If you re in the Internet marketing world, more than likely you know what it s like to be overwhelmed by all the various money making methods and schemes out there. There s Facebook, ebay, Amazon, Clickbank, Youtube, Offline Marketing, SEO, ebooks, Videos, Reports, Seminars, and so much more that your head can explode from all the different options. If you re trying to make money it can be difficult to keep from jumping from one project to the next because each new thing holds so much promise and looks so good. What often ends up happening is that many people spend months or even years spinning their wheels in going absolutely nowhere in their business. When it s all said and done they ve spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars on products all teaching them how to make money, but they can t show that they made more than a few bucks on the Internet.

At its core, with list building you build a list of people interested in buying products and services. You then recommend products and services to this list of people, and when they buy, you make money. This sounds pretty simple, but it has a lot of moving parts, and it takes some skill in order to pull it off. List building is unique in its approach to making money. Most businesses create their product or service first and then go find the customers next. With list building, you take the opposite approach. First, you go find the customers, then you find or create the products and services that they will buy. By taking this reverse approach to marketing you ll find that it s much easier and much quicker to make money.

9 On the Internet, at its most basic level, in order to begin building a list you need what is called a funnel. A funnel is a simple Internet marketing set up that takes online traffic and converts it into actual people on a list that you can market to. Your funnel will consist of three things; a squeeze page, a free bribe offer, and follow-up marketing. 2. The Squeeze Page The squeeze page, also known as a lead capture page, is the primary webpage for your list building efforts. The squeeze page s only job is to convert traffic into people joining your list, and these people are called leads. A good squeeze page has a big bold benefit rich attention grabbing headline. Also it has a video or corresponding body copy that explains to the prospect what they are going to get for subscribing to the list. Finally it has a form where the user can input their contact details in order to join the list. Besides the direct response copywriting techniques needed to create a good headline and body copy or video you need to have a good free bribe offer in order to get a lot of people on your list.

10 3. The Free Bribe Offer Your free bribe offer is what is going to make people want to join your list. A free bribe is some type of media like a free report, a free audio recording, a free video, free software, free infographics, or any combination of those. This free bribe needs to be valuable otherwise people won t join your list. Also a good free bribe offer will make a powerful impression on your leads and make them more willing to purchase products and services you recommend. In order to get them the purchase these products and services you need to have 4. Follow-Up Marketing The follow up marketing is the actual s that you send out to the leads on your list. It doesn t matter if the rest of your funnel is bad because many people will be joining your list each and every day due to your awesome free bribe. The goal is to have a great free bribe and to make the rest of your funnel great too. So stick with me and I ll show you how to do just that!

12 3. Creating A Great Free Bribe The more enticing you make your free bribe offer the more people will join the list. A good free bribe offer provides great value to your leads. One of the easiest ways to provide value is to solve a problem that your prospects may be having. If your free bribe can provide immediate and apparent relief or a solution to the problem then your leads will love you for it and you ll be able to build a huge list. Let s go through a quick example. Let s say you re in the weight loss market, more specifically the nutrition side of weight loss. One of the biggest problems that many people new to losing weight have is their diet. More specifically, they don t know which foods they should be eating in which foods they should be avoiding. So you could create a free bribe report titled 10 Super Foods That Ignite Your Inner Fat Burning Machine or something like that. Inside the report you could detail 10 of the most nutritious types of food that boost metabolism. You would then put this report up for download behind a squeeze page or lead capture page, where people would have to give you their address and join your list in order to be able to download this report. You would then drive traffic to the squeeze page, and because your free bribe report solves a problem, the problem of which foods to eat on a diet, then people would join your list in order to download this report. You could then make money by recommending them weight loss products and services.

