1 1 Guide for Initial StrataSync Setup for new users and admins This guide is intended to assist the StrataSync administrator or user in the initial set up and configuration of their StrataSync account. It is suggested that the steps below be performed in the order presented. This guide is for informational purposes and not intended to replace the on-line help system available from the Global Navigation Menu in StrataSync. To log in to your Viavi Solutions StrataSync account use this URL in your Web browser: and enter your username and password. Passwords are case sensitive. After logging in, additional help can be found by clicking HELP, in the upper right corner of the screen Please review these instructions in the order listed: 1. PREPARE THE ORGANIZATION HIERARCHY (Optional) If additional sub organizations are desired, they can be created using the Organizations Tab. See On-Line HELP, Organizational Management for more information. 2. CREATE ADDITIONAL USER ROLES (Optional) Default Roles provided are Administrator( for Admin home landing page) and Default (for Tech Landing page) Create any desired additional Roles if desired (Manager, Splicer, Foreman,etc) and add the permissions you want to allow for that role. See On-Line HELP, People Management, Managing User Roles for more information Roles select the user Landing Page (Administrator or Technician), and when setting up user account. Most users will require the Administrator Landing page Remember Administrator roles have all permissions granted be aware of who you grant this role to. Create roles with limited permissions if required. 3. ADD USERS TO THE ACCOUNT People may be added manually or via a csv file import. Usernames must be in the form of a valid address: john_doe2@domain.xxx and must be unique Tech ID must be unique o TECH ID needs be the same as the Tech ID that is entered in the instruments for the Auto Assign function to work properly. Access and Visibility will default to organization level of the currently logged on Administrator. This can be changed to other organization levels, after those other organization levels are added. A confirmation will be sent to the user with a temporary password and their username is Send box is checked

2 2 To use.csv file import (comma separated plain text file) (Optional) A template can be created using the following columns. NOTE that the header row MUST be included and the capitalization as shown below MUST be followed. ADD People (Continued) Username, Password, First name, Last name, Tech ID, Access Enabled, Organization, Role, and Homepage MUST be included. Last 6 columns are optional. Homepage must be ADMIN or TECHNICIAN( Usually will be ADMIN) Access Enabled must be YES or NO ( enable or disable login to account) Template Header: Username,Password,First name,last name,tech ID,Access Enabled,Organization,Role,Homepage,Office Phone number,address,city,state,postal Code,Country Sample data: EastConst@sbo.com,1234qwe,EastConst,Supervisor,EastConst03,Yes,East,supervisor,ADMIN,,,,,,Canada 4. TO MOVE PEOPLE INTO A DIFFERENT ORGANIZATION LEVEL (Optional) Home Page Click PEOPLE View People List Select check boxes of desired People, click ACTIONS- MOVE TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION Select ORGANIZATION to move selected People into. 5. PREPARE THE INSTRUMENTS FOR STRATASYNC ( If Not in Holding Bin) Ensure instruments have at least the minimum required Firmware version installed to enable StrataSync. See On-Line Help, Instrument Preparation for more help. Enter your StrataSync Account ID Number in instrument StrataSync Configuration screen Enter Tech ID in instrument( Use same Tech ID as entered in StrataSync People Table) Click "StrataSync to commence sync. Assets without a Tech ID, or with an unknown Tech ID will be processed according to the settings in the Systems Settings -> Asset Management configuration panel If asset(s) is already in Holding Bin ( Small Icon on far right of menu ribbon), proceed to step 6, below. After the StrataSync account ID and Tech ID are added, connect to Ethernet, and sync asset with StrataSync. Do not add StrataSync enabled assets to StrataSync via manual keyboard entry Sync them to create the asset entry. 6. STEPS TO TAKE IF INSTRUMENTS ARE ALREADY IN HOLDING BIN In Holding Bin ( Icon on far right of menu ribbon) select assets to be assigned Click Action button and select Reassign Select the Organization, that contains the desired users and then select the user to assign the asset(s) to (assets can be reassigned to other users in later steps, if desired) Click REASSIGN at bottom of page Asset(s) will move to selected person and organization, To reassign assets assigned above, see step 7, below. A user can have multiple assets assigned to them if desired

ASSIGNING or REASSIGNING ASSETS TO A PERSON Home View Asset List (in Asset Panel) Default view ( or other created custom view ) Select asset to assign by clicking, or selecting check box and right clicking, choosing Reassign or by pressing Action button, then reassign, Select desired organization, and then select person to assign assets to (assets will be reassigned to individuals in later steps, if desired) Click REASSIGN at bottom of page

4 4 Frequently Asked Questions How do I reset a user s password? Select the user from the People View. Right-click and select Reset Password You will have a choice of sending the new temporary password to the user, or having it displayed to you to pass on to the user. The password will need to be reset upon first login. You must be an Administrator, or have User Management permissions to perform this action. If your password is lost or forgotten, there is a link on the login page to have it reset. A temporary password will be sent to the address of your user account. Can a user recover their own password? Yes. On the login page, they should click the Forgot My Password? Link and enter their username. The system will send an link to reset their password via . Can I change a user s address? Yes. Double click on a user in the People View. The detail page will display. The Tech ID, user address and other user details will be displayed, and can be edited. Note that the username, and address are the same by default, but the address can be changed to a different address. Should I add my StrataSync enabled instruments manually via the menu? No. Any Stratasync enabled instrument should be added by syncing it to StrataSync via Ethernet, DOCSIS, or Wi-Fi as appropriate for the instrument. Enter your StrataSync account ID into the instrument (along with the assigned Tech ID, if known) and follow other configuration selections to configure the instrument for StrataSync.( Specifics vary by instrument type) Upon sync, instrument will be placed into inventory and assigned to a tech ID, if Tech ID matches a Tech ID in the user table. If Tech ID is not in user table, or is not entered, asset will be assigned as configured in System Settings -> Asset Management- > Auto-Move. If Auto-Move is not configured, asset with no, or unknown Tech ID will be placed in the holding bin for later reassignment. Do I need to get more licenses if I get more instruments? StrataSync CORE does not require individual asset management licenses. Any quantity, or type of instrument may be managed by your Stratasync CORE account. StrataSync PLUS functionality is limited to the maximum number of assets in the PLUS license,

5 5 How long is my Test Data available for my use in StrataSync? CORE accounts will allow TestData to be accessed for up to 35 days from data upload. You should export or download your test data prior to that period. If you require longer Test Data retention, you should upgrade to a StrataSync PLUS account. Please contact your Viavi Solutions sales contact for details. I have purchased software options for my instruments. How do I install them? From the ASSET menu, select Manage Asset Options. In the column Asset Type select your instrument type; and a list of software options available to you will appear. Select the desired option group, right click and choose Assign. Select the instruments to assign the option to by checking the assign checkbox, and follow the prompts to deploy to your chosen instruments. After deployment, an instrument sync and power cycle will be necessary for the option install to complete. When I try to delete a user, I get a message saying the user is a manager and can t be deleted. The person is not a manager, Why does this happen? This will happen if a user has been designated as the Manager of an Organization, regardless of what their actual role is. Find the organization that has the user as a manager, and replace the manager with a different user. You can then delete the original user.
