Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-1/33 Diamant Master Guided Session #1 A Diamant Master overview Before proceeding in the tutorial itself, it is necessary to go through the description of the Diamant Master architecture and organization. Diamant Master workflow Diamant Master is a server solution installed on a dedicated machine, it permanently mirrors the raw data (Historian database) for fast processing, reduces the number of points with wavelet based filtration, stores and shares the filtered data and exports filtered data sets to third party databases. The DMC (Diamant Master Controller) is used to configure the settings of Diamant Master (mirroring, filtering, users privilege). The Diamant Master Client module in Ecrin, on the other hand, operates Diamant Master and transfers the data and the technical objects between Diamant Master and the Ecrin analysis modules. The DMC can also be used by the client to monitor on-going processes in Diamant Master (mirroring process, filtering process).

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-2/33 B Introduction The objective of this session is to illustrate the Diamant Master key features, seen from the client side. You will be guided through the startup of a project and the exploitation of the Permanent Gauge Data. This will give a simple workflow using the Ecrin/Diamant Master integrated environment to transfer data, technical objects between the mass data storages and the analysis modules. To practice the use of Data Transfer from Raw Data sources definition it is necessary to have a 'Database'. In order to avoid any 'wrong operation' that could damage the existing real database we will indicate the procedure to 'simulate' a raw data source from the server with BLI files (BLI stands for Binary Large Indexed). C Requirements The necessary BLI files must be downloaded from the KAPPA website: That can only be done by a registered User, with the proper Username and Password. Select 'Additional Tutorial Data' to download the zip file containing EcrGS01-Pressure.kbl and EcrGS01-Rates.kbl. These BLI files contain pressure and production data, one value every 5 seconds during 7 months. That represents about 3 million data points for each channel. D Configuration D.1 Server configuration This part of the configuration has to be performed by the IT engineer in charge of the Diamant Master Server (DMS). Run the DMC ( on the server, using the Admin account (created during the installation) to add a user (the client). Note: We strongly recommend that you assign rights with the 'Create' privilege only, at least while the new user becomes familiar with Diamant Master. This is to avoid potential mistakes on the existing data already created by actual users. The privilege can later be extended.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-3/33 Copy the 2 BLI files in a folder visible from the server (it can be on the server itself), i.e.: for the guided session, let s call it: 'C:\Training Database\bli'. Define the data source through the DMC. The Administrator privileges are required. In the 'Data sources' page of the 'Administration' section, select the 'KappaBli Plugin' option. After pressing 'Create', define the data source, that you may call 'Training BLI' and indicate the relevant BLI directory path as illustrated below. Hit 'OK' to confirm. Your data definition appears then in your available definition list. For more information about the Plug-in type selection and the Data Source Definitions see also the DMC on-line help, by clicking on the Help button in the Kappa Bli Plugin dialog.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-4/33 D.2 Client configuration Once the IT engineer has installed and configured the DMC on the Diamant Master Server, the Diamant Master Client users must install and configure Ecrin on their workstations. Start Ecrin and from the 'File' drop-down menu, select 'Diamant Master connection '. The available servers are displayed with their corresponding privilege levels. Your server should appear with the icon, indicating that it is started and available. Select your server and hit 'Connect'. Once connected, the field list is displayed and shows if any, the already existing fields.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-5/33 E Creating a field, loading data and edition When launching Ecrin for the first time, no field should exist. To create a field, press on below. Hit 'OK' to confirm. to proceed and input the field name as indicated The field called 'Training field' is created on the DMS. It can then be opened and accessed by any other declared user. Open the 'Training field'. The left side of the main screen displays the content of the browser. The right side of the window is the 'display' window for the current node shown in the hierarchical browser. After creating a new field there are 2 active display modes: View List, and View Info. After data have been loaded, the View Plot and View Table modes are also activated. Each node type has its own default view mode. The Browser toolbar provides options to create items for the active field: PVT and Kr, Well groups, Wells, Sub-folder for the 'Associated files' directory, 'Associated files', and Plots can be added with a simple click on the corresponding icon.