3 Welcome to the fetchtv remote app The fetchtv remote app lets you access fetchtv on a mobile device to: Watch trailers and browse the on demand movies and shows available on fetchtv. Find out what s on TV now, select your region and browse your local TV guide. Connect your fetchtv set top box to schedule recordings from the TV Guide, manage them in My Stuff, and more. Control your fetchtv set top box through the app using your mobile device like a remote control. 3

4 Before you start Before installing the fetchtv remote app, check that your mobile device is supported and you are aware of the network and connection requirements. 5 Installing the fetchtv remote app Download and install the fetchtv remote app from your supported mobile device s app store. Launch the fetchtv remote app 1 to After installing the fetchtv app, select the fetchtv Remote icon on the desktop launch. 2 The app loads. 7 Connect to your fetchtv set top box You can use the fetchtv remote app to browse the TV Guide or see which Movies and TV Shows are available on the service, even if you are not connected to your set top box. Connect your set top box to your mobile device to use the fetchtv remote app to schedule recordings from the TV Guide and manage them in My Stuff. If your mobile device is on the same network as your connected set top box (see Page 4), you can also drive your set top box through the app using your mobile device like a remote control. You only need to connect once, but if you manually disconnect your mobile device from the set top box, or uninstall and reinstall the fetchtv app, you must reconnect again to use all features of the app. Connection Required When your set top box is not connected and you try to rent a movie, record a program from the TV guide, or manage recordings in My Stuff, you will get a message similar to the one below. 8 To connect your mobile device and set top box 1 Launch fetchtv on the TV connected to your set top box. Press MENU on your remote control to bring up the main menu. 2 Go to Manage > Settings > Mobile Devices and press 3 Enter your 4 digit Parental PIN. 4 Select Connect and press. Take note of the connection code shown on screen. The code will expire in 2 minutes. 5 Launch the fetchtv remote app on your mobile device. Go to Settings > Set-Top-Box > Connection. 6 Type in the 6 digit connection code shown on the Mobile Devices screen. 7 Finally, read and accept the license agreement. Direct Connection Required If your mobile device is on a different network to the fetchtv set top box, you may get a message similar to the one below: Direct connection required Direct connection required To enable this feature please connect this device to the same network as your set-top-box OK Figure 6: Direct connection required pop-up Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same network as your fetchtv set top box. 11 Movies Select Movies from the menu to view the on demand movies available on fetchtv. The Movie Services available to you will depend on which fetchtv service you have. Home Go back to the Home () screen. Search Movies Movie Rentals Latest and catalogue titles Movie Box Movies included in your subscription All Movies by Genre Action, Adventure, Kids... Providers Browse titles by Studio Search Search for a movie or TV show (see Page 26). Movie Rentals Browse latest and catalogue titles available for rent. Movie Box Browse 30 movies included in your fetchtv subscription (may not apply for your service). All Movies By Genre Browse movies by genre. All Movies By Provider Browse movies by provider. 12 View movie info Select a movie to get the cast and crew info, Rotten Tomatoes rating, watch the trailer (if available), and more. Go back to Movies catalogue. The Adjustment Bureau Watch Trailer Play movie trailer on mobile device. You can pause, rewind, and fast forward through the trailer, and switch between full or wide screen mode. Tap the screen and select Done to exit the trailer. $5.95 Rent movie to play back on set top box (the rental price depends on the movie you select). 13 Rent a movie Once you ve connected to your fetchtv set top box (see Page 7) you can rent movies through the fetchtv remote app and play them back on your set top box. 1 the View the movie you want to rent and select rental option (e.g. $3.95). 3 When your purchase is approved, select OK. 2 Enter your Parental PIN. After the movie starts you can pause and resume it by selecting the Pause/Play on TV option on the movie info screen. 13

