Code font identifies commands, code examples, filenames, pathnames, and output displayed in a command window. For example: Use MyCommand to start the foo process. 8 Release Notes 2 New Features This section lists features added since the last release of this product. Release The following are new features in this release. Images on Axes TIBCO Spotfire enables the user to setup images to represent categorical labels on X- and Y-axes. Text Area Enhancements TIBCO Spotfire includ es the following enhancements to the text area: o o o HTML editor with scripting capabilities. Background image and color. Rescaling of images. Script Execution and Document Properties In TIBCO Spotfire it is possible to associate a Python script with a document property and have the script automatically triggered whenever the property value changes. Share Data File in Library TIBCO Spotfire offers the ability to export a data table to the library where it is stored as an SBDF file that can be reused in other documents. New Map Chart In TIBCO Spotfire there is a new map chart with lots of new functionality, including multiple layers, an online base map, and geocoding. However, note that there is no public API for the new map chart in the release The geocoding feature is based on geocoding tables that come bundled with the server installer, but which must be manually imported into the Spotfire library. The tables are represented as data files in the library (using the new feature described above). The new map chart exists in parallel with the old map chart. Old *.dxp files will continue to use the old map chart, but the new map chart is used (by default) when new visualizations are created. It is possible to change the default behavior through a preference setting.

9 Release Notes 3 Transformations In TIBCO Spotfire it is possible to insert transformations on all inmemory data tables after import. Data from Connectors In TIBCO Spotfire it is possible to: o o o o Loading data Import d ata to the Spotfire data tables from RDBMS sources. Apply on demand criteria to the Spotfire d ata tables, in order to use only a subset of data in the visualizations, regardless of whether the table is imported or in-database. Applying ondemand criteria is available for RDBMS sources. Choose not to create Spotfire data tables from all views available in the connection to the data source. Non -Spotfire views are not directly available for Spotfire analyses, but they are included in the connection and can be added as data tables at a later stage. Tables in the connection can be reused to create multiple Spotfire tables. Insert columns and rows from connectors for in -memory data. In TIBCO Spotfire it is possible to open an analysis file even if a data source fails to load data. TIBCO Spotfire supports matching on null values when importing columns. Calculated Columns In TIBCO Spotfire it is optional to embed the calculated columns in the analysis, and instead having them recalculated when the analysis is opened.

12 Release Notes 6 Migration and Compatibility This section explains how to migrate from a previous release to this release. Release Installation 1. First install/ upgrade the TIBCO Spotfire Server to version. 2. Install TIBCO Spotfire Professional Note: If the TIBCO Spotfire Professional or older is installed, it is recommended to uninstall it prior to installing the TIBCO Spotfire Professional. 3. Finally, deploy the TIBCO Spotfire distribution on the TIBCO Spotfire Server. Upgrading from Previous Version without Installing 1. First install/ upgrade the TIBCO Spotfire Server to version. 2. Deploy the TIBCO Spotfire distribution on the TIBCO Spotfire Server. 3. Start the old version of TIBCO Spotfire Professional, log on to the TIBCO Spotfire Server and accept the update. Installation Notes If the.net 4.5 framework is not installed, it will be downloaded and installed when launching the TIBCO Spotfire Client installer. If the product localization is defined as a user group preference, a client restart is required after the initial login to the server for the changes to be fully applied. Note that clients are not informed that such a restart is required. It is also important that the appropriate localization pack ages are deployed to the TIBCO Spotfire Server prior to setting the user group preference. Note that the correct Language pack and the matching server preference must be set on the very first server that the user connects to. Changing the settings on the Server will not have any effect. If the localization group preference does not have any effect, it can be enforced on clients using Tools > Options. Closed Issues The table in this section lists issues that were closed in the named release.