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-6/33 We will add the PVT and Kr objects which characterize the reservoir of the newly created field by using their respective buttons and from the Browser toolbar. Click on the icons and accept the default settings for oil and gas. Two new items have been added to the 'Technical Objects' node (see right). Create a well by pressing. You can input well description in the 'Well properties' dialog. Expand the well icon in the tree. E.1 Loading the pressure data A right-click on the well #1 icon displays a pop-up menu which offers multiple facilities.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-7/33 Depending on the size of the data set, we can load data either by choosing: or Add new gauge (mirror)... Add new data (no filter)... For a large size data set we must load the data as 'New Gauge'. It presents the advantage to create a mirror of the data set that will display only a reduced number of points (around 1/1000 points) for the sake of preview. The mirroring method is designed to optimize handling of large data set: Filtered Dataset can then be created under a Mirror Gauge node, and we can create as many samples as needed, by adjusting the filter settings according to the needs of analyses. When faced with a small sized dataset, we can load the pressure as 'New Data' directly. As the option says, no filter is applied and the complete set of points will be displayed and manipulated entirely. In case of large amount of data set, the 'Add new Data' option should not be used as the data display and its manipulation would be extremely slow. Note: right-clicking on one of the nodes below the production group displays a pop-up menu will only allows loading as complete data (without filter) and not as mirror gauge. This method as said earlier is meant for low number of data points. As we have here real-time flowmeter data for production rate, we need to go through the mirroring method for loading. This procedure to load filtered production data will be described later in chapter E.4. Let us for the moment focus on how to load pressure data. Select 'Add new gauge'. In the 'Data source' dialog select the 'Training Bli' created by the IT engineer. Press 'Next'. You are then connected to the 'simulated database'. In the 'Tag Search' dialog press on Search to display the available tags. EcrGS01p contains the pressure data and EcrGS01q the production data. Select EcrGS01p, then press on Get limit date and Get # records to display the main statistics of the pressure channel.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-8/33 Press OK to proceed. The adequate reading format is already defined since it is included in the database. Press Create to initialize the mirroring process. A message pops up to indicate that you will need to call Refresh the calculation. to see the progress of

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-9/33 In the browser tree, select the gauge. Click on to view the gauge info. It may take a few minutes before you can see data in your gauge info summary. If you do not get any data, click on the 'Update All' button. If after several attempts, nothing happens, contact your Diamant Master Administrator. The total number of points is but only 3378 points have been selected to be displayed in the preview. Click on to display the plot. The 3378 points are plotted for simple preview. Note: Clicking on the 'Update all' button updates all the plotted Gauges and Filtered data with the DMS current content. However, it does not imply the synchronization of the DMS with the raw data sources. Pressing on the button synchronizes the display in Ecrin with the DMS content, which means that it adds and updates any item created or modified externally (i.e. by another user) and that could not be updated automatically on the client by the DMS. The mirroring update process (from raw data to the BLI) is controlled by the 'Processes' page of the DMC. By default, it is set to be triggered every two hours. We will now see what is happening on the DMC side during a mirroring process (Diamant Master Controller).

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-10/33 E.2 Getting details on the mirroring process using the DMC The DMC (Diamant Master Controller) can be launched from the client station for monitoring the various processes. Input in your Internet Explorer. You may be asked for downloading an ActiveX. It is necessary to manage the processes and to display their status. You will be prompted only once, if the required ActiveX is not present or if its version is too old. The 'Summary' page displays the information about the server, the users, the field and data on the DMS and about the status of the various processes. The 'Processes' page can be accessed only with the Administrator privileges. It allows to visualize and to modify the DMMP (Diamant Master Mirroring Process) settings. The Timer value is the interval between two Updates of the mirror with the 'new' incoming data from the 'Raw Database'. The Max Record (i.e pts) is the number of downloaded points during each query. If various gauges are to be updated simultaneously that will be done, gauge by gauge, by subsets containing 'Max Record' points (i.e pts).

