1 SERMON RECORDER page 1 You will need: the Olympus Micro-Recorder a micro-sd card attenuation cable TURN THE OLYMPUS RECORDER ON Slide the Power switch (left side of the recorder) in the direction of the arrow (towards the bottom of the recorder). This is a spring-loaded switch; so, slide and release. You should now see the Olympus go thru its power-up on the display screen. It s a good idea at this point to confirm that battery life is still good. If 2 bars or less, you may want to change the batteries before going forward. OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR FOR THE MICRO-SD CARD SLOT Flip the access door open. This hinged door will swing open from the back of the unit and towards the bottom. It doubles as a stand - allowing you to prop the unit at an angle for easier viewing. With the door open, you will see the micro-sd card slot on the right side of the unit. Insert the micro-sd card as shown (label side DOWN). The slot is spring-loaded. Push the card straight in until it latches. (To remove it, simply press on the edge of the card to unlatch the spring lock.)

2 SERMON RECORDER page 2 Once the card is inserted, the unit will ask whether you want to switch recording TO the SD card. With the YES selection highlighted, confirm by pressing the OK button (center of the joystick navigator). The selection will be confirmed in the display.

3 SERMON RECORDER page 3 If a micro-sd card is not available, you can skip the steps above and record to the unit s internal memory instead (default selection). The SD card makes it possible to take the audio file home and leave the recorder with the church gear. If you record to internal memory, you will need to pull the audio directly from the recorder using the supplied micro-usb cable. CONNECT THE AUDIO CABLE If you haven t already done so, connect the audio cable to the recorder and to the sound board. On the recorder side, use the ATTENUATION cable (hot pink label MIC ). Insert the MIC plug into the MIC jack - top right of the recorder. If not already attached, insert the mini-phone plug of the mini-to-rca cable adapter into the attenuation cable jack (blue label LINE ). The attenuation cable is necessary to lower the mixing board s audio output level to one that won t distort the Olympus recording circuitry. The other end of the cable should be 2 RCA connections - red and white. Plug those into the red and white ports of the mixer labeled RECORDER OUT.

4 SERMON RECORDER page 4 START RECORDING To start the recorder, simply press the red RECORD button on the front of the recorder. The display should now show you in RECORD mode and the level meters should be fluctuating with the sound input. The digital counter should also begin to show elapsed time. STOP RECORDING When done recording, press the STOP button. Turn the power OFF by sliding the POWER switch towards you in the same way you turned it on. Press the SD card to release the latch and remove it from the unit. OFFLOAD & UPLOAD THE AUDIO If you recorded to INTERNAL MEMORY, you will need to use the USB/micro-USB adapter to connect with your computer. The micro-usb plugs into the left side of the Olympus. The other end is standard male USB which goes to a female USB port on your computer or a hub. The Olympus recorder should load and show up as an accessible device on your desktop. Open it and locate the file you recorded. Drag & save to your computer. Then upload the file to the box.com address you will be given. If you recorded to SD card, you will need a card reader to off-load the audio recording. The card reader will either need to accept a micro-sd card directly, or a regular SD card (for which you will need a card adapter in which to insert the micro-sd card.). The card should mount as an accessible volume on your desktop. Drag and save the audio file to your computer. Then upload to the box.com location you will be given.
