3 Self-Service Packaging Registration Traditional Enter your personal and company details in click : Please note that your account is not yet activated, so you will be unable to login right now. You will instantly receive an from Apptimized with a link to be clicked to confirm your identity. Please check any SPAM folders in case this doesn t arrive. After your identity has been confirmed our administrators will review your registration and activate your account. Please note that your account is not yet activated, activation might take a few hours to complete, and you will receive another from Apptimized confirming activation. Once the activation notification has been sent you can log in to Apptimized. Wizard Complete one of the signup wizards to register an account, depending on the product & subscription type:

4 Once you ve completed the Wizard you will be automatically logged into Apptimized. Basics Login Visit : Log in with your details:

5 Create A Project TBC Access A Project Locate your Apptimized project on the left-hand side and expand the menu bar: Upload Installation Media Start the Upload by clicking Add application and the Installation source box.

6 Browse to the installer file you want to package. Upload any file you want, just ensure to put multiple files into a ZIP archive. Select the file and click Open Wait for the upload to complete

7 Meta Data And click on the file that should be used to extract application information, typically the main installer file in your installation source, such as vendor and software name and version, a.k.a. meta data. Adjust the information manually if needed.

8 Click Save Changes to submit the meta data. If Apptimized is aware of a newer version being available for your application, you will get notified at this point. Click on Finish Upload to continue to the next step. Discovery Machine Preparation In Discovery, perform a manual installation and configuration of your application. All steps will be automatically recorded into a Word document. In the drop-down menu

9 select the operating system on which Discovery should be performed. Click Save changes to confirm your selection.

10 Click Continue with Discovery and wait a moment while we are preparing a virtual machine.

11 Install & Configure Locate your uploaded files and start with the installation process. As you can see from the thumbnails, each click produces a screenshot, highlighting your activities.

12 When the installation is finished, start the application and perform further configuration as needed.

13 Control Menu When done, click Finish in the control menu, or Restart to redo the Discovery on a fresh VM. You can also take screenshots manually and toggle auto-screenshotting on and off. You can also put your browser into full screen mode here. If you prefer working on the VM directly via RDP rather than a browser windows, click the RDP button

14 and open the RDP that is downloaded. You can also send the RDP file to one of your colleagues by

15 to perform a joint discovery. When done, click Finish in the control menu and Continue with Discovery.

16 Edit The Document Next you can review and adjust the screenshots and comments produced by Apptimized. Delete unneeded screenshots Achtung unten rechts

18 Provide additional information at the bottom of the screen which might be useful later.

19 Click Save changes to submit the result which will instantly build the Discovery document for Download.

20 Click Finish Discovery to proceed to the next step. Packaging Machine Preparation In Packaging, perform another manual installation and configuration of your application. All activities will be automatically recorded into a software package. In the drop-down menu

21 select the operating system on which Packaging should be performed. Click Save changes to confirm your selection.

22 Click Continue with Discovery and wait a moment while we are preparing a virtual machine.

23 Before starting to package, install any prerequisites that might be required by your package, but should not be packaged along with the software. When done, click Start Packaging.

24 Start Monitoring Choose the packaging method you want to employ. The available options might be different depending on the source media provided and your project settings. When you are ready to start the packaging process, click Start in the Recording controller. Avoid unneeded actions now as they might get into the packaging result.

25 Locate your uploaded files Install & Configure and start with the installation process.

26 When the installation is finished, start the application and perform further configuration as needed. It is recommended to start the application even when no further configuration is needed.

27 Pause Monitoring You can pause the recording process at any time in case you are unsure or want to make changes that should not go into the package. Stop Monitoring When done, click Stop in the Recording Controller

28 and wait until the recording is finalized. Filter Captured Results Next you can review and adjust the recording result produced by Apptimized.

29 Exclude resources which do not belong to the application and include resources that were accidentally excluded. You can also apply 3 predefined filters with different exclusion thresholds. When done, click Save & Exit

30 and wait a moment while the package is being built. Edit the Package If you need to perform further edits to the package or review it even further, click Yes to start the advanced editor, otherwise No to complete the packaging process.

31 Wait while the editor loads your package and perform further customization as needed. Change meta data,

32 add additional files, change properties

33 or validate your package for consistency. When done, close the editor.