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-11/33 The 'Mirroring details' page shows the progress of the mirroring of all the gauges, the current number of mirrored points, the number of new points to be mirrored. It gives the possibility by right-clicking on the icon to Stop or Start the mirroring process of any gauge. E.3 Creating a filtered data and lock for edition E.3.1 Creating a filtered data Even if the gauge (mirror) contains the full set of data points, this large number of data is not adequate for analysis. It is then absolutely necessary to filter these data to get a reduced and representative subset of points for analysis purposes. The filter must reduce the number of points, respect the information and have a frequency adapted to the needs (i.e. PTA or PA). All these properties are obtained in the same process, based on a wavelet algorithm, acting as a high pass filter around the pressure breaks and acting as a low pass filter for the rest of the data. The filtering process includes a first denoising phase and then a post filtration where the number of points is reduced according to criteria, versus time and pressure change, adapted to the objective. This filter typically divides the number of points by 100 without losing significant information. Right-click on the gauge, a pop-up menu is displayed.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-12/33 Selecting 'Add new filtered data' leads you to the filtering settings dialog where you can reduce and filter the raw data (see also 'Filtration' in the Ecrin on-line help). Accept all the default settings; click on to display the filtered data statistics. The number of pressure points has been reduced to approximately points (depending on your filtering settings). You can go back to the DMC in the 'Filtering details' window: it shows the current number of filtered data points. The filtering process automatically updates the data every 100,000 new points present in the Mirror gauge. Press on to display the plot page. This is not a preview and is the full view of the resulting filtered data sample.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-13/33 By right-clicking on the node, a pop-up menu is displayed. You can force the filtering process by using the option Filter last data to update the filtered data with the last content of the gauge. The current filter settings will be applied. Note: this option is time consuming because it runs a dedicated additional process on the last 100,000 data, if 20,000 new points are detected it will process the last 80,000 data point + 20,000 new points. This should not be confused with 'Update all' which updates all the Gauges and Filtered data used in the field with the DMS. It is also different from Get last data that only updates a specific node with the DMS. The two later operations will not trigger any extra DMMP, they just ask the server whether it has got any new points. This is anyway automatically performed at the start, every time the client reconnects to a Diamant Master Field. You may change and reapply the filters on the same gauge data. You can have multiple filters with different filtration settings for the same gauge. E.3.2 Locking a filter for edition Once filtered, the new sample is ready to be worked on for analysis. If you need to work on and process a set of filtered data, you need to 'lock it' first so that other users cannot modify it meanwhile. In the 'Plot' view mode, pressing on the icon will lock the data set. See 'Edit data as points' in the Diamant on-line help to get more details on the Toolbar. If you see the 'lock' icon another user., it means that the channel is locked and being processed by When you finish modifying the data channel you can unlock it by pressing the icon.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-14/33 E.4 Loading production data In the case of large production datasets, such as downhole flowmeter measurements for instance, we must proceed with the creation of a new mirror gauge, then of a filtered dataset, as for the pressure data. It is the filter data, of manageable size compared to the initial raw data, that we will then drag and drop to the raw production section for usage. When faced with a small-sized dataset, we can load the production directly in the raw production section for usage. In this case we are going to create a mirror gauge first as the dataset is of significant size. The procedure is similar to the one used for loading pressure gauge: 1. Map the complete production data as a 'new gauge' under the 'well#1' icon. 2. Add filtered data below this 'production gauge'. 3. Drag and drop the filtered production data into the production icon. Select 'Add a New Gauge' from the Well #1 pop-up menu. In the Data source dialog select the 'Training Bli' created by the IT engineer. Hit 'Next'. You are connected then to the 'simulated database'. In the 'Tag Search' dialog press on to display the available tags. Select EcrGS01q, then press on Get limit date and Get # records to display the main statistics of the production channel.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-15/33 Press OK to proceed. In the Load Step 2 dialog, change the data type to Oil rate in m3/sec: Press Create to initialize the mirroring process. In the browser tree, select the gauge. Click on to view the gauge info. The total number of points is but only points have been selected to be displayed in the mirror preview. Click on to display the preview plot. Only the preview points are plotted and should not be considered representative of the data.