5 Polycom Video Edge (PVE 1000) Release Notes This document details new features and known limitations of the Polycom Video Edge (PVE) 1000 appliance, Version 1.0. These release notes contain the following sections: About the PVE 1000 Known Issues About the PVE 1000 The Polycom PVE 1000 platform is a distribution appliance that efficiently streams live and on-demand video within enterprise networks. Configured and managed in concert with the Polycom VMC 1000 appliance, the Polycom PVE 1000 automates maximization of bandwidth conservation with a combination of unicast and multicast network segments and provides multicast-to-unicast failover on designated servers. The Polycom PVE 1000 supports multiple video formats such as Windows Media, H.264, Flash, and.mp3 formats; and protocols including progressive download, http streaming, and multicast support. 6 Polycom PVE 1000 Release Notes Known Issues Windows Update Issue In order to apply a Windows Update to the Polycom PVE 1000 appliance, all services on the appliance must be stopped. Administrators should plan appropriately. SSO for VideoEdge When SSO is enabled on the Polycom VMC 1000, configuration and manifest files cannot be properly shared between the VMC and the Video Edge devices associated with it. This is a known issue, and a workaround exists. Please consult the Polycom VMC 1000 Administrator Guide. WMS Status in RHQ Issue The status of the Windows Media Server may not be accurately reflected at all times in the RHQ monitoring tool. In certain cases, the WMS status will incorrectly be displayed as down. The RHQ monitoring tool may also report the status of live publishing points in WMS. These are known issues. Device Naming Issue A Polycom Video Edge device can be added in the VMC Administrative Portal with a blank name field. A device with a blank name cannot be edited after adding. This is a known issue. Download Issue Streaming video files distributed by the PVE cannot be directly downloaded from the Videos tab. They must be downloaded from the Downloads section. A future release of the Polycom PVE 1000 will support direct downloads from the Videos tab. Pending and In-Progress Files Report Issue The transfer of small files (less than 1 MB) may not be reflected accurately in the In-Progress section of the report. If the transfer fails, however, the file will appear in the Pending section of the report. Classic Viewer Portal - Preview Issue When using a Video Edge delivery option for a VOD program with downloads on the Classic Viewer Portal, the Download icon will not appear on the Preview page. 7 Known Issues Polycom Video Edge (PVE 1000) Release Notes Appliance Manager - Accessibility Issue In certain cases, the Appliance Manager will become inaccessible after the PVE appliance reboots. This is a known issue. Appliance Manager - Session Timeout Issue When using an appliance at a lower security level, attempting to disable the Inactive Session Timeout option in System > Security Profile will fail. This is a known issue. Appliances operating at super-secure level do not allow Inactive Session Timeout to be disabled; this is the intended functionality. Appliance Manager - Reset Password Issue After attempting to reset a user s password in the User Management > Reset Password dialog, the following error message may appear: Password was not reset.
