3 What is the Animated Music Video Contest? The Animated Music Video Contest is a concept from Anime Fun TV that incorporates not just Anime, but all types of animation fandoms! From old-school cartoons, current animations, animated movies, machinima videos, to self-created animations that you may have a talent for. There is no limit to what types of animation or animated genres you may use! Animated Music Videos is very similar to Anime Music Video s, essentially either a single person or a group effort edit source footage in sync to a specific song or soundtrack. We have 4 different Main Categories, Fast Action, Epic Drama, Comedy/Song s, & Comedy/Freestyle and several Sub- Categories for you to choose from. Contest Deadline All contest submissions are due by Friday, December 11, 12:00p.m. (Noon) U.S. Central Time Main Categories & Sub-Categories They're 4 Main Categories with 4 Sub-Categories for each Main Category. The 4 Main Categories are Fast Action 2. Epic Drama 3. Comedy/Song 4. Comedy/Freestyle The Sub-Categories for each Main Category are... Generic Video Edited Video Created Video Machinima Pg. 3
4 Main Category Descriptions Fast Action Main & Sub-Category Descriptions Videos containing moderate, to fast music, mixed with moving action scenes. This category may also contain dance/trance videos to movie trailer parodies if the intent is for action as opposed to comedic. This category may also include Horror, Serious, and Sentimental videos. Comedy Song s Videos with the intent of humor and comedy that is in a form of a song. Comedy Freestyle As the name implies, Freestyle is for any videos with the intent of comedy, humor, jokes, skits, or just plain randomness; you may as source as many audio clips from various movies, television, or pop-culture you wish. This category may contain some video trailer parodies only if intent is comedic. Sub-Category Descriptions Generic Video - Single-Editor & Multi-Editor Video that contains original animation source footage with little, to no use of user-created effects or animations. 80/20 Edited Video - Single-Editor & Multi-Editor Video that contains an equal amount of animation source footage alongside the use of usercreated effects or animations. 50/50 User-Created Video - Single-Editor & Multi-Editor Video that contains some, to very little original animation source footage, and is as least 80% use of user-created effects or animations. 20/80 Machinima - Single-Editor & Multi-Editor Video that contains scripted real-time gaming engine that you created via cinematic production software such as Source Film Maker or other various software. > *PRE-GENERATED CG CUT-SCENES from videos games are NOT ALLOWED!* < Pg. 4
5 Notes & Suggestions for Main & Sub-Cat Selections If we feel if your video submission doesn't fit into the category you have selected, we will contact you about the possibility of a category change for your video. However, if you do not reply back in the specific amount of time we asked for you to reply, we will not change your video category. So please take careful consideration on what category your video will fit into. We have had many videos in the past that were excellent but were not in the proper category. A good way to know where you're video belongs, is to remember what was your original intention and goal of your video, that will help you determine what category your AMV will fit into. Remember, if you have any questions please me at AnimeFunTV@icloud.com Time Limits For ALL videos that are submitted, their is a 5 Minute Maximum Time Limit. If a song is more than 5 Minutes long it will be at our discretion if we should accept that video. Please us before submitting any video that is longer than 5 Minutes. Opening Titles & Ending Credits In a protective measure to ensure each video is rightfully created by you and is not stolen. We must Recommend that ALL videos have either a Opening Title Card or Ending Credits to give credit to the source s of the material you used and giving credit to yourself or group. These credits will NOT count towards your Time Limit. Example of a Title Card: (Name of Animation) (Name of Band/Artist) - (Name of Song) (Name of Editor/Group) Animaniacs Queen - Bicycle QueenOFtheDameD For those who use Multiple sources of animation and audio you may use Various Animations & Various Audio Example: Various Animations Various Audio QueenOFtheDameD Pg. 5
6 Video Selection Process, How it works. We do our best to select the best of the video submissions and show them in the given time scheduled to us. Sadly, not all videos will be able to make it into the time that is scheduled to us by the convention. We try to inform everyone of their video s status, however we may or may not be able to give you that information until days or hours until the day of the convention. Our video selection process is simple, we invite people from either the convention staff & AnimeFunTV staff to view ALL submitted videos, then they will score each video from 1 to 10, 1 being poor, 10 being best. Scoring is based on may factors such as, proper category selection, presentation, editing, timing, fun factor, & quality. None of the invited staff will know about any of the submitted videos up until the screening day for a fair non-bias scoring. Once all the scores have been tallied up, the top selections for each category will move on to be shown in the time scheduled for us at the convention. Awards (& Prizes, If Supplied) AFTV will announce awards either during, or after, the convention dates. Any announcements will be made at AnimeFunTV.com or at AnimeMusicVideos.com/Forum under AMV Contests. If any Prizes are supplied by the convention they will be given to People s Choice 1st Place winners in their respected category. Editors Choice Award The Editors Choice Award will be decided by selected by either convention staff & AnimeFunTV staff for each category before the convention. People s Choice Award The Peoples Choice Award will be decided at the convention and will be gauged by reactions of the attendees. Editors & Peoples Best AMV Overall Award Out of the all the Editors Choice awards given, the editors will choose out of all three categories which AMV is the Best Overall. While the Peoples Best AMV Overall Award will be decided at the day of the convention, based on the attendees live feedback with the AMV presentation. Pg. 6