13 You would then put this report up for download behind a squeeze page or lead capture page, where people would have to give you their address and join your list in order to be able to download this report. You would then drive traffic to the squeeze page, and because your free bribe report solves a problem, the problem of which foods to eat on a diet, then people would join your list in order to download this report. You could then make money by recommending them weight loss products and services. 4. Free Bribe Types Free bribes don t just have to be reports either. You can put together a PowerPoint video or even a video recording you or another person. You can also provide an audio download in the form of an MP3 file. If it is applicable to your market, you can provide a free software tool or software program that would help them solve a specific problem. You can even give out a multimedia package, where you combine a report, a video, and an audio or any other combination. The more valuable you make your free bribe offer the better it will be for you in the long run. A good free bribe offer makes a huge impact on your leads. They should think themselves; If this guy is giving this great stuff away for free, I can t wait to see what s behind his paid products!

14 5. Solving Problems So how do you find problems that people are having in your marketplace so that you can solve them with a free bribe offer. Well, there are two simple ways to do this. The first way is to use a question and answer site like Yahoo Answers. Here you can find questions that people are asking about a wide variety of topics. So look up your niche market using the search feature and browse to the questions. If you see the same types of questions being asked over and over again, you can identify a common problem that people are having within the niche market. The next place to look is on Internet forums and message boards. The easiest way to do this is to go to Google, and search for [Your Niche Market] Forums. Once you get on a forum, you can scroll through and take note of any questions that you see being asked or any people venting their frustrations. After you ve found a great problem to solve, you can perform your research on Google to find a solution for the problem. All of them include the headline that he grabs the attention and focuses the prospect on the benefits that the free bribe offer has. They also include body copy or video that further explains what they can expect when downloading the free bribe. They include images of the free bribe or images related to the market. Finally they all include an opt-in form for the prospect to enter their contact details and join the list.

17 4. The Headline The headline is the first thing that your prospects are going to see once they land on the squeeze page. Your headline needs to be big, bold, and include the main benefit they re going to receive once they download your free bribe offer. If you re new to writing marketing copy it can seem like a daunting task you have to create your first headline. Thankfully there s a simple trick you can use. No matter what market you are in, there are proven headline templates that you can use to create your own headline. These headlines have worked in the past for different offers, and they can be adapted to work for your offer with a little creativity. Here are some resources to help you create your squeeze page headline: After you ve created the headline for your squeeze page next step is to create

18 5. The Body Copy or Video Underneath the headline you need to have either body copy or video that goes into more detail about what the prospect can expect when consuming your free bribe offer. You want to make this copy of the words you say in the video be benefit rich. The more benefits you can promise to them the more likely it is they will stop what they are doing and join your list. Body copy is the easiest to create since all you have to do is type, but if you prefer to make a video that is fine as well. The best types of videos to make are talking head style videos you record yourself speaking to the camera like you would be speaking to the person if they were directly across from you. If you aren t photogenic or you are camera shy you can always hire a friend or an actor to speak in the video for you. A simple formula to stick to for the body copy or video is to restate the main benefit that they re going to receive once they get their hands on free bribe offer. Then tell them a little bit about yourself and why you re qualified to offer them this information. Then take a few moments to go into further detail about the benefits that are inside of your free bribe using a bulleted list. Then at the very end of the body copy, invite them to opt into the form in order to access their free bribe.

