9 From server consolidation to storage consolidation Although many organizations are consolidating servers to save money, we believe that even more money can be saved through storage consolidation and management. There are many hidden storage costs that can be controlled dormant empty space that could be deployed elsewhere, space consumed by obsolete files, and runaway user growth. SRM tools are the most effective means of identifying these areas and an increasing number of IT organizations are deploying SRM tools for that reason.
