2 CITI-SENSE Development of sensor-based Citizens Observatory Community for improving quality of life in cities Citizens observatories communities that share technological solutions, information products and services and community participatory methods. Complementing established environmental data and information systems, improving local environmental decision making. Nine cities (Barcelona, Belgrade, Edinburgh, Haifa, Ljubljana, Oslo, Ostrava, Vienna, Vittoria) use sensors to gather data on outdoor urban spaces and indoor school environments.

18 INSPIRE CO Hackathon, Barcelona, Sept 26-27, 2016 Challenge 3 Data Models/Data Management Interoperability for observations and sensors: Arne J. Berre Based on use cases from the 4 new Citizens Observatories, how can data from a variety of data sources be made interoperable and integrated. Can we have a common data model or ontology across different areas? How to represent information for answering concrete environmental issues, such as maintaining biodiversity, health, improve waste re-use, prevent flooding, reduce noise, ensure dark nights, etc? Problem example suggested: Mobile Air Quality sensor (LEO unit from Ateknea, Barcelona from CITI-SENSE project) (Shown in the first plenary session) currently stored first in a relational database (raw form) and then in a WFS according to an ISO/OGC O&M model subset, also available as CSV/JSON data. Consider all data types potentially involved in observations including multi media types (pictures, video, audio etc.) Discussion/Hack: Can the sensor/observation data be stored in an interoperable way through the data models and observations of the various project approaches? SensLog from SDI4Apps, Can it be managed and presented through the CobWeb/GeoCat services? How would this sensor data be represented by the model/db of WeSenseIt using a modern Big Data Architecture rather than a standard-based OGC/INSPIRE/GEOSS architecture what are advantages/disadvantages of the alternatives? Can the SWE4CitizenScience/Ontology/OGC (CobWeb) proposal be used?
19 INSPIRE'2016 Hackathon Interoperability result September 27, Barcelona CITI-SENSE collected Air Quality sensor data (test data) mapped to SDI4Apps SensLog Data model and queried with visualization of results