19 6. Images You can make a simple squeeze page that includes only text with no images, but if you want, you can add images to spice up your page and make it more visually appealing. If you don t want an ecover, you can also include images that are related to your marketplace. If you re in real estate niche, you can put pictures of nice houses on your squeeze page. If you re in the weight loss niche put pictures of fit and healthy people on your squeeze page. 20 7. Opt-in Form The final element of a blockbuster squeeze page is to have an opt-in box. You will get the code for your opt-in box from your marketing provider, which we will go into more detail about later. However, at this point what you need to know is that your opt-in box needs to include at least the ability to capture s. Some people like to capture the first name and an . It has been shown that the more fields you ask a person to fill out the less likely it is that they will complete the form. So squeeze pages that only ask for an will convert at a slightly higher rate than squeeze pages that ask for name and . The trade-off is that if you don t have the person s first name, you won t be able to personalize any of your follow-up marketing. If it doesn t matter to you much, then you should definitely only ask for an on your squeeze page. If you want to be able to make your s have a little bit of a personal touch then you want to ask for name and . There has also been some debate as to which button text works the best for your opt-in form. Many marketers simply use the word Submit on their opt-in forms and it works just fine. 21 8. Creating Your Squeeze Page After you ve made your bribe you need to create a squeeze page website to put it on. In order to do this, you need two things, a domain name and website hosting. Your domain is going to be the actual address of your website. As an example, a good domain name will include the words guide or free or help or something like that. If you re in the dog training niche a good example domain name would be freedogtraininghelp.com. You need to be creative, but don t spend too much time trying to come up with your domain names. I also suggest that you register your domain names with Namecheap. They are hands down the best registrar and they even give you free privacy protection with your orders. 22 After you get your domain name, you need to secure website hosting for it. The best company to use is Hostgator. They have extremely low prices and a 99% uptime guarantee, and I highly recommend them. After you ve secured your hosting you need to add your Namecheap domain to your Hostgator account. 23 SETTING UP A GREAT FOL- LOW UP SERIES PART 4 Delivery Autoresponder What Kind Of Do You Send? Content s Part 4. Setting Up A Great Follow Up Series After you have created your free bribe offer and you ve got your squeeze page online the next step is to create a great follow-up series. This follow-up marketing series is going to be responsible for generating the sales of whatever product or service you re promoting. 5. Delivery In order for your list building efforts to flow smoothly you are going to need some way of managing your list and ing them. You could download and install some third-party software to do this for you, although most software solutions are expensive and they have low deliverability rates. The easiest solution is to use an marketing service provider to handle your list and to send s. The best one on the market is Aweber.

This means your s have a better chance of ending up in your lead s inbox where they will get read. This form will ensure that anyone who joins your list will automatically be added to your lead database so that you can them. The next important feature of Aweber is the autoresponder. With this you ll be able to create s and schedule them to go out at a specific time interval when someone joins your list. This way everybody who joins your list can see the same marketing series that promotes the products and services you re trying to sell. All this happens automatically on autopilot, so once you set it up, the only thing you need to do is worry about driving traffic to your squeeze page.

25 6. Autoresponder Length One question most people face when first starting to build a list is how long should they make their autoresponder. The industry standard seems to be seven days long. However, is common for auto responders to be 14 days in length, or even 30 or more days in length. It all depends on what it is you re trying to sell to your list. If you re an affiliate for a product or service and its price is on the lower end of the spectrum than you won t need that long of an autoresponder to sell it. At a lower price point people s buying resistance will be pretty low, so as long as the product is good and it has decent marketing copy you can make sales with a seven-day autoresponder. The length of the autoresponder is really dependent on the price of the products or services are trying to sell to your list. Low-priced items need very little extra effort to sell so you can use a shorter autoresponder. Higher priced items require a little more selling so you need to use a longer autoresponder.

26 On the other hand if you re trying to sell a product that has a higher price than you going to have to do more to lower the prospect by resistance. This means you are going to need a longer autoresponder to warm the prospect up to the product. So you might want to use an autoresponder that is 14 days long or even 30+ days long. You can also use an autoresponder to sell more than one product or service. If you can find a set of products that complement each other you can take the first seven days of an autoresponder sell product A, and then take the next seven days of the autoresponder to sell product B, and so on and so forth. 7. What Kind of Do You Send? The next obvious question is what kinds of s are you supposed to be writing for your autoresponder? Well, there are two main types of s. First you have your content , and next there is the promotional . Content s are filled with high-quality information that is valuable. Promotional s do all of the selling for your products and services. You want to maintain a ratio of 70% content to 30% promotional or even 80% content to 20% promotional s. This ratio ensures that you constantly deliver value to your leads which increases their trust in you. With this increased trust they ll be more likely to purchase from you when you make a product or service recommendation in your promotional .

27 8. Content s Content s are there to provide additional value to your leads after they have consumed your free bribe offer. So once you have solved a specific problem within your free bribe offer you can continue to build on that by helping your leads solve additional problems or give them more information related to the niche market. Let s say you were in the dog training niche and your free bribe offer was a report on simple dog training exercises on what they could do to make their dog more obedient. After this you can start sending them content s that include more dog training exercises to help them train their dogs. You can also send out content s that had information related to dog training. Since you know your leads have dogs, a great content would be a product review of the top three dog foods or something like that. You are only limited by your creativity when it comes to creating these content s. Content s can be articles, lists, guides, links to other resources, links to videos, and links to blog posts, or anything else that would add value to your lead s life in relation to your niche market.