13 Release Notes 7 Closed In Release Key Summary TS When using certain fonts in a cross table, the text can appear slightly misplaced when exporting to PDF. TS The value bars in a bullet graph get a white border when exported to PDF. TS Tiled markers in a scatter plot have a line drawn diagonally over them when exporting to PDF. TS Bars disappear (or become too thin to see) when exporting to PDF, if there are many bars in a bar chart. TS Exporting a heat map with many rows to PDF with vector graphics results in an empty visualization. TS When exporting a table visualization with columns rendered as links to PDF, the underline will become a strikethrough. TS When using in-db d ata it is not possible to limit data using comparisons that use aggregated values. TS When exporting visualizations that are based on in-db data to PDF, filter settings are not included. TS Poor performance for hierarchies with a large number of categories (>1000) when calculating OVER expressions that combine the methods AllPrevious and NavigatePeriod. TS Non-informative error message in the cross table when using grand total for columns and the cell values expressions refer to either CategoryIndex.Rows', CategoryIndex.Columns', the levels on the vertical axis (Rows.*), or the levels on the horizontal axis (Columns.*). 5.5 TS Hebrew characters in head er/ footer are not correctly rendered in exported PDF. 5.5 TS The number of HTTP connections for the TIBCO Spotfire desktop client is limited to the max value used by the installed Internet Explorer, typically 4 connections. In some cases the performance is improved if more connections are allowed. 5.5 TS When having duplicate attribute hierarchy values in a treemap, performing a drilldown using one of the duplicate values will always use the first of the duplicate values as defined by their unique name sort order. 5.5 TS Multiple non-aggregated expressions cannot be used on a continuous axis. 5.5 TS Filter tab in the Export to PDF dialog shows unique value instead of presentation value when using Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services in-db data. 5.5 TS Rules in combination with Column Names affect the wrong elements. TS TIBCO Spotfire freezes when trying to group by many attribute hierarchies when using an in-database connection to an OLAP system. TS Teradata connector cannot be used when the Terad ata database contains broken views. TEDA-18 Not possible to use filters when using the Teradata connector and filtering on a Timestamp column. TS Not possible to create a detailed visualization using an in -database connector when using the Time or DateTime data type. TS For in-d atabase, Spotfire d oes not handle case-insensitive databases correctly. TS For in-d atabase, Spotfire does not handle case-insensitive databases correctly. TS TIBCO Spotfire may terminate when opening an analysis linked to Oracle where the

14 Release Notes 8 Closed In Release Key Summary client lacks the Oracle client. TS Excel file created as an export from SAP BO cannot open within Spotfire. TS Images as Labels not positioned correctly when image is exported or in Web Player. The API GetBaseRowIndexes returns an error, and filtering is not applied when using multiple derived DataViews (for example, an aggregated DataView based on a non - aggregated DataView based on a DataTable). In certain rare circumstances, Spotfire may become u nstable when saving a file. Dates formatted as d ates including months and not any time parts in Microsoft Excel are imported incorrectly into Spotfire. If the Line Similarity tool, or the K-means Clustering tool, has been run on data filtered by a list box filter, the file cannot be saved. When adding or removing a document, column, or table property used as an Input parameter in the Data Functions UI, the result may be inconsistent and cause Spotfire to become unstable. Unnecessarily high memory consumption for the operation "Add rows" when having many columns. Spotfire becomes unstable when highlighting or marking in a bar chart with a custom expression like "[C] is null" or "([C]<4) IN (True)" on the category axis. At certain screen resolutions, tooltips are displayed outside the visible screen area. When an analysis contains large data sets, rendering and filtering may take some time, and TIBCO Spotfire Web Player may become unstable if data is exported while visualizations are still in the process of rendering or filtering. Custom visualizations using the DataView API that request a "group by column" return an error when the same column is used several times. Bookmarks created in version 4.5 or earlier may fail when opened in 5.5. Bookmarks may fail directly after creation when having related data tables in the analysis. Use of column properties in an analysis activates the recalculation icon for Data Relationships. When under heavy load, Automation Services jobs creating PDF files may fail with an InvalidOperationException. Spotfire may become unstable when using data table properties that are named the same in custom expressions, even though the data table properties come from different data tables. A relation set up between two data tables does not recover when an on -demand data table is based on a procedure and the relation at some point has had an input that did not return anything. A certain calculated column in a 5.0 analysis, is no longer valid in 5.5 because columns have been renamed to each other. When a data table used in a filter relation, related to a visualization with a marking, is deleted, Spotfire becomes unstable. Different hash values are computed for +0.0 and -0.0, resulting in, for example, broken filters. Wrong result when using an additive aggregation method (e.g., Sum) having an OVER expression containing a single AllPrevious, intersected with an odd number of nested Parent larger than 2. Relations from 4.5 with implicit cast (relations where the columns from both d a ta tables are of different data types after any applied methods) do not work in versions later than Spotfire 4.5. Opening a file with a dendrogram created in an older version of Spotfire, may cause Spotfire to become unstable. WeightedAverage gives wrong result in visualizations when filtering is applied.

15 Release Notes 9 Closed In Release Key Summary All filters in an old analysis are missing when the analysis is opened in Spotfire Web Player 5.5.0, if the analysis contains more than one d ata table, but the filters are set to be visible for only one of the d ata tables. Incorrect use of ColumnProperty, DataTableProperty and DocumentProperty functions in custom expressions can