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-16/33 Right-click on the gauge and select 'Add new Filtered data' in the pop-up menu. Accept all the default settings, but this time for the interpolation interval in the 'Filters' tab use 'Production Analysis (5 min)' and proceed with the filtration process. Since it is production data, a resolution as fine as for the pressure is not needed. A warning message will appear after the preload step as this real set of data starts with a gap of more than the imposed condition (1 hour here) between the first point and the remaining one which makes the first pre-load to fail. However it is not important as the program will automatically switch to the next valid window of points and begin the filtering. Click on to display the filtered data statistics. The number of production points has been reduced to about points. Click on Fltd Data then drag & drop the filtered data into the Oil production. You can change the aspect of this data set to green with a right click + properties + selection of the Aspect button: Click on to display the plot.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-17/33 E.5 Derived channels and alarm settings E.5.1 Creating Derived Channels Derived channels are the results of calculations that can be required by the user. The objective of a derived channel is to create an output data set resulting from n input channels. Writing Y the Y values in the inputs, the values of the new channel are defined as: Ynew[t]= f(y1[t], Y2[t], Y3[t],, Yn[t],a1,a2,, ak). Where the parameters a1 ak are user defined constraints. Any data channel can be used in the formula written by the user in the dialog accessed by pressing in the top toolbar: The user can select within basic operation types: and within standard mathematical functions by pressing. Write a simple formula to detect production values smaller than 1000 bpd and set them to 0 and keep the rest unchanged. Type if (a<b, 0, a) in the formula box. Press on Update list to display the parameters used in the formula as variables for the calculation. We are going to assign a as the production channel values, specify it by pressing on and checking the Ecr01q Fltd data node:

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-18/33 Check b as a constant and input 1000 as follows: Press OK. In the Output, make sure the type is consistent, here it should be oil rate, with property as Liquid rate and unit to be displayed in STB/D Click on the derived data node and press on to display the plot. All the production values less than 1000 bpd have set to zero to declare them as build ups. Once done please delete the Derived Channel for clarity in the following chapters.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-19/33 E.5.2 Setting alarms The derived channel functionality can also be used to set alarms to warn the user that a certain function or data value has reached a certain predefined value or when Boolean logic function is set to false. The output of the derived channel needs to be of logical type to set an alarm. Let us set an alarm if the pressure drops below 8600 psia. Press on to get access to the Derived channel definition dialog, and name the channel as Lower than 8600 and type in the formula box: if (a<8600, 1, 0). Press on to display the list of the formula parameters: a is the pressure channel values, specify it by pressing on EcrGS01p Fltd data node: and checking the Select the Output type logical', as a reminder, only logical function works for alarm settings:

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-20/33 Press on the tab Alarm and check Use this derived channel as an alarm, and set the dialog as follows: Set particularly the type of alarm to Historical that allows scanning data situated in the past, starting from the specified date (23/04/2001). ( Instantaneous type scans only the newly imported data from now.) We can set the alarm to send a warning message to the person in charge. You will need to add a valid address for the mail recipient. Press to proceed. At the beginning of the scan the Alarm node appears as detected, then appears as when the logical function is true. before any limit value was The alarm turns to when the logical function was true in the past but is false currently. The logical function can be built for multiple purposes, for example for detecting an abnormal noise or when the user wishes to consider the difference of amplitude between two data channel. Use the 'Advanced' option to set the frequency. Depending on the choice you will receive an notification.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-21/33 E.6 Shut-in identification and its use In the following sections we are going to view a few specific functionalities that have been developed in Diamant Master in order to help the engineer to tackle specific reservoirsurveillance-oriented tasks. In our current pressure dataset EcrGS01p, a number of Build-ups are visible on the pressure history. Yet the rate history of Well#1, loaded from the raw downhole permanent sensor is unlikely to present clear null sections synchronized with the pressure history, which is however essential for analysis. In order to ensure synchronization between rate and pressure for analysis, the engineer first needs to tag the existing shut-in periods as such. This could be a very lengthy task for a long history over time but we will see how we can speed up this preprocessing task in Diamant Master. E.6.1 Shut-in indicator Select the EcrGS01p filtered pressure data node in the data tree (in Plot view and not in table view); at the far right of the Plot toolbar there are several options with the Shut-ins title. First, lock the pressure history for shut-ins edition in order to enable the functionalities, you will then see this toolbar. This first icon is used to display the build-up indicator channel, a logical channel equal to 1 inside build-ups, 0 outside, which will be used later on for pressure / production synchronization. Since we have not defined any build-up yet in the history, this will not cause any change in the display. The second icon, disabled at this point, can be used to set a time selection as a build-up. To enable this option you need first to select period with, then select to confirm it is a well shut in. This is the classic manual selection tool. The third button runs a semi-automatic option to define build-up. The principle of this option is to pick any points within a build-up, and to let Diamant find the start and end times automatically. After enabling this option just click anywhere in the period and the shut in will be defined. The fourth button is a fully-automatic option to define shut-ins periods. This time the algorithm will automatically find all the shut-in periods for you, based on a minimum duration and delta p settings. We will demonstrate in details the use of this option in E6.3 For the moment, let us select the longest shut-in as shown, using the semi-automatic function click anywhere in the build up to define it, then click on for use, unlock the channel: and pick it again to select it

