9 2 Introduction SimpleProg is specially designed for iphone, ipod touch and ipad to maintain personal/business information as Lists in the form of table. This user guide gives you a quick introduction about how to use SimpleProg on ios devices. 9

10 3 SimpleProg SimpleProg is a super simple Personal and Business information manager to store any kind of text information in the form of Lists. You name the type of information you want to store; say Notes, To Do, Passwords, Appointments, Stocks or any other information and in no time you can have them in SimpleProg with few easy simple steps. If you are tired of maintaining different kind of information in different applications and looking for a one stop application that can handle all of your Personal/Business information then SimpleProg is a perfect simple companion tool for you. Reminders can be added to any Lists and get notified daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. SimpleProg allows you to export the List as CSV, Excel and PDF and also print them using Air Print. SimpleProg supports drawing Pie, Bar & Line charts based on the information stored in the List. You can export the charts as images and print them using Air Print. If you are having more than one apple device and want to have the information to be in sync across devices then SimpleProg does that using Apple icloud. 10

11 3.1 Features Store any kind of text information in the form of Lists. Create Lists from rich set of existing pre-defined Templates. Create your own Templates by defining columns for the List. 12 3.2 Pre-Defined Templates SimpleProg comes with set of pre-defined templates. You can create Lists using one of these Templates or use one of the Templates created by you. 14 1. In SimpleProg you can maintain information in List as tables. 2. The Lists are created by using pre-defined Templates or the Templates created by you. 3. The Lists are contained in Database/Profile. 4.2 What you can do? The following diagram explains you about what you can do with SimpleProg. 15 4.3 Toolbar The following table shows you the buttons that are used in toolbars of SimpleProg. 16 1. In the tiles screen, you can swipe left on the tiles to show edit and delete button. 2. Swiping right on the tiles will hide the edit and delete button. 3. Long pressing the tile will allow you to reorder the tiles. 4.5 General Tasks Adding an Item To add an Item you can do one of the following. 1. Touch the Add button in the top navigation bar. 16

17 2. Touch the Add button in the bottom toolbar. Editing an Item To edit an Item, highlight the item and you can do one of the following. 1. Touch the Edit button in the bottom toolbar. 2. Swipe left in the tile to display Edit button and touch the Edit button. 3. Where there is no child screen available, touching Arrow button in the tile will also lead to edit. Deleting an Item To delete an Item, highlight the item and you can do one of the following. 1. Touch the Delete button in the bottom toolbar. 2. Swipe left on the tile to display Delete button and touch the Delete button. Reorder an Item To reorder an item, you can do any one of the following. You can reorder an item by gestures as described in section Gestures. 1. Touch the Reorder button in the bottom toolbar to display a reordering screen. 17

18 Switch between Tiles and Table View SimpleProg can display items in Tiles and Table View. To switch between Tiles and Table View, you can do the following. 1. Touch the Expand / Collapse button in the bottom toolbar. Change the No. of Columns in Tiles View SimpleProg can display 1 to 4 columns in Tiles View. You can change the No. of Columns to be displayed by doing the following. 1. Touch the Columns button in the bottom toolbar. It will display the following popup menu from which you can select one of the option. Navigate to Next Screen SimpleProg allows you to navigate to Next screen by doing the following. 1. Touch the Arrow button in the right side of the Tile in Tiles View. 2. Touch the Arrow button in the left side of the Row in Table View. Highlight an item To highlight an item, you can do the following. 18

19 1. In Tiles View, touch the Tile to highlight it. 2. In Table View, touch the Row to highlight it Select an Item To select an item you can do the following. 1. Touch the Arrow button in the right side of the Tile in Tiles View. 2. Touch the Arrow button in the left side of the Row in Table View. Searching To Search items, you can do the following. 1. Touch the Search button in the top bar to display the Search box if it is hidden. 2. Type the text in the Search Bar to filter the items. Export/Mail SimpleProg allows you to export items as CSV, Excel and PDF file. It also allows you to the same. You can activate the option by doing the following. 1. Touch the Options button in the bottom toolbar for possible options that will be displayed to you as follows. 19

