3 Initial Installation When installing ProphetX you will see a dialog box asking if you want to install the Excel Addin module. Select Yes and click OK for all the system defaults. Launching Excel Addin Launch ProphetX (it must be running in the background in order to user the Excel Addin modue. Launch Excel For Excel 2003: If you already have an earlier version of the Excel Addin installed on your computer you may have to Select Tools/Add-Ins from the Main Menu Bar before using the program. (Version 2.2 and higher will do this automatically.) o Find the name of the ProphetX Addin program and click on the check box to activate it NOTE: If you have previous versions of this program listed, these MUST also be deactivated by removing the check mark/s. For Excel 2007: Select the Window button in the upper left corner of the screen and then select the Excel Options button at the bottom of the display. Click on Add-Ins Click on Go next to Manage: Excel Add-Ins Make sure the ProphetX Addin is checked. Then go to the Trust Center (Windows/Excel Options/Trust Center) and select Trust Center Settings Click on Add-Ins and make sure all selections are unchecked

5 Using Excel Addin Quick Quote Allows you to retrieve 1 actively trading symbol at a time. (History cannot be retrieved using this selection.) Select the cell where you would like the data to be placed. If you would like the data labeled, select the drop down next to Include Labels (the default selection) to include labels or no labels. To the right of the Quick Quote selection, type the ticker symbol. The resulting price data will be placed in the selected cell in the spreadsheet. Example: Quotes Allows you to retrieve 1 or more actively trading symbols. (History cannot be retrieved using this selection.) Click on the Quote button to open the DDE Quote dialog. If there are symbols in the Symbol List that you do not want to display, either highlight them and select Remove or select Clear All to remove all of them. Type the symbol you want to display and click on Add or press Enter. To enter more than 1, simply continue typing the symbols and clicking on Add or pressing Enter. To find a specific symbol or add a number of symbols to the list, click on the button to activate the Symbol Drilldown dialog and select the fields you want to display. If you want to display column headings, be certain that Display Data Labels is check marked at the bottom of the dialog. You may also quickly retrieve an entire Futures chain. Type the symbol root in the Symbol entry area and then click on the Future chain button. This will add the entire future chain to the symbol list section on the right.

6 Conversion Note: When using the conversion tool, please make sure that the cursor is on one of the active symbols in the dialog box or the conversion tool will not work. If a currency or unit conversion is needed, click on the Conversion button to open the Conversion dialog. The symbols you ve selected in the Quote dialog will be automatically entered in the Conversion dialog. You may select 1 or more items for conversion or enter the conversion criteria and select Convert All. The conversion area at the bottom of the dialog allows you to select currency, unit conversion, or both. When finished, and you click OK, the results will be placed in the spreadsheet. Example of Currency and Unit Conversion:

7 History Allows you to retrieve 1 or more symbols from the ProphetX history database. Type the symbol you want to retrieve from history. Click on Add If you want to retrieve more than 1 symbol repeat the first 2 steps above or activate the symbol search by clicking on the? button. If conversions are necessary, click on the Conversion button and follow the same steps you do for Quote conversions. Select the appropriate interval, filters and sorting selections, if necessary Select the Time Range the start is where in history to start retrieving end is the data closest to today if selecting size it will end with today s date and go back the number of days you specified Make the appropriate field selections you want to display If you want the column headings displayed be sure to check mark the Display Field Labels. (Default) Example of History for NG@1:

8 History Snap Allows you to retrieve data for 1 or more instruments on a specific date in history, such as all the closes on a specific date for Natural Gas. Click on the History Snap button Select the date in history for the data that you want to retrieve Enter the historic symbol (Symbol Root, Month Code, and full year) in the Symbol entry (Whenever you want to retrieve expired contracts they must be entered with the symbol root and month in upper case characters and the full year at the end, as shown in the example) Click on Add Repeat for additional instruments If you need to do currency or unit conversion click on the Conversion button to display the conversion dialog box. Select the fields you want to display and whether or not you want labels on the display Click OK Example of History Snap :

9 Symbol Search Use the Symbol Search to retrieve symbols that you don t know the syntax for, or to retrieve multiple symbols at one time. Click on the button in the dialog box the Symbol Search dialog will open Click on the drop-down arrow under Source/Category to select the data group you want to retrieve the symbol/s from Double-click to select the instrument market type Double-click to select the actual instrument The symbols and descriptions will display at the bottom of the dialog box. If a symbol is currently not active it will display No under the Active column Double-click to send the symbol to the Symbol List in the DDE Quote dialog box. Continue double-clicking until you have all of your preferred symbols added. (You can also hold down the Ctrl key and select the preferred symbols and click OK.)