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-22/33 Detected build-up using shut-in selection tool A node Shut-in indicator will appear in the browser. This is a logical function that is 1 when a shut-in is detected, and 0 anywhere else:

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-23/33 E.6.2 Shut-in express Once a build-up is tagged within the build-up indicator channel, it is possible to get a quick look at the corresponding loglog plot in Saphir with just a few clicks. A shading appears on the longest build-up, since we have selected it. Click the Shut-in express icon; this is the last option of the Shut-in toolbar. A dialog is displayed to control the transfer of data to Saphir: Through this option, a Saphir file will be built on the fly with the current pressure data, and some rate history which will be 0 over the shaded zone (the selected shut-in period). For the rate history prior to the build-up we need to select a given fluid (here only Oil is available) and we need to select among: The actual production = OIL Rate channel under Well#1. Part of the actual production only. A manual entry of production time tp, and rate Q. We will choose the first option select Use the total production history in the dialog. Leave the Truncate data at the end of the last shut-in checked so that only data up to the selected shut-in period is carried over to Saphir. Note: the rate history currently holds more than 5600 rates. When we go into a real analysis later we can reduce those rates to something smaller in Saphir; for the time being all we want is to have a quick look at the loglog trend without calculating any model but only time superposition so this is OK.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-24/33 Without further inputs, we are taken straight into Saphir after the Extract dp step: If we wanted to carry on with a real analysis, the first step would be to visit the Main Information section of the Saphir document to enter the proper Test and PVT parameters. We will not do it in this session. Close the Saphir file (do not save). Note: you can select several shut-ins periods and still use Shut-in express. By doing so, when in Saphir you will have multiple build-ups or fall-offs extracted at the same time in the loglog plot and the semilog plot, very useful for comparison. E.6.3 Automatic Shut-in Go back to Diamant Master and stay in the EcrGS01p Fltd data node. This time we are going to use the automatic shut-in functionality to define all the build-ups in one go. This option allows the user to define multiple shut-ins in the history using an algorithm which considers the pressure behaviour and shape. Click right on the node, lock it for edition, then above the plot window, click on to reset the channel to 0. Unlock it again. You can do this by right-clicking on the shut-in Indicator node as well. All the defined shut-in periods will be erased. Click on the EcrGS01p Fltd data node and display the plot. Click for edition, then on the button.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-25/33 The shut-in detection settings dialog appears: Make sure that analyze the signature of the data is checked with the displayed option selected. Set the minimum pressure change for a shutin to be 200 psia and minimum shut-in duration to be 1 hour. Press OK then unlock the channel again. All the BUs detected automatically, according to the criteria, are highlighted: Clicking on the node Shut-in indicator displays all the BU s detected. Before using these multiple build ups for analysis purpose, we need to clean and adjust the production history in order to get it synchronized with the pressure history. Note: Although the automatic detection is very useful and can speed up significantly the data pre-processing stage, it is based on an algorithm which may sometimes come up with incorrect limits if the pressure build-up exhibits such behaviors as irregular humping, soft shut-ins, very noisy shut-ins, etc. In those situations, you can correct the limits manually or semi automatically. In our current case, the selection made automatically can be kept.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-26/33 E.6.4 Corrected Production Click right on the well# 1 node and select the option Create/Reset corrected production. Keep the default setting in the dialog: Press OK. The created Corrected data is in fact a pre-defined derived channel (explained below), its equation can be seen by double clicking on the oil rate channel under the corrected production node (expand the node to see the oil rate channel): Derived channel definition Set the Corrected production oil rate curve in red. Set the Shut-in Indicator in purple.