21 5 Lists 5.1 What are Lists? Lists are made from pre-defined Templates available in SimpleProg or Templates defined by you. The List can be anything viz, Notes, To do, Stocks Portfolio, Reminders, Blood Pressure etc., You can define a Template of your choice and use the Template to create Lists. Refer to section Templates for more information on how to create and manage Templates. 5.2 How to get here? When you start SimpleProg the first welcoming screen is the Lists Screen with default lists created by SimpleProg using default templates. 21

24 Column Name Description Template Description Enter the Name of the List. Enter the Description of the List. Select the Template to be used for the List from pre-defined Templates. Protected Enable this if you want to protect the List with password. Editing a List Editing a List is similar to instructions given in section Editing an Item. 24

25 Edit List Screen Column Description Name Enter the new Name of the List Description Enter the new Description of the List Template Select the new Template for the List. The Template can be modified only when there are no entries made in the List. Protect/Unprotect Protect: Touch this button to protect the List with password. Unprotect: Touch this button to unprotect the List. Deleting a list Deleting a List is similar to the instructions given in section Deleting an Item. The List can be deleted only when there are no records in the List. 25

27 6 List Entries 6.1 What are List Entries? List Entries are the real information that you want to store in the Lists. For example, you can enter the Notes, Birthdays, To Do, and Reminders etc., here. 6.2 How to get here? 29 6.5 Managing List Entries Adding a List Entry Adding a new List Entry is similar to the instructions given in section Adding an Item. 30 Show/Hide Protected Fields If the column type is protected, the column value will not be readable and will be displayed as. To show/hide the protected field you can do the following. 1. Go to Add or Edit List Entry Screen as explained in section Managing List Entries. 2. Touch the Lock button to reveal the protected field. 3. Touch the Unlock button to hide the protected field. 30

31 Reminders When Reminder is enabled for a Column in a List, you will have the option to add Once, Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly reminder to that Column. The following Birthday sample entry screen shows the same. Sorting If you want to Sort the List by single column, you can do the following. 1. Touch the Expand/Collapse button in the bottom toolbar to switch to Table View if it is not in Table View. 2. Touch the Header of the Column that you want to sort. Touch again the Header of the Column to reverse the sorting. 31

32 If you want to sort by multiple columns refer to section Applying Sorts. Searching To search the List, refer to section Searching. If you want to change the columns you want to search, do the following. 1. Touch the Search Columns button in the Search Bar. 6.6 Applying Filter What are Filters? Filters are set of search conditions that you can apply on the List to filter the rows. 32

Managing Filters Adding a Filter Adding a new Filter is similar to the instruction given in section Adding an Item. Sorts are set of column orders that can be applied to sort the List. 35

Deleting a Sort Deleting a Sort is similar to the instruction given in section Deleting an Item. 6.8 List Entry Info List Entry information displays the current List Entry detail for viewing. How to get here? You can activate the List Entry Info Screen by touching the Info button bottom toolbar. at the List Entry Info Screen Toolbar 38

39 Button Home Options Description Go to Home screen. Export/Mail the entry as CSV, Excel and PDF. Export/Mail You can export/mail the List Entry as CSV, Excel and PDF file by doing the following. 1. Touch the Options button in the bottom toolbar and follow the information given in section Export/Mail. 6.9 Plotting Charts In SimpleProg, you can plot charts using the information entered in the lists. How to get here? You can activate the Chart Data Screen by touching Chart button bottom toolbar. in the 39

40 Chart Data Screen Column Type Description Select the Type of the Chart to be drawn. 40

41 Style Select the Style to be used for drawing the Chart. XAXIS Column Minimum Value Maximum Value Grouping Select the column that has to be used for x Axis. Enter the Starting value that has to be used for x Axis. Enter the Ending value that has to be used for y Axis. Select the x Axis Grouping that has to be used for Calculate y Axis values. Y AXIS Column Calculate Select the column that has to be used for y Axis Select how to calculate the y Axis value if the x Axis has got multiple y values. 41

42 Drawing Charts Once you have completed entering the chart data, touch the Plot Chart button to draw the chart. You can find sample charts drawn by SimpleProg below. 42

43 Line Chart Touch the chart area to display a vertical selection line which you can move horizontally to navigate the coordinates. 43

44 Bar Chart Touch any of the bars to select and it will display bar values at the top of the bar hiding all other bar values. 44

