Page 2 Guide for Epson Printers (older models) Start up Photoshop Elements. Go to the Edit menu before you open any images. Select the Color Settings option. On the Color Settings dialog box, select the Full Colour Management - optimized for Print option. Click OK to close the dialog box. You only need to do this once, as Elements will remember the setting. What this has done is make Adobe RGB the default working space. It will keep a profile of srgb if the image has that as the embedded profile.
Page 3 Now you have to open the charts to be printed. The filenames are TC9.18 RGB i1 1_2.tif and TC9.18 RGB i1 2_2.tif. For each chart, go to the File menu and select the Print with Preview... option. Tick the Centre Image box to centre the chart on the page. Set the Scale option in the Scaled Print Size box to 100%, with the Scale to Fit Media and Show Bounding Box boxes unticked. Tick the Show More Options box. The Document Source Profile in the Source Space box should state Untagged RGB. If it does not, cancel the printing and close the charts. Go back to the Color Settings and check that everything has been set correctly.
Page 4 In the Print Space box, click on the Profile drop down. Select the Same as Source option (which should be the first one in the list). In the Print Space box, the Intent option should now be greyed out. Please compare your dialog box with the one opposite. They should now look exactly the same. If the page is the wrong way round, click on the Page Setup... button and set the orientation to Landscape. When everything matches, click the Print... button to go to the printing options.
Page 5 Select the Utility tab of the driver software. Click on the Nozzle Check button to check that the printhead is printing correctly. Follow the instructions to print a test chart. If the chart is incorrect missing gaps, then follow the instructions to clean the print head (there is also a Head Clean button on the utility page which can be used as well). After each clean, reprint the chart and check it. Repeat this process until you get a correctly printed chart. Select the Main tab of the driver software. Change the Media type to the closest match to your paper type (most papers will recommend which type to use). Please note this down as you will need to select the same media type when you use the profile. Set the Color to Color. Change the Mode to Custom. Make sure the Print Preview is NOT ticked (this can cause profiling problems with some drivers and should not be used). Click the Mode Advanced Button.
Page 6 Change the Print Quality to the quality setting that you want to use for this profile (usually 1440 or 2880). Please note this down as you must use the same quality setting whenever you use the profile. Make sure the High Speed is NOT ticked. If it is available, tick the Finest Detail option. All other available options on the left should NOT be ticked. Set the Color Management to No Color Adjustment (VERY important). Click the Paper Config Button. Set the Color Density to 0%. Click the OK button to go back to the advanced settings. Click the advanced settings OK button to go back to the tab pages of the printer driver.
Page 7 Select the Paper tab of the driver software. Set the Paper Size and Orientation to the correct setting for the paper you are using. Select the Layout tab of the driver software. Make sure the Reduce/Enlarge option is NOT ticked. Set the Watermark option to None. Click the OK Button to start printing. Repeat the process for printing the second chart.
Page 8 Once the charts are printed, it is very important to leave them to dry. Even if they seem touch dry, we would recommend leaving them for 24 hours. Once dry, you need to write an identifying code onto each chart. If you look at your ed order summary or at your current history in your account, you will see that each profile has a unique code of 3 numbers. Write this on the top right hand corner on the front of each chart - please do not write anything else on the charts. Please place the charts into a flat envelope - preferably cardboad backed. Please do not fold the charts or use a tube. Send the charts to : PureProfiles, 100 Kingswell Road, Ensbury Park, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH10 5DL United Kingdom
