1 Laurence K. 02/02/08 03:07 PM To Charen L Ching/Gov/StateHiUS@StateHiUS cc Jan K.Hasegawa/DOH@DOHEXCH bcc Subject Wahiawa NB26 Qs & comments History: This message has been replied to. Charen: The meeting raised these issues. 1. Galbreath Lands. (DLNR?) The board and Mrs. Hyer want these kept in agriculture. 2. Wahiawa Freshwater Park. (DLNR) The board and Mrs. Hyer want support for the recreational uses of the park, especially the water feature. Committees will be formed to support both the Park and Galbreath lands goals above. (They did not ask, but I will, does DLNR want to be on the committees? Observe? Designate a point of contact?) 3. Nimitz Hwy. (DOT-Hwys) There is a dead coconut tree on the Nimitz median near Maunakea street, and it should be removed. Mrs. Hyer. a. (My Q: Does Mrs. Hyer call DOT directly? I feel like a continual go-between.) 4. Mililani Library. (Gov/B&F?) Mrs. Bentley of Friends of Mililani Library asked that $1.5 M appropriated last year be released. The next meeting will be the 4 th Monday in Feb., Laurence K. Lau Deputy Director for Environmental Health State of Hawaii, Department of Health Ph. (808) , Fax (808) Laurence.Lau@doh.hawaii.gov

3 Subject Wed 02/06/08 West HI Advisory Council Meeting needs to be cancelled Hi Andy, As I mentioned in the voic I left on your cell phone, COS would like you to make the necessary arrangements to cancel the above meeting and have it held on another date. It is unfortunate, but I hope the community will understand. Your 02/06 meeting was going to be held in Kawaihae and Brennon etal have already done a HMP community presentation there so hopefully cancelling the meeting will not be an issue. As I stated, there will be a joint Senate (Transportation & Water/Land) Committee Hearing on Wednesday, February 5 at 2:30 pm re SB3227 (our Harbors Modernization Plan) and it is necessary for Brennon, Mike, and Sandy Pfund to be at the Hearing. I have notified Marsha Wienert, but I am asking you to ensure notification to Ed Underwood. Please advise. Thank you, Joy Joy Watari Deputy Chief of Staff Office of the Governor State of Hawaii

Chapter 164 of the Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) stipulates that any student who enters a public school in Hawaii must have a valid TB clearance card (referred to as "a certificate of TB examination") completed within 12 months of registering for school when they first enter a Hawaii school -- for both primary (e.g., kindergarten) and then again for post-secondary school (e.g., college). This TB clearance card is transferable if a student changes primary schools within Hawaii, but is not valid for post-secondary schools in Hawaii. Students entering post-secondary schools in Hawaii for the first time should obtain a new TB clearance card, which can be transferred to other post-secondary schools without a requirement to get a new clearance card.
