1 Greetings West Ada Comp Sci TAC & Friends, Thank you for taking time from your busy schedules to attend our Technical Advisors Meeting (TAC) last Wed: Two teachers, five industry reps. Your inputs directly shape our program! Brief summary: 11th grade Java class: Add Android SDK, time frame: spring semester. Consider piloting concurrency, web sockets this spring, if enough time after Android. 12th Adv Web: Investigate Spring, Spring Boot, GraphQL - spring semester. Pilot AWS - spring semester. Andy H offered to help us get started on AWS. 12th Adv Comp Sci: Increase emphasis on network routing, decrease some switching (like VLAN) to make room. Time frame is right now, our current unit. 11th Database (LAMP): Investigate Visual Studio Code for PHP dev - time frame: January. 9th ECS: Drop Scratch, replace it with microbits, Networking, or TBD; time frame: after our next Comp Sci teachers meeting in Dec or Jan. Current classroom learning activities -- we are firing on all cylinders, pedal to the metal! 12th Grade Adv Comp Sci Three periods into Networking. Today kids had to subnet their 4-student rows, first calculating all nets (with a time goal of 5 min for this calc) -- here is row 1:

As a class, I showed the kids line-by-line how to create this base project where a treasure item is randomly hidden behind one of these doors:

8 Then completely on their own the kids have to expand the playing field using a 2D array, add a counter, and add a trap that slams all the doors shut, restarts the game, but does not reset the counter.