34 You can either download and test your package locally right away or test it in-line by clicking on the Testing tab. Verify The Result Select the operating system on which in-line testing should be performed, click Test selected package

35 and wait a moment while we are preparing a virtual machine. Launch the package installation by clicking install.cmd. Your package will install automatically without requiring any user input. Achtung unten rechts

36 Start the packaged application and review if all configuration settings correct.

37 Control Menu You can also test uninstall of your package by clicking the uninstall.cmd. When done, click Finish in the control menu, or Restart to redo testing on a fresh VM. Go Full screen or use RDP file to access the VM as shown in the previous steps. When done, click Finish Packaging to to continue to the next step.

38 Result QA QA is a dedicated testing step, for instance to support a 4-eye QA principle. Select the operating system on which QA testing should be performed, click Save changes Achtung unten rechts

39 and Continue with QA. Achtung unten rechts On the VM, open the package folder

40 and start the installation by clicking install.cmd. When the installation is finished,

41 start the application And perform in-depth testing.

42 When done, click Log Result in the control menu,...

43 and save the result. Click Restart in the control menu to redo QA on a fresh VM or Finish when done...

44 the Finish QA to continue to the next step. Download Under Download you will find all objects uploaded or produced during the process

48 Settings Configuring the system To configure your Apptimized project to your needs click on Settings in the menu bar. Find the configuration settings for each step in the tabs on the top. Change your settings as needed and save the result.

49 Adjust the uploader behaviour and the discovery settings. You can upload your own discovery template for instance.

50 Under Packaging find an extensive list of properties that will be automatically applied to all packages, also know as Packaging Standards. Adjust those settings so they reflect your environment Achtung unten rechts

52 Tenants TBC Users & Groups & Assignments Users & Groups Groups are used to group users who have the same permissions and perform the same task in an Apptimized project. Unless a group manager is defined all users in a group are equal. You can review and change group settings under Groups & users as a Project administrator. Note that the initial default group of the Project administrators cannot have a group manager and is therefore always manager-less: Creating a group To create a new group, navigate to Groups & users as a Project administrator: Click needed: to add a new group. Enter a meaningful group name and define a manager if

53 You can change these details again by clicking the button in the Actions menu of the group: Adding users to a group In order to add users to this newly created group, click in the Actions menu of the group: Adding existing users to a group Click : Inviting new users to a group (and Apptimized) Click : Enter the user s address into the field to send an invitation link to this address or copy the invitation link into the clipboard, e.g. to send it via chat:

54 Note: Everyone who clicks that link and is an Apptimized user will be added to the group automatically: If the user does not yet have an Apptimized account, the user is requested to register: Once the newly registered account got activated, the group membership is automatically assigned. Note: This message also appears if the user is currently logged out of Apptimized. Log in to accept the invitation. Assignments What assignments are Assignments control who (which group/ user) is allowed and requested to perform a certain step / substep in the workflow. Once the workflow reaches a certain step, the assignment rules will ensure the task is assigned to the correct group of users, and it will prevent unauthorized users from performing actions they are not supposed to perform. They also control to which users notifications are sent by Apptimized (see below).

55 Project administrators can perform any workflow action. Automatic assignments vs. manual assignments Automatic assignments are the default assignment model in Apptimized. Once set up for a project they will control proper task (step & substep) assignment of all applications going through the workflow. However, project administrators and managers responsible for the current step can reassign the task to other user who have sufficient permissions to perform it based upon their group membership via manual assignments (see below). Change automatic assignments To create automatic assignment rules, navigate to Assignments as a Project administrator: By default, there no assignments configured which means only project administrators can perform tasks in the project whilst other group members although the group existing in the project cannot perform any tasks at all. To change that, either click selection) or to assign a group to a main step (substeps will inherit this to assign a group to an individual substep. The minimum a user who is not member of the Project administrators group would need in order to see applications in the project is the permission to View overview (access to Overview project menu item) and View portfolio (access to Portfolio project menu item).

56 Change assignments manually In Portfolio click the button in the Actions menu: Locate the task you want to reassign and override automatic assignment rules. Click on either to remove an existing assignment and / or to assign the task to another user that is generally permitted to perform the tasks by group membership. Please note that the current step of this application is highlighted in green. Notifications notifications are sent out on workflow status changes for applications which are processed in Apptimized. Notifications are received by or if the group has a manager. Factory packaging Project administrators.
