37 Conclusion We have been able to forecast the progress of broadband in the U.S. with reasonable accuracy over a period of 20+ years via Analysis of drivers and constraints Adaptions of basic exponential and S-shaped curves applied to minimal data This progress has occurred in the U.S. under market forces with minimal government involvement or regulation Copyright 2015, Technology Futures, Inc. 37
38 Forecast The same forecasting approach is likely to work in the future Continued progress is likely to continue in the future if we don t let politics mess it up (which we probably won t) Copyright 2015, Technology Futures, Inc. 38

49 Are these comparisons meaningful? Most countries ahead of U.S. are not comparable. Most are small, dense, and/or wealthy. Others have unique characteristics. Not clear that the differences imply significant competitive advantage Similar comparisons by city, by price, etc. are also questionable Yet loud rhetoric and major U.S. policy decisions are revolving around them Copyright 2015, Technology Futures, Inc. 49
