1 All test are done in business time. Our testing are not professional. Not like ZBRELLA using as professional test. All testing report followed after. 1 From ISP s test shows the connection has no any problem. 2 In the front test the speed is 44.0 Mbits/sec. Because the older laptop for test has lower performance it is normal. 3 Testing on the viewpoint server the speed is 92.0 Mbits/sec. Because the server has the higher performance. 4 Download speed from NJ office to AHB job site is 3.28Mb/Sec (30Mbits/sec). Because of the DSL cable connection s download bandwidth is 30Mbits/sec. 5 Upload speed from AHB job site to NJ office is 500KB/sec (5Mbits/sec). Because of the DSL cable connection s upload bandwidth is 5Mbits/sec. 6 At AHB job site the test speed is 18.96Mbits/sec, 3.16Mbits/sec at (like ZBRELLA s professional testing) 7 At AHB Job site some user s connection sometimes are via t1 (Verizon). This is the problem. Unless the DSL cable is break down all user s connection are the DSL cable. We think the network s bottleneck is not in NJ office. The ccahalmar server at NJ office can get burst bandwidth about 90 Mbits/sec. CCAIT just want to do the business and do not want to make trouble to the others. At AHB job site the first internet connection was the DSL cable. The speed was good. But after T1 had been done ZBRELLA setup the T1 as the primarily connection and setup the DSL cable as backup connection. The speed was down. We modified the configuration for optimize. We setup 30% T1 and 70% DSL cable. The speed was up. Everything was ok. But after a few months the client had a problem. The could not be sent out by outlook but could be sent out in website. We checked the setting and did not find the wrong setting. We thought the problem was with ISP. So we contacted the ISP. But we had no contract info the ISP did nothing with us. We asked ZBRELLA about it. They did not give it to us. (Today we still have no the contract info.) So the problem could not be solved. Peter arranged a meeting at AHB job site. Alfredo and us were together to solve the problem. The problem was caused by blocking 25 Port. Alfredo made a phone call to cablevision. The problem was solved. Why at first cablevision did not block any port and then blocked the 25 Port? Did someone let them make this change? We had no idea. After the problem was solved Alfredo setup the DSL cable as the primarily connection and the T1 as the backup connection. The speed was good. One month ago we found the setting was changed. And we can not access the AHB job Site firewall. ZBRELLA have the administrator on firewall. They blocked our access and changed the firewall setting. That s why some user have the problem with mail.ccahalmar.com and why some user have the big problem with the speed. Please note that sites such as Speakeasy.net and the majority of online speed test are geared towards residentual lines and also have FAQ's that mention their lack of validity in testing circuits over 20Mbs, Cogent does not view those sites as acceptable methods for testing this type of circuit as it amount to comparing apples and oranges. Cogent is also not able to explain results of any online speed test as we have no knowledge of the components of how those test are run. If you would like a more accurate test to prove out bandwidth on your circuit, Cogent uses a freeware called IPERF ( We also have a dedicated server that customer can test to when they call into our customer support line. The test can also be run between any two layer 3 devices. If you like, please feel free to give us a call to discuss the testing and the capabilities of your circuit.