28 9. Promotional s Promotional s are responsible getting your leads excited about purchasing one of your recommended products or services. You want your prospect to eagerly open a promotional , read it, and immediately take action by clicking on the link inside of the . Your main goal is not to sell the prospect completely on buying the product or service, instead you want to let the products or services sales page handle that. You want to get them excited about going to check out the product or service to see what it s all about. You do this by pre-selling the product or service using traditional direct response marketing copywriting. That may seem complicated, but it s really not. The main thing you need to remember is the word benefits. You need to stress the benefits that the person is going to receive once they purchased this product or service that you re talking about.

Instead it gets straight to the point and invites them to click on the link to check out the offer. That s how you want your promotional s to be. So go ahead and create your autoresponder series. Take a few hours to really put together some high-quality valuable content-based s that will actually help your leads. Remember, they are just s in your database or numbers on your computer, they are real people with real problems, and if you can help them they will gladly give you their money.

Driving Traffic To Your Squeeze Page After you ve got your list building funnel set up complete with a dynamite free bribe offer, blockbuster squeeze page, and a powerful follow-up series the next step is to begin driving actual traffic to your squeeze page. Once the traffic hits your squeeze page, your funnel will go to work and convert that traffic into leads for your list all on autopilot. 33 6. Articles On the Internet content is king, and one of the most powerful traffic generation strategies is to create articles and upload them to various high traffic websites. The traffic on these websites will read your articles, and if they are good, they will visit your website. Your articles need to be written to inform, but they also need to be optimized so that they appear in the search engines. So the first thing you need to do is find out which keywords people are searching for in your niche market. To do this you can use the free Google Keyword Planner. Once you get to the planner you can type in niche keywords and Google will generate other keywords related to it. You can see which keywords have the most searches and create articles based around those keywords. In order to optimize your article for the search engines you need to use the keyword in the title of the article and also once every 100 words or so. So if you have a 500 word article, the keyword needs to be in the article title and appear 5 times dispersed throughout the body of the article.

34 In order to get the most impact from your articles, you should upload them to sites that have good traffic on them and that rank well in the search engines. Here is a list of my favorite places to upload articles: You re going to want to upload a unique article to each individual site for the most impact. Also only try to target one keyword per article.

35 7. Videos Another powerful way to get traffic to your squeeze page is to create niche related videos and upload them on YouTube.com. YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world and gets hundreds of millions of visitors per day. Best of all, it s free to take advantage of this amazing traffic source. Your videos don t have to be anything special. A simple way to make good videos would be to create a PowerPoint presentation and then record yourself talking through it using software like Camtasia. As long as your information is good your videos will get lots of views which would translate into a lot of traffic coming over to your squeeze page. You can also do the talking head style videos, where you record yourself or another person talking through the content. These videos work well for some markets, but you need to be the type of person that doesn t mind appearing on camera in order for it to work.

36 8. Document Sharing Websites Document sharing websites were very similar to the article websites we talked about earlier. However, they require that you upload the content in a document format like a PDF or DOC file. Some document sharing websites even allow you to upload PowerPoint presentations too. The reasons these are great for driving people to your squeeze page is that they get lots of traffic in your documents can rank well in the search engines if they are optimized for search keywords. When creating a document that you re trying to optimize for the search engines follow the same rules that you would for creating an article. But the keyword in the title, and use it once every 100 words, and you ll be fine. 37 9. Forums Forums or message boards are online meeting places for people interested in a certain subject or niche market. Since all the people on the website are gathering there because of their shared interest in a certain subject, these forums can be a great source of targeted high-quality traffic. Because forums are online communities, in order to get traffic from them you need to join the community and participate in the discussion. You ll need to answer and ask questions. Participate in discussions, and post high-quality content. If you do these things, you ll establish a reputation on the forum and people will trust you. You can then promote your website using a signature, or a small link that appears below each of your posts.
