5 Windows Movie Maker: A hands on how to... - Video footage: 2-3 minutes long, in groups of 3, on practicum experience. (20 min) - Video editing: individually (30 min) - Video presentations (20 min)
6 Windows Movie Maker: Downloading video from camera 1. Make a new folder named Video Project under Local Disk(C:) 2. Connect camera to computer using an ilink or USB cable; turn it on. 3. Download the video file - Via Scanner and Video Wizard: Simply save the video file in the folder. - Via File Import/drag & drop, depending on the camera's interface setup: If PTP, the camera will appear as a new device If Mass Storage, the camera will show as a Removable Disk 4. Import the file into Movie Maker. Under the Movie Tasks pane, click on import video.
7 Windows Movie Maker: Splitting video clips 1. In the Contents or on the Edit Movie pane (storyboard or timeline view mode), click the video clip. 2. Under the preview monitor: - Click the Play button. - When the clip reaches a point near the place you want to split the clip, click Pause. - Use the playback controls to find the point where you want to split the clip. Click the Split button.
8 Windows Movie Maker: Adding video effects 1. In the Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie click View video effects. 2. Preview effects by double-clicking them and watching the Preview Monitor. 3. Once happy with an effect, drag it from the Video Effects pane, under Edit Movie pane to star box of one of your clips. This adds the effect to the clip 4. In the Preview Monitor, click the Play button to watch your effect in action. If you don't like it, replace it with another effect!
9 Windows Movie Maker: Adding video transitions 1. In The Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie, click View video transitions. 2. Preview transitions by double-clicking them and watching the Preview Monitor. 3. Once happy with a transition, drag it from the Video Transitions pane, under Edit Movie pane to the box B/N two of your clips. This inserts the transition B/N the two clips. 4. In the Preview Monitor, click the Video Transitions pane, under Play button to watch your transition in action. If you don't like it, replace it with a different transition!
10 Windows Movie Maker: Adding titles and credits 1. In the Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie, click Make titles or credits. 2. To add a title before, after, or on top of a clip, click the clip on the Edit Movie pane (timeline view). 3. Choose the type of title you want to add, then enter the text. 4. Click Change the title animation and choose one you like. 5. Click Change the text font and color to see the font type, size, color, and transparency level. 6. Click Done to add title to the movie. 7. In the Preview Monitor, click the Play button to see how your title looks in your video.
11 Windows Movie Maker: Working with audio: Narration & background music 1. In the Movie Tasks pane, under Capture Video, click Import audio or music. Double click on the audio file you wish to use in the background. 2. Drag the song from the collection to the video clip where you want the music to start playing. The song/narration shows on the timeline. 3. Adjust the duration by dragging the right/left edge of the song. 4. You can split the audio file as you did with the video file. 5. Click Play in the Preview Monitor to watch your movie and listen to the background music.
