BECOMING COMPLIANT. Below are the steps to follow in order to complete and obtain your ACE certification and become compliant.

1 BECOMING COMPLIANT Welcome to the 2018 SMYSA spring season! Thank you for taking the time to volunteer with our youth. Your time given, hard work, and effort don t go unnoticed. We have good news to share this year! You will no longer have to use an outside source for your Child Abuse Protection Training. Starting this year in order to obtain your ACE coaching certification, the USA Softball association has incorporated in the training that each volunteer must complete the USOC s SafeSport courses. The SafeSport courses contains three trainings: Sexual Misconduct Awareness Training, Mandatory Reporting, and Emotional and Physical Misconduct. The courses will take about 100 minutes to complete. Please allow yourself time to complete these trainings, as you will then complete an ACE training course as well, which takes about 60 minutes to complete. Below are the steps to follow in order to complete and obtain your ACE certification and become compliant. Go to the web address: Click on the YOUTH tab and select ACE Coaching Program & Background Checks 1

2 You will then be redirected to a new page. Scroll down towards the bottom of the page, and under the heading LINKS click on Register USA You will now need to log in to your USA Softball account

3 Scroll down the page to the Background Check tab. Select Purchase. You are then given two options. Select: ACE w/background On the next screen you will need to fill out all the information asked. There is a small fee of $20 for the ACE background and trainings. Once you have submitted your form and payment, the background check can take a little as 24 hours to clear or as long as seven days. You must go back every day to check your Background Check status, as you will NOT receive notification when it clears. When your Background Check clears, you will then select the ACE education tab.

4 You are now eligible to take the new SafeSport lessons. You can not take the ACE exam until the three lessons are complete. Click on: Click Here to Start Now Directions for SafeSport: 1. From the Safe Sport Home page select the Sign In button located on the top right corner of the page. 2. From the Sign In page select the Register Button 3. Enter your information and then click the green Next button. 4. Enter the requested information for your profile.

5 5. Use the Add Membership feature to link your Safe Sport account to your Register USA Information. 6. Use the Select an Organization drop down menu to Find and Save USA Softball to your memberships. 7. Once you have selected & saved USA Softball as your Organization you will then be prompted to add your USA Softball Member ID Number 8. You can locate your Member ID number on your Register USA Homeplate page or you can locate your Member ID number from the ACE education tab. 9. Once you have entered your USA Softball Member ID Number select the Green Continue button

6 10. Review your Information and Select the box certifying you are the person indicated above and then select the green Save button 11. You will then be prompted to review your profile information. Once reviewed select the green Save button 12. You will then be directed back to the sign in page with a banner stating: Account successfully created. Please check your to confirm your account and sign in. **If you attempt to sign in before checking your to confirm an, you will receive an error message. 13. Click on the Confirm Address hyperlink to confirm and sign into your SafeSport account 14. The Confirm Address hyperlink will direct you back to the SafeSport Sign In Page 15. Enter in your and password then select the Orange Sign In button You have now successfully created and accessed your SafeSport account Once signed in complete the three lessons required. When you have completed all three lessons you will be directed back to the Register USA. Your lessons will show up as green, and you will then have the option to Enter or Resume the ACE Exam. Click on the link, and complete the exam.

7 Once you have completed the exam your ACE status will show as Complete Your ACE Certification badge will arrive in the mail within 7 to 10 business days. Take a picture of your badge and the picture right away to the SMYSA compliance officer as your badge now counts for both your Child Abuse Protection Training and your ACE certification. badge pictures to: smysacompliance@gmail.com THANK YOU!