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-27/33 In this particular case, the channel is defined in such a way that the resulting corrected production oil rate channel is set strictly to Zero whenever a shut-in is detected in the build-up indicator channel, and will leave the rate as it is originally in raw production anywhere else. As a derived channel, the corrected production would be extended automatically as the input oil rate gets updated via the database. All we would need to get this channel up-to-date is to pick the future build-ups so that the build-ups definition is up-to-date. Select the Plot view for Well#1, select raw data production oil rate, corrected production oil rate and shut-in indicator, to view the difference between the original production and the modified one. A blown-up view at the beginning of one of the longest build-up is presented on the following figure. Note: the corrected production is a representation of the surface rates. When downhole rates are present and we have soft shut-ins of the kind above, it may be preferable to define the build-ups only at the time when the downhole rate vanishes. This is beyond the scope of this session. By applying this formula we can see here that the rate now is strictly zero when the shut-in indicator is 1 (means that a shut-in is selected), eliminating thus potential noises when there is no flow, and strictly cut to zero at the start of shut-in for synchronization with pressure history.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-28/33 E.7 Initializing a Saphir (PTA) project based on the automatic shut-in detection and the corrected production There are three ways of doing data transfer between modules. Choose ONE of them and perform the following operation. E.7.1 Transfer Method 1 In the application toolbar, choose Saphir. Start a new project by a click on the icon, keep all parameters and PVT defaults. Go back to Diamant and click on the node Fltd data under EcrGS01p, then on the top bar icon, to send the entire pressure channel to Saphir: Selection of the Saphir session Proceed in the same manner for the oil rate channel, under Corrected Production : Go back to Diamant Master, click on the node Corrected Production / Oil rate, press on the icon in the toolbar to send it to the same Saphir session. E.7.2 Transfer Method 2 In the same manner, create a new Saphir project, then open the browser. You can drag & drop the filtered data from Diamant Master to the Saphir 'Tested well' pressure gauge folder. Do the same for the corrected production in Diamant Master production and drag & drop it into the Saphir production folder. Afterwards, close the Browser.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-29/33 E.7.3 Transfer Method 3 In the same manner, create a new Saphir project. In Saphir, under Interpretation tab in the left hand bar, click on and select the option From an opened Ecrin document. Choose the corresponding corrected production oil rate to load. Perform the same when loading pressure with. Choose one method and perform the data transfer to a new Saphir file. We will then rename the Saphir file to PTA_test.ks3 and save it locally. Of course, to finish setting up the PTA project one would need to enter the proper test and PVT parameters, but it is not in the scope of this session. E.7.4 Partial transfer You may also transfer only a subset of the data. Come back to the Diamant window and display the Pressure filtered data plot. Select the main build-up using. Press on to transfer the data and specify in which session and well you want to drop the selected data (as shown above right). Press 'OK' to confirm.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-30/33 E.7.5 Initialization of PTA Come back in the Saphir main window. You get the Pressure and Production history plot (revert the Pressure gauge to the full history if you loaded a partial section as indicated above). Because the pressure and production have been synchronized using the corrected production options, there is no need for calibration. At most, we may need to simplify the rate steps so that we get a simpler rate history to fasten simulation. Note: This is NOT needed in this demonstration but we will provide the procedure here for the sake of completeness. To simplify rate, in Saphir, go to Edit rates, select all the rate data, open the processing box, select the tab Simplify and impose a % Delta of 5% for rate simplification. Press OK, the rate steps are reduced. We can proceed directly with a pressure transient analysis, by extracting the longest build up, using the 'Extract dp' button, then to visually pick the desired build up.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-31/33 Click on to erase all selection first, then select the longest one as shown in the precedent image. Validate and you obtain the following results. E.7.6 Partial reload A part of the data can be reloaded with different filtration settings in order to get more points. This may be useful when over long time history, the user wishes to have a flexible filtered sample in order to optimize data size. For example, one may want to refine a specific data portion, or to get a much rougher resolutions for points situated in the very beginning of the well life. Select in Diamant Master a subset of points like we did in Section E.7.4. Lock the data to edit it, using. Click on, and choose to back up the original data. You are back to the 'Filters' tab, in this demonstration we are going to compare the result of the filtered build-up to the raw data, select: In the Filters dialog uncheck: 'Wavelet', and 'Post-filtration'. Press 'Load'.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-32/33 Press on again to transfer the re-populated data to Saphir. We now have the same filter as before except for this specific portion where it is raw data. If you check the number of data in View Info , you can now see the number of points is about instead of Switch back to Saphir and choose the appropriate gauge to view the same build up using raw data this time. As can be seen no noticeable difference is observed. The filtering was successful.

Ecrin v Doc v KAPPA Diamant Master Guided Session #1 DmmGS01-33/33 E.7.7 Attach an Ecrin work file to Diamant Master Field Save the Saphir file again. We are going to include it in the Diamant Master field. To do so, go back to Diamant Master, and click on the Associated files icon the path to your Saphir file., then indicate Your file is now uploaded on the server and is saved within the Diamant Master project.
