regulations and precautions in order to close out the possibility of damages and accidents. Couplings, valves and hoses should be maintained tight and clean to avoid possible leakages of and hot blowouts. Hydraulic leakages must be rectified immediately to avoid user and bystander injuries. Follow all your local safety instructions related to the high pressure hydraulics. In order avoid accidents, it is not allowed to clean or inspect HEU unit when hydraulic fluid circuit is pressurized. Prior to any cleaning, inspection and service, hydraulic system of your base machine must be stopped and all hydraulic fluid circuits must be depressurized. Prevent nozzles, water circuit and pipeline from freezing. Draining and air flushing of the water circuit have to performed before ambient temperature reaches 0 C or lower SAFETY EQUIPMENT Always wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment such as safety goggles, ear protection and safety shoes at all times when operating the HEU unit. 12 SAFETY 2.3. OPERATING SAFETY Never aim high pressure water at a person. HIGH PRESSURE WATER! WARNING Never aim high pressure water at a person. This can cause severe injuries. ATTENTION! Do not exceed the maximum pressure, temperature or load SAFETY WHEN MAINTENANCE NOTE! When carrying out any maintenance to HEU unit keep the components of the system clean. This is to ensure safe, reliable and longlife operation of your equipment. Hydraulic system of the base machine should be maintained according to the service program. 13 SAFETY 2.5. WARNING LABELS Warning labels are included with each main product. Product recipient is obligated to place warning labels on the DYNASET product. Attach labels to visible and appropriate place or close to DYNASET product where it s easily seen. Clean surface with solvent detergent before attaching labels. READ OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. 15 OPERATING PRINCIPLES 3. OPERATING PRINCIPLES 3.1. OPERATING DESCRIPTION 1. Rock bolt is inserted to the expanding gun and put into drill hole. 2. When starting the expansion the HEU unit fills the rock bolt with water and expands it by increasing water pressure in it. Rock bolt expands and attaches to the wall of the drill hole. 16 OPERATING PRINCIPLES 3. After the set pressure is achieved and bolt is expanded, HEU-unit automatically releases the water pressure via drain line. After the pressure is released expanding gun can be removed from attached rock bolt. NOTE! 17 INSTALLATION 4. INSTALLATION 4.1. BEFORE INSTALLATION ATTENTION! Read the instructions before installing the DYNASET product! 4.2. INSTALLING HEU UNIT MAXIMUM INCLINATIONS Maximum inclination angle on X-axis is ±70 º and on Y-axis is free. X Picture 4: Inclination angles Y ATTENTION! Rubber cushions don t hold up the stress caused by large inclination angles. Remove rubber cushions when installing at large inclination angle. 19 INSTALLATION CONNECT TO THE WATER SUPPLY LINE Connect water supply line pipe to the intake port (S). Picture 7: Connectiing water supply line NOTE! Minimum water feed pressure is 3 bar CONNECT TO THE DELIVERY LINE Connect the delivery (pressure) line to the Water Pressure port (WP). 20 INSTALLATION CONNECT TO THE DRAIN LINE Connect proper hose to the Drain port (DR). Direct the hose to under the base machine or other safe place. If electric Load Sensing is used or Load Sensing is not in use, LS-port needs to be pluged. 23 OPERATION 5. OPERATION 5.1. STARTING THE HEU UNIT ATTENTION! Before starting the HEU unit, make sure that all couplings in hydraulic and pumping fluid circuits are properly connected and there are no leakages over the equipment. Ensure intake line s strainer/filter is clean, there is water feed to HEU units intake line and feed pressure is 3 to 40 bar. When the engine of carrier machine is running and hydraulic flow is available, the HEU unit can be started by switching on the +24 VDC in supply line. Picture 13: HEU start ATTENTION! 24 OPERATION 5.2. BOLTING NOTE! Before staring the bolting sequence make sure bolt is correctly attached to the expanding gun. 1. Bolting sequence starts when operator pulls and holds down the trigger of the expanding gun. 25 OPERATION NOTE! Pull and hold the trigger until the bolting sequence is completed. 