15 Watch on TV See what s on fetchtv now. Select TV from the menu, then select Watch on TV. You can use the fetchtv remote app like a remote control to select and switch channels on your fetchtv box. Go back to the TV screen. TV Guide See what s on fetchtv for the next 7 days. Select TV from the menu, then select TV Guide. Go back to the channel listing. TV channel Select the channel to play it now on your connected fetchtv set top box. < Today > Program See what s on TV up to 7 days ahead. Select the arrows to move across day by day. Select Today to bring up a list of days for which you can see the schedule. 16 View program info Select a program from the TV Guide to read the synopsis, record, or set reminder. If you ve connected your set top box you can also watch it on TV now. f, SMS Twitter feed, or by or text message. Go back to the TV Guide. Record Record program (see Page 16). 17 Set up Recordings and Series Tag recordings 1 and To record current and future programs via the TV Guide program you want to record. Growing Pains: Room... 2 Select the Record option. To record all episodes in the series (if available), set Series Tag to ON. Note: If you turn on Series Tag, fetchtv will record all episodes automatically, so, the Record option can be set to OFF. 18 Recording details Cancel Cancel changes made to the recording details. Save Save changes made to the recording details. Record Single Episode Set Record to ON to record program. 1/2/5 Episodes only keeps the selected number of episodes on the set top box (1, 2, or 5). All (Managed) records all episodes and automatically deletes older recordings when space is needed on the set top box for new recordings. All (Protected) records all episodes and protects the recordings from being deleted automatically. Recordings start/end time the start and end of your recorded programs, select the time increment you d like to add, e.g. + 5 min. The recording start and end times will change based on your selection. Record all episodes Set Series Tag to ON to record all episodes of the program (if available). Recording start/end time all Lets you add extra time (described above) to the start and end of all recordings in the series. Storage Setting Select an option to store series tag recordings on your fetchtv set top box. Figure 18: Record 18

19 Set Reminders You can set a reminder to alert you when your favourite programs are about to start. The default reminder time is 15 minutes and can be changed in the Settings menu (see Page 27). 1 a In the TV Guide, select the program you want reminder for. 3 Select OK to set the reminder. Remember, you can change the reminder time from the Settings menu (see Page 26). 2 You Select the Reminder Set option. 20 TV Shows Select TV Shows from the TV menu to view the on demand shows available on fetchtv. Figure 21: TV Shows Gekko TV Shows Entertains and educates kids ABC for Kids Known and loved shows from ABC for Kids Profiles Real people and their real lives Chronicles History, science and popular culture Warner TV Series, comedies and dramas Frontiers Compelling science fiction To watch a show on your set top box Once you ve connected to your fetchtv set top box (see Page 7) you can select TV shows through the fetchtv remote app and play them on your set top box. 1 From the TV Shows menu, select a library to see all shows or TV series in the library. 2 Select a show and scroll down to the Episodes list to select an episode you d like to watch. 3 To watch the episode on your fetchtv box now, select the Play on TV option. 4 immediately. If you have already downloaded the show, it will start playing Nip / Tuck - Series 2 Season 2, Episode 8: Agatha Ripp is loading 5 If you have not downloaded the show before, it will start downloading to your set top box and display a pop-up. 21 My Stuff Once you ve connected to your fetchtv set top box (see Page 7), select My Stuff from the menu to view and manage your recordings, movie rentals, and more. Home Go back to the Home () screen. Search My Stuff Search Search for a recording. Recorded TV View all recordings made from the TV Guide. Recorded TV Scheduled Series Tags My Rentals 35 items 12 items 6 items 4 items Scheduled All programs you have set to record will appear in the Scheduled listing. Series Tags View and manage all series you have tagged to record. Messages 4 messages My Rentals See all your current movie rentals. 23 Scheduled Select My Stuff > Scheduled to display all programs you have set to record. Select a scheduled recording to change the details, such as the recording start and end time. Movie rentals are available to watch as many times as you want for 48 hours from when you Go back to My Stuff screen. 26 Search TV Guide, My Stuff, and more 1 Select the search box and type the title, or a word from the title, of the program you are looking for. 2 Select Search to perform the search. 3 If you are in Movies, only movies will be displayed in the search results. If you are in My Stuff, only recordings will be listed. Select a title from the search results to load the program info. 27 Settings Select Settings from the menu to connect to your fetchtv set top box and access the features of your fetchtv service on your mobile device. 6:15PM Settings Home Go back to the Home () screen. Set-Top Box Connection Version None 1.1 Connection Select to connect to your fetchtv set top box (see Page 7). Once connected, select again if you ever need to disconnect your set top box. Once connected, the region is set to the area assigned to your set top box.
