In an effort to eventually eliminate CDs and become more accessible, we have transformed our computer programs into an online format. This comes with a new teacher dashboard that provides a simple setup and access to student progress/scores. Your students can now study with our programs from any device that can access the internet. Chromebooks. Tablets. Phones (turn off auto-correct and auto-predict). And yes, both Windows and Mac computers. We tried to keep access as simple as possible. Your students will go to and enter a unique team name, their name, and password (all teacher-controlled.) You will now get to see saved scores and results as well as how students misspelled words. We will have information available on our website to assist you with the new setup/changes. During our transition, we will not offer many packages because we didn t want the contents to change every year for the next few years. We also decided to eliminate a few items and consolidate some items. We still offer some Audio CD options such as Alphabetical Tests and Practice Spelling Tests (which now includes both previews and tests). While change is not always easy, we do hope that the online access will increase availability and, therefore, increase access and make students more successful. Good luck this year! Online Computer Program Information When you order any of our online computer programs, you will need to supply an address for each coach so that we can send you the initial setup information. You will then set up your online account and enter your students into the teacher dashboard for that program. If you need help with this, please go to With the unique team name, username, and password that you supply, each student will have his/her own license and access to purchased programs. The high school programs will have ten student licenses. Each A+ program will have twenty student licenses, ten licenses for each grade level coach. If a speller leaves your team for any reason, you can transfer that license to another student. From the teacher dashboard, you will be able to keep track of student progress on tests. All licenses will expire on May 31, 2019.

2 Online Computer Program Descriptions COMPUTER SPELLING TESTS (all grade levels) Your students will be able to print a preview, preview pronunciations, take the test, receive immediate feedback, and print a list of misspelled words. Saved results will be sent to the coach. PART I COMPUTER TESTS (high school only) This computer program with twenty-five tests for proofreading and twenty-three tests for vocabulary will help prepare your students for Part I of the test. There is also a print option for each test. COMPUTERIZED VOCABULARY FLASH CARDS (high school only) Our Computerized Vocabulary Flash Cards program includes all vocabulary words with the dictionary information readily available. Using this program, your students can study the vocabulary words in alphabetical order, in order of our Part I Vocabulary tests, or by category. The program has other options for a variety of methods to study. With this purchase, you have the option to order additional sets of printed Flash Cards at the discounted price. Printed Materials (may require shipping fee) WORD POWER COMPANION (high school only) Our Word Power Companion is a detailed study guide for high school students. Word Power Companion contains the diacritical marks and definitions for all of the words in the UIL Word Power. The words for vocabulary study are in a separate section and have synonyms and antonyms listed where appropriate. Word Power Companion also includes phonetic spellings for all 1500 words, a list of the roots for vocabulary words, illustrative sentences, and more. VOCABULARY FLASH CARDS (high school only) Our printed Vocabulary Flash Cards include all vocabulary words with the dictionary information readily available. These cards can be purchased uncut (printed 6 per page on standard size card stock) or already cut and ready for use. PROOFREADING & VOCABULARY TESTS (high school only) PDF files only. Twenty-five tests for proofreading and twenty-three tests for vocabulary will help prepare your students for Part I of the test. Preview lists and grader s keys are provided. PDFs can be sent directly to the coach s . We no longer offer vocabulary audio CDs. No shipping fee required. USED INVITATIONAL TESTS (high school only) PDF files only. Used Invitational Tests were given at various meets during the season that will be available to you after March 1, Twelve tests are included. 3 Audio CD Based Materials (requires a shipping fee) PRACTICE SPELLING TESTS (audio) individual tests including all of the words on the UIL Word Power (high school list) and A+ Spelling List (junior high and elementary list). Audio includes preview tracks and test tracks. The words on our tests are pronounced at approximately seven words per minute while the preview is pronounced at a faster rate. A printed copy of previews and tests is included. ALPHABETICAL SPELLING TESTS (audio) individual 50 word tests pronounced at a rate of seven words per minute based on the columns in the official UIL list** (go to to download the official list) Invitational & Mock Invitational Tests Important Ordering Information: You must provide an address so that we can send you access to a shared folder that contains the testing materials along with instructions for using the program. Be sure that our address is not filtered or blocked by your security system. Mock Invitationals will now be sent in a shared folder as well. All invitational tests will be available approximately two weeks before a scheduled meet. The invitational tests and mock invitationals are all compatible with Windows only. INVITATIONAL TESTS (Available for all grade levels for use only if your school is hosting an Invitational Meet) The invitational test includes a computer version as well as PDF files so that you can print all of the materials necessary for directing the test in a written format. The computer version will administer a timed test (headphones needed) and then print the graded results! Tests for each grade level will include the appropriate sections and number of words. An audio track with words only will be provided as a resource for your pronouncer The audio for high school will be a fast track to be used only as a tutorial; the words on the audio for grades 3-8 will be pronounced at 5 words per minute. MOCK INVITATIONAL TEST Our Mock Invitational Test will prepare your students for meets that use the computer program for the spelling competition. Using the Mock Invitational Test, your spellers will work through an entire test just as if they were attending a meet. They will see the instructions, hear the audio, work with the timing and delivery, so that there will be no surprises when they attend an invitational meet. In addition, coaches will become familiar with the computer testing experience and printed results before a meet. This includes one computer invitational test (no printed materials.) We are now offering a Mock Invitational for high school that includes outside words. **Official UIL Word Power and A+ Spelling booklets are available for download on the UIL website. NOTE: The dictionary information in our high school materials is from: The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition. This dictionary is an official dictionary for the high school UIL Spelling Competition.
