As a well-known manufacturer of laboratory product and medical devices, we consider it our obligation to provide for safe disposal of our single-use products. In view of the varying volumes and sizes of waste items requiring disposal in practices, clinics and universities, we offer a wide range of disposal products to cover all of these user needs. This product variety is reflected in the many different volumes, openings, forms and final closures offered. SARSTEDT with Q U A LIT Y We make sure all boxes satisfy at least the minimum (german regulation) requirements so we can guarantee safe disposal box handling to you, the users. Of course our Disposal Boxes also comply with the international regulations like and. These latter regulations differ from the in that they are generally not concerned with form or appearance, but rather with robustness (wall thickness, 1.20 m drop tests, etc.). The certification also regulates whether or not a disposal box may be filled with hazardous materials. - boxes are recognized by the multi-digit Code, usually imprinted on the top of the lid. All of our Disposal Boxes are made of polypropylene and can therefore be subjected to environmentally friendly incineration, whereby no harmful substances are released. This occurs in particular when sharp or pointed objects are discarded. Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV) and HIV are the viruses that occur most frequently. In Germany alone, an estimated 500,000 needlestick injuries occur with follow-up costs amounting to approx. 50 million euros. 20 Note on use properties Note on use of Proper and intended use The disposal container is used solely for disposal of pointed and sharp objects, e.g. cannulas and scalpel blades, resulting from medical practice. Disposal and the environment The plastics used in our products are environmentally neutral when disposed of. It is safe to dispose of these plastics andfi lls since they release no harmful substances into the air, soil or water. When disposed of in waste incineration plants, the plastics PS, PP, PC and PE serve as valuable energy sources to maintain incineration chamber temperature. The higher the plastic content of the waste, the lower the amount of heating oil required. Incineration of these plastics does not produce harmful emissions. Benzine, ethereal oils, highly oxidizing agents and aromatics attack PS, resulting in stress cracking. PP is resistant to aqueous solutions of inorganic salts, acids, alkalis and organic solvents at up to 60 C. Alcohols, esters and ketones also do not attack PP. Aromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons, oxidizing substances such as concentrated nitric acid, and at higher temperatures fats, oils and waxes, cause PP to swell. PC is resistant to higher concentrations of mineral acids, many organic acids (e.g. carbonic acid, oleic acid and citric acid), oxidants, reductants, neutral and acidic salt solutions, a number of fats and oils, saturated, aliphatic and cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols with the exception of methanol. Lyes, ammonia gas, as well as its soluble form and amines, attack PC. PC is soluble in a number of industrial solvents. Other organic compounds such as benzene, acetone and carbon tetrachloride may cause stretching or swelling. HD-PE LD-PE PE is highly resistant to chemicals. Generally speaking HD-PE is more resistant to chemicals than LD-PE. Aqueous acids, lyes, alcohols and oil, as well as water and salt solutions, do not attack PE. Concentrated, oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and halogens have a disintegrating effect. Disposal PS is a pure hydrocarbon compound and is therefore environmentally neutral when disposed of.
