2 ArcGIS Online Both systems are complementary and designed to work together Hosted by ESRI (SaaS) ESRI provided content and services Runs on your own infrastructure Advanced GIS functionality GeoEvent server, Image server and Insights Computers have unreliable internet connections Behind your firewall if you have sensitive data (PHI). - Components ArcGIS Server - provides layers, services and powers your Portal for ArcGIS - the web frontend and infrastructure backend, it supports user experience and interaction for the system ArcGIS Web Adaptor - ESRI application installed on the web server that forwards requests to ArcGIS Data Store - ESRI managed data repository 2

4 - Deployment Builder installation and configuration wizard Limitations Single machine only You can t customize the location of installation directory You can t change the name of web adaptors It will not work with aliases - Installation Install ArcGIS Server. During the installation give an existing domain account (the windows service will run from this account). Configure ArcGIS server site. with the site administrator account. 5 - Installation - Installation Install Data Store and configure it with ArcGIS server. It is needed when you configure a hosting server PostgreSQL database Administration tools are installed in <ArcGIS Data Store installation directory>\datastore\tools Commands tools run as administrator backupdatastore (automatically configured, runs every 4 days) configurebackuplocation (if you want to change location) describedatastore (how often the backup runs) 5

6 - Installation Install ArcGIS Portal. During the installation give a domain account (the windows service will run from this account). Create ArcGIS Portal. Use site administrator account (not a windows domain account). - Installation 6

7 - Installation Install ArcGIS Web Adaptor and register it with the Portal. Federate ArcGIS Server with the Portal and set as a Hosting Server. - Installation 7

8 - Installation Federation - integrates security of Portal and Server Sharing model is the same as ArcGIS online Share with no one Share with Enterprise Share with everyone Hosting server - hosts content published to the Portal. You can have only one hosting server. Publish hosted layers Add zipped shape file, CSV file Batch geocode from CSV file Insights for ArcGIS Perform raster or feature analysis in Map Viewer - Security Portal home page Configure security 8

9 - Security - Security Scan Portal for security There is a Python script called portalscan.py <Portal_for_ArcGIS_install_location>\tools\security directory Tool can be run to produce an html report with security recommendations. 9