3. After bolting sequence is complete HEU unit releases water pressure via drain line. 4. Release trigger of expanding gun and pull the expanding gun away from the bolt. 2 1 NOTE! If bolting pressure is not achieved in a 40 second time frame, HEU unit interrupts the bolting and water pressure is released via the drain line EMPTY/RELEASE (ERROR) If there is a error in bolting and pressure is not automatically released (after 40s.) Bolting can be canceled by releasing the trigger of expanding gun (1). 26 OPERATION In boom bolting unit bolting sequence can be canceled by closing water flow to the bolting unit (1). Release pressure in bolt with valve in boom bolting unit (2) STOPPING THE HEU UNIT HEU unit is stopped by switching off the +24 VDC in supply line. 27 MAINTENANCE 6. MAINTENANCE Due to small number of moving parts, in normal operating conditions HEU unit is low maintenance. It does not require any other service, except replacement of sealings or occasionally replacement of water valves, which depends on content of abrasives in pumping fluid, as well as on cleanliness of hydraulic oil. Check constantly whether the fluid dropping from pump s leakage detectors is growing and replace sealing in proper time to exclude intermixing of hydraulic oil and pumping fluid. To enable the easy surveillance, pump should be kept clean. ATTENTION! Before starting any maintenance or repair, ensure that the system is stopped and completely depressurized. Prevent the system start without authorization MAINTENANCE INTERVAL All maintenance must be complied with as they are scheduled in this manual. The following table provides maintenance schedule for DYNASET HEU hydraulic expansion units. Check constantly whether the fluid dropping from pump s leakage detectors is growing. Replace sealing in proper time to exclude intermixing of hydraulic oil and pumping fluid. 28 MAINTENANCE 6.2. HYDRAULIC FLUIDS Wide range of standard hydraulic fluids can be used with the Dynaset hydraulic equipment. Depending on the operating temperature, following mineral hydraulic oils are recommended: Mineral hydraulic oil Operation temperature up to ISO VG 32S 60 C ISO VG 46S 70 C ISO VG 68S 80 C NOTE! Recommended oil viscosity is between 10 to 35 cst when operating at normal operating temperature. Synthetic and bio-oils can be used if their viscosity characteristics and lubricating efficiency are corresponding to above mineral oils. Automatic transmission fluids and engine oils can be used also, provided that they are allowed to be used in hydraulic system of your carrier machine. To use special hydraulic fluids with DYNASET equipment, please contact nearest DYNASET representative for an advice CLEANING OF THE HEU UNIT ATTENTION! CHANGING HPW PUMP SEALINGS Instructions for changing pump sealings can be found in HPW User Manual CHANGING TO LOWER PRESSURE LEVEL When using lower pressure level bolts pressure reducing valve and maximum pressure value needs to be adjusted PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE ADJUSTMENT 1. 30 MAINTENANCE 2. Remove the cap nut and loosen the set screw (five turns ccw) NOTE! Don t remove the set screw. Make sure sealing ring stays in place. 3. Start the Bolting sequence. 4. Observe the pressure gauge and turn the set screw slowly clockwise until target pressure has been reached. 200 Target pressure bar bar NOTE! Adjust the target pressure 20 bar over the desired output pressure. 31 MAINTENANCE NOTE! If the adjustment is not ready in time, restart the bolting sequence and adjust again. 6. Install the cap nut. Tighten it into torque of 25 Nm. 25 Nm NOTE! 33 MAINTENANCE 6.6. TROUBLESHOOTING FAILURE REASON CORRECTIVE ACTION +24VDC supply line not connected Check and enable +24VDC supply line. HEU unit does not work. No water intake. Intake hose detached or hose breathes. Water supply line clogged. Hydraulic flow reversed. Hydraulic pressure too low. Feed pressure too low Check and enable water intake. Check and fix the hose and connectors. Check strainer or water filter and clean it thoroughly. Check and reconnect hydraulic hoses. Pressure hose should be connected to P-port and return hose to T-port. Adjust the hydraulic pressure. Check the feed pressure and adjust if necessary. FAILURE REASON CORRECTIVE ACTION Hydraulic flow too low. Check and adjust the hydraulic flow. Water pressure not high enough. Hydraulic pressure too low. Inner water leakage Adjust the hydraulic pressure. Check water valve of HPW pump and replace if necessary Bolt expander tool leakage. Check the expander tool and replace if necessary. FAILURE REASON CORRECTIVE ACTION Water flow rate too small Insufficient hydraulic flow of the base machine. Pressure loss in delivery hose. 35 WARRANTY 7. MANUFACTURER S LIMITED WARRANTY 1. Warranty coverage All hydraulic accessories manufactured by DYNASET OY are subject to the terms and conditions of this limited warranty. Products are warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials or workmanship. Exclusions from warranty are explained in item Exclusions from warranty. 