Options SimpleProg allows you to export and the List as CSV, Excel and PDF file. You can also import CSV file to Lists. To achieve, this you can do the following. 1. Touch the Options button in the bottom toolbar to get the following screen. 46

47 2. Export and Mail is explained in section Export/Mail. Import CSV File SimpleProg allows you to import CSV files to Lists. To know the structure of the CSV file for a List, Export the List to CSV file and use the file as a sample CSV file. Please note the date format for import should be yyyy-mm-dd HH:mm:ss ZZZ. Reset Reminders Selecting this option will reset and recalculate the reminders that you entered in the List. 47

48 7 Settings 7.1 How to get here? You can activate the Settings Screen by touching Settings button bottom toolbar. in the 7.2 Settings Screen Option Notification Description This will introduce you to a new screen with list of upcoming Notifications/Reminders. 48

This will introduce you to Databases screen where you can select/manage Databases/Profiles. This will introduce you to Templates screen where you can manage the templates used in the lists. This will add the default templates to the current lists. This will introduce you to Colors screen where you can manage colors. This will introduce you to File Browser screen where you can view/manage files in the Documents folder of SimpleProg. This will allow you to Backup the current data state to zip file. This will allow you to Restore the data to previous state from Zip file. This will allow you to Enable/Disable icloud Sync for the information stored. This will allow you the rebuild the local data store with icloud data store. This will reset and clear the icloud data. 49

50 File Browser icloud This will introduce you to new File Browser screen where you can view/manage files in icloud Documents folder of SimpleProg. The following section explains you about the individual options. 7.3 Notifications Touching this option will allow you to view the upcoming Notification/Reminders. This is the summary of reminders that you have created in the List. This option consolidates all Notifications/Reminders and display them in one list for you to review the same easily. Export/ the reminders as CSV, Excel and PDF file. Expand/Collapse Switch between Tiles and Table View. Sync Reminders When icloud is enabled, Reminders will not be in sync automatically across your devices. To get the reminders in sync, you can do the following. 1. Touch the Refresh button in the bottom toolbar to reset and recalculate the Reminders in the unprotected Lists. 2. Refer to section Reset Reminders in List Entries for resetting the Reminders in protected Lists. 51

52 3. Refer to Auto Sync Reminders in section Preferences to enable Automatic reset and recalculation of Reminders. Options You can export/mail the list as CSV, Excel and PDF file by touching the Options Button in the bottom toolbar. For more information refer the section Export/Mail. 7.4 Preferences With this option, you can change the general application wide settings like theme, status bar and enable debug option to opt for support. 53 Column Background Image Theme Bar Theme Tiles Theme ios7 Style Description Select a Background that can be applied to all screens. Select an Image tint color from color database that can be used in tiles and other places. Select a Bar tint color from color database that can used in top and bottom bars. Select a Background color from color database that can be used as Tiles Background color. When enabled, buttons will be displayed without borders. When disabled, button will be displayed with borders. Auto fit Font Auto Sync Reminders When enabled, the font size will be automatically adjusted to the size of the text displayed in the tiles. When you enable icloud, Reminders will not be synced automatically across devices. When enabled SimpleProg will automatically reset and recalculate the Reminders in the unprotected Lists on every start. Refer to section 53

54 Sync Reminders in Notifications for manually starting this Auto Sync Reminder process. Refer to section Reset Reminders in List Entries for resetting the Reminders in protected Lists. Device Language Status Bar Debug Defaults When enabled SimpleProg will use the language of the device. When disabled SimpleProg will use English as language. Show/Hide Status bar. When enabled SimpleProg will collect debug information while running and later you can send them to MakeProg for support in case if you have trouble using SimpleProg. Reset the settings to initial state. 7.5 Databases Refer to section Databases for more information. 7.6 Templates Refer to section Templates for more information. 7.7 Add Default Templates When this option is selected, SimpleProg defined default templates will be added to current lists automatically in the selected database. If Lists already 54

55 exist, any changes made in the default templates will be applied to the existing lists. 7.8 Colors Refer to section Colors for more information. 7.9 File Browser When you select this option you can browse/manage/view the files in SimpleProg Documents folder. To preview the file, touch the Arrow button in the tiles. File Browser Screen Toolbar 55

