1 HELPFUL TEST TAKING AND PREPARATION STRATEGIES INCLUDED HERE ARE TESTING TIPS AND GUIDES TO HELP STUDENTS SUCCEED IN THEIR CERTIFICATION GOALS. Students should log in to their Test Candidate account at to verify their account username, name, and (and to ensure they remember their password). Click on the Exam Tutorials button on the lower right side of the Test Candidate home page for Microsoft Office Specialist exam tutorials. SAVE YOUR WORK Remind Test Candidates to save their work as they test. If the test is interrupted, it can only be recovered from the last save point. If your computer crashes the exam can only be restarted from the most recent save point. MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST 03 The Reset button in Microsoft Office Specialist 03 exams will reset the exam to the beginning, but will not reset the countdown timer. Use the Undo button in the Ribbon to undo recent actions.

2 PREPARATIONS ON EXAM DAY It is considered Best Practice is to remove or thaw restorative ( Deep Freeze ) software on testing computers (or profiles). Close all programs and applications on the testing machine. If a testing computer freezes during the exam, a common issue is that an update request (everything else the same after this). It is considered Best Practice for those with Windows 7 to have automatic updates set to manual during exams, or in Windows 0 schedule updates outside of school hours. Have the Test Candidate log in on the same computer. Certiport s exam server will resume the exam where the student last saved. Test Candidates have seven days to complete an exam. Students will log in with their Certiport Test Candidate username and password.

3 Click on Study Practice Certify. Click on Certify. Click green program (e.g. Microsoft Office Specialist ) menu tile. If launching a Microsoft Office Specialist exam, click the green menu tile that corresponds with your Office Suite (e.g. 03 or 06). 4 PAYMENT METHOD: Console 8 testing engine s Payment Method will default to exam Inventory/ Site Licenses, if you have this payment method assigned to your Certiport Management Portal. Inventory/Exam Licenses (default form of payment) - Exam count will automatically decrement. Voucher - Test Candidate should click on edit icon (pencil) to input exam voucher number. EXAM GROUP (OPTIONAL): Create optional Exam Groups to group Test Candidate exam results separately from other institution exam results. Exam Groups must be created in your institution s Certiport Management portal before administering exams. EXAM REQUIREMENTS: Verify Mailing Address. Read and Accept NDA. Register for Exam Program (only if Test Candidate didn t complete this step with Test Candidate registration). Add a Test Candidate s exam to a previously created Exam Group by clicking on the edit icon (pencil) and entering the Exam Group information.

5 MICROSOFT EXAM REGISTRATION TEST CANDIDATES MUST COMPETE MICROSOFT PROGRAM REGISTRATION ONCE BEFORE INITIAL MICROSOFT CERTIFICATION EXAM ATTEMPT If Test Candidate has not yet completed the Microsoft Program registration, Test Candidates will be prompted to register before the exam launches. Required fields may pre-populate. If they don t, click the Use my Certiport profile data button. Scroll to bottom right side of form and click Submit button.

6 PROCTOR AUTHORIZATION Once you have verified all Test Candidate and exam information, click the Proctor Authorization check box, enter your Certiport username and password. Click the right arrow at the bottom of the page. Exam Instructions will be show before exam and countdown timer begin.
