DIN sterilisation basket sizes are recommended under European standards DIN EN and DIN It states that the dimensions and design of the sterilising baskets and instrument trays for sterilising goods are adjusted to the sterilisers in which they are used. Most modern sterilisers are manufactured with the same internal dimensions, in this case DIN recommended dimensions, allowing for standard basket sizes to be used with them. This creates conformity and ensures that all instruments and equipment are processed safely and will continue to meet its performance specification, enabling efficient steam penetration and sterility of items. The DIN sizes come in a full size DIN of 480x250mm, half sizes 240x250mm, quarter sizes 120x250mm and three-quarter sizes 360x250mm. This enables all DIN sized sterilisation baskets to fit inside any DIN standard steam steriliser and also stack upon each other.