Columns No. of Columns to Display Backup With this option, you can back up the existing database as a zip file to SimpleProg Documents folder and can transfer to some other location using itunes or by ing Restore With this option, you can restore the database from previously backed up zip file. Please note that the backup file should be transferred to SimpleProg Documents folder prior to restoring. You can use any one of the following methods to transfer the file to SimpleProg Documents folder. 1. You can put the backup zip file in SimpleProg Documents folder using itunes. 56

57 2. If you have the backup zip file in the mail, long press the attachment and in the open with dialog select SimpleProg. This will save the Backup Zip file in the SimpleProg Documents folder Enable icloud SimpleProg can get the data sync across devices using icloud. When you touch this option, you will be prompted with a following dialog. Option Enable Description This will enable SimpleProg to store data in icloud. If you are enabling this for the first time, the data stored in the local database will be copied to icloud. If you are doing it for the second time in the same device or different device SimpleProg will start using the icloud data. Overwrite Cancel This will overwrite the icloud data with local data. Hence please use it with caution. Nothing happens. 57

58 7.13 Disable icloud With this option, you can disable icloud sync for the devices. When you select this option, you will be presented with a dialog. Option Disable Description This will disable SimpleProg from storing data in icloud but It will not delete the data from icloud. If you need to delete the SimpleProg data from icloud use icloud Settings in the ios Device. Overwrite Cancel This will disable SimpleProg from storing data in icloud and will update the local database from icloud Data. Nothing happens Clear icloud When you select this option, icloud data will be reset to initial state. Please use this option with caution. 58

59 7.15 Rebuild icloud When you select this option, the local database will be rebuilt with icloud data. If you have any issue in icloud sync, you can use this option to reseed the local database from icloud database File Browser icloud When you select this option, you can browse/manage/view files stored in SimpleProg icloud Documents folder. 61 8 Templates 8.1 What are Templates? Templates are table definition that will be used by Lists in the Main screen. Notes, To Do, Stock Portfolio and Birthdays etc., are the kinds of templates with their own set of Columns. For example, Birthday Template may have columns named Person Name and Birth Date. You can define your own Template and Template Columns in this screen. 8.2 How to get here? You can activate the Templates Screen by doing the following. 1. Touch the Settings button in the bottom toolbar of Main Entry screen. 2. Select the option Templates by touching the Arrow button in the tile. 61

Enter the Category of the Template. Enter No. of Columns to be displayed in Tiles View. Enter whether the Template has to be protected with the password. Select the Image of the Template that will be displayed in Tiles. Editing a Template Editing a Template is similar to the instructions given in section Editing an Item. 64

65 Deleting a Template Deleting a Template is similar to the instructions given in section Deleting an Item. The Template can be deleted only when there are no Lists using the template. 65

66 9 Template Columns 9.1 What are Template Columns? Template Columns define the structure of List in Columns. A Template can have multiple columns of different type (text, numeric, date etc.,). For example, Birthdays Template may have Person Name and Birth Date Template Columns. 9.2 How to get here? You can activate the Template Columns Screen by doing the following. 1. Touch the Settings button in the bottom toolbar of Main Entry screen. 2. Select the option Templates by touching the Arrow button in the tile. 3. In Templates Screen, Highlight the Template and touch the Arrow button in the tile. 9.3 Template Columns Screen 66

71 10 Databases 10.1 What are Databases? Databases are container of Lists. It is a kind of profile of a User. SimpleProg comes with a default Database/Profile called SimpleProg. You can create any number of Databases/Profile. When you create a Database, it will be created with empty Lists. You can add Default Templates to the database by choosing the option mentioned in Add Default Templates How to get here? You can activate the Databases Screen by doing the following. 1. Touch the Settings button in the bottom toolbar of Main Entry screen. 2. Select the option Databases by touching the Arrow button in the tile Databases Screen 71

74 11 Colors 11.1 What are Colors? Colors database contains List of Colors. This also has pre-defined Color Databases like Wikipedia, xkcd, Crayon, CSS, System, Moroney and Pseudo Pantone. You can also define your own colors using a Color Designer. The application theme can be changed to colors available in these databases How to get here? You can activate the Colors Screen by doing the following. 1. Touch the Settings button in the bottom toolbar of Main Entry Screen. 2.
