1 ST600 Overhead Book Scanner Kiosk Software Installation Guide The ST600 enhances the SV600 Fujitsu ScanSnap Scanner. This is a small but powerful scanner. Its included software is good for individual personal desktop users who have a strong computer skill level and have taken time to learn how to configure and use its software. The ST600 Kiosk Hardware and Software transforms the SV600 into a system that can be used in a walk-up user environment. It makes it easier to control how the system is used, protect it, create a stable and secure platform, and use powerful features. You can perform with a couple of screen touches what might take hours to learn how to do in the back office, without having to ever read a manual. Step ONE: Install the ScanSnap SV600 Software Install the ScanSnap Software on the PC you will be using. You can use the Disc included or go online for a free software download from Fujitsu. This is the link where you can select the right version for your Operating System: sv600w-setup.html There are several programs and features that come with the scanner, we will refer you to the documents and online support from Fujitsu for that information. When you have the scanner plugged in, turned on, and working, you will see a ScanSnap button in the tool bar or hidden icons within the tool bar. When installed but not ready, there will be a circle line through the icon when the scanner is not ready to use. There will be no circle line when it is ready to use it is ready to use, just click twice to open the system configuration screen.. When

2 Step TWO: Configure ScanSnap ST 600 Kiosk Software Installation Guide Double click the icon to enter the set up and be sure that Use Quick Menu is selected. Click on Scanning tab to set for automatically scanning when pages are turned. A. Turn on the Auto Page Turn Scan Feature: Enable Configure settings for starting the next scan and select Page Turning detections mode from the pull down menu. Click OK to accept changes and move to the final page. Make sure Continue scanning after the last page is check marked, and click Apply. This will complete the SV600 setup. Page 2

3 B. Set OCR to convert all pages, not just the first page: Navigate to File Options tab and select Options. Click on Convert to Searchable PDF to allow modification rules for OCR from First page to All pages. After making the change, deselect Convert to Searchable PDF and Apply. Page 3

4 Step THREE: Install ST BookScan Kiosk Software Download the ST600 software from the website Support Tab. Begin the installation process. No license or serial number is required to download or install the software. However, the application will only run in the demonstration mode (you will not be allowed to save or print documents that have been scanned) until the software license is obtained. See License instructions after the installation for more information. Click next through the install screens and then Finish. Software License: How to Obtain and Install the Kiosk The ST600 Admin program automatically opens at the end of the installation process. You will need to revisit it after you have obtained the license from ST Imaging or your Authorized Reseller. The Admin program is in the same folder where the program was installed, such as C:\Program Files (x86)\st BookScan. You can launch it from there or create a shortcut. Click on the word License to begin the process to obtain and input the license. If you already have a license you can skip forward to the License Install process. Page 4

5 The ST BookScan Licensing page will open. Two items are required. The System Name that is supplied by the computer, and a Licensee Name you type in. Click on Generate to create a License Key Request. Encoded in this very long string is all the information about your system, serial number, etc., to allow us to provide a license specific to this system. The licenses are not interchangeable. If you change the PC you attach it to, you will need to obtain a new License. Use the Copy key to place this License Request Information on the PC Clipboard. There are various ways to send the License Request Key to ST Imaging so that ST can issue a license. The easiest way is to paste it into a note you attach, or the body of an addressed to support@stimaging.com. You will receive in return an with the License you requested. Just Copy Paste in the name you gave the Licensee above, and then copy and paste the long ST BookScan License Key into the Admin License Screen where shown. When correct you will see a confirmation of a successful license implementation. Page 5

6 Step FOUR ST BookScan Kiosk Software Admin: Many customers have different requirements and policies on image distribution. The Kiosk software is very powerful and easy to use to adhere customers to using only approved distribution choices, and making it very easy to select those you want to provide. Simply open the BookScan Administration App from a shortcut you create, or from inside of the Program folder. The default path for that folder is: C:\Program Files (x86)\st BookScan. Check Mark the distribution choices you want to allow customers to use. If not marked, they will not appear on the user selection menus within the Kiosk software. Notice that if you want to provide a folder on the desktop for images to be sent to, click on desktop access and use the default name, or your own name for the folder that will appear on the desktop. Odyssey access is simply a folder where you can place images that can later be accessed from the Odyssey screen through use of the Import Document icon. You have the option of also using an function that will send the documents in a background send, allowing items to be sent to a user Inbox without using your staff program or requiring access to Internet provider applications. Simply create a Google Gmail account user name and password for your organization. Users will not see this address or password. This being enabled will send an with the document attached without needing to use your own provider or leaving the kiosk software to send it.