2. Beginning of warranty period Warranty period begins from the delivery date of the product. Delivery is considered to be done on the date when installation has been accomplished or purchaser has taken the product in use. Product is considered as taken in use at the date when DYNASET OY has delivered the product to purchaser, unless separately agreed otherwise by written agreement. 3. Warranty period Warranty period is twenty four (24) months based on maximum of 2000 hours usage during this time period. In cases where the system is provided complete with certain special components (e.g. drive unit), those components are considered as a subject to their manufacturer s warranty. 4. Warranty procedures Immediately upon identifying a problem which purchaser believes to be a failure subject to the product s limited warranty, purchaser must contact primary to the seller of the product. Contact must be made as soon as possible, latest thirty (30) days after the problem was identified. Seller and/or manufacturer technical staff determines the nature of the problem primarily by phone or . Purchaser commits to give necessary information and to perform routine diagnostic procedures in order to determine the nature of the problem and necessary procedures. 5. Warranty repairs If the product is found to be defective during the warranty period, DYNASET OY will, at its option, either repair the product, author it to be repaired at its authorized workshop or exchange the defective product. If the product must be repaired elsewhere than premises of DYNASET OY or authorized workshop, all costs excluded from this warranty (traveling and waiting hours, daily allowance, traveling expenses and uninstallation/reinstallation costs) will be charged from the purchaser. If the problem is not covered by this limited warranty, DYNASET OY has the right to charge purchaser of troubleshooting and repairing. 6. Delivery terms of warranty repair If the product is found possible to be defective under this limited warranty and it needs to be repaired, DYNASET OY gives Warranty Return Number (WRN). Items being returned must be shipped, at the purchaser s cost, adequately packed for shipment, to the DYNASET OY or to other location authored by DYNASET OY. 36 WARRANTY 7. Warranty of repaired product Warranty period of the product repaired under this limited warranty continues to the end of original warranty period. 8. Exclusions from warranty This warranty shall not apply to: Failures due to normal wear and tear, improper installation, misuse, abuse, negligence, purchaser selection of improper product to intended use, accident, improper filtration of hydraulic oil or intake water or lack of maintenance. Cost of maintenance, adjustments, installation or startup. Coating, hydraulic oil, quick couplings and interconnection hoses (internal or external to system assemblies). Products altered or modified in a manner not authorized by DYNASET OY in writing. Products which have been repaired during warranty period by others than DYNASET OY or its authorized workshop. Costs of any other damage or loss, whether direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential, arising out of the use of, or the inability to use, the product. Telephone or other communications expense. Product that is used in exceptional conditions, considered to cause excessive wear and tear. 37 PRODUCT DISPOSAL 8. PRODUCT DISPOSAL Dispose and recycle all DYNASET products and their packaging in an environmentally responsible way. Do not dispose used oils, electrical components, batteries or any other hazardous waste with normal waste. They are harmful for the environment and can be recycled for re-use. Contact your local waste recycling facility for more information about recycling hazardous waste. NOTE! Always act according to the waste legislation, regulations and recommendations in waste disposal and waste recycling issued by your local authorities.
