2 Corporate Colours The primary colour palette is used in the logo. The extended colour palette is built with a range of blues to create a spectrum that can be utilized in various materials. The secondary colour palette is designed to create energy in the visuals with a variety of bright colours. 4 Primary Logo Full Color Horizontal The CNOOC Limited and Nexen logo is to appear on materials used to depict our company. It represents a unified company. Wherever possible, use the full colour horizontal logo. In all cases, the tagline must be included with the wordmark. The tagline must appear in Univers Oblique, all caps and right justified as it appears here. Typeface For The Tagline Primary Color Primary Color Univers Oblique in all caps is the only typefacethat can be used for the tagline. No substitutions. 6 Primary Logo Clearance & Spacing Horizontal Respect the clearance around the logo to ensure it can be seen clearly. The area marked on this diagram represents the protected space that is needed around the logo. It is based on the width of the n in the Nexen wordmark. No content can be placed in this area. The width of the n equals the space between CNOOC and Nexen. Protected space = width of the n. The height of the n equals 2x the height of the small c in CNOOC. The space between Nexen and the tagline equals the height of the c. The height of the tagline equals.55 of the height of the c. (Univers Oblique is used for the tagline.) The length of the tagline equals Nexen plus the width of the n. The Y is right justified with the end of Nexen. Primary Logo Minimum Size Horizontal Primary Logo Positioning Horizontal Preferred logo placement is at the bottom is at the bottom right or top right in the layout or final design. 1.5" or 150 pixels To maintain legibility, the logo needs to appear at a minimum of 1.5" or 150 pixels wide. 7 Primary Logo Usage DON TS The CNOOC Limited and Nexen logo is to be used in a very specific manner with a consistent appearance. The samples here illustrate incorrect usages of the logo. A CNOOC LIMITED COMPAN Y DO NOT outline the logo. DO NOT change proportions of the logo. DO NOT change colour of the logo. DO NOT change the space between the logos. DO NOT scale the logo. DO NOT place a keyline around the logo. nexen A CNOOC Limited Company DO NOT substitute the font in the logo. DO NOT stretch the logo. DO NOT add a drop shadow on the logo. DO NOT place Nexen ahead of CNOOC. DO NOT delete the tagline from the logo. DO NOT change placement of tagline. DO NOT change the typeface of the tagline. 8 Primary Logo Usage on Solid Colours & Images Use the reverse logo (all white) on black and solid dark coloured backgrounds or images. Use the black or full colour logo on light or neutral coloured backgrounds or images. In all cases, ensure the logo is always legible. Here are some samples of incorrect usage. DO NOT use reverse logo on a light grey background. DO NOT use reverse logo on a light coloured background. 9 Primary Logo Usage on Complicated Images If the photo is complex and legibility of the wordmark is compromised, the logo cannot be placed directly on the image. The black or full colour logo at an 80% transparent white parallelogram can be used as a background. Another acceptable option is to place the black or reverse logo on a solid coloured parallelogram on top of the photo. CNOOC Nexen Employer Brand Guidelines February 29,
10 RESTRICTED LOGO USAGE Corporate Communications Approval Required It is always preferrable to use the horizontal CNOOC Limited and Nexen logo with the tagline as shown below. It is the first and most acceptable version. Use whenever possible. If you are unable to use this version due to space restrictions, please contact the Communications department. 11 Optional Logo Full Color Vertical If a horizontal version cannot be used due to space restrictions, a vertical version is acceptable. This version has restricted usage and requires approval from the Communications department. In all cases, the tagline must be included with the wordmark, centred under the logo and in italicized capital letters. Protected space = width of the n. 17 Graphic Elements The main graphic rectangle is the graphic element that ties the whole look together. It should be used in every layout in some way to help tie in the CNOOC Nexen brand. The graphic box used by CNOOC Nexen is a regualr rectagle shape with a 20 degree angle applied to both vertical edges. Squaring off one of the vertical edges is allowed for bleeding off the edge of a frame. Placing images within the graphic rectangle is allowed. DO NOT Manipulate the shape in any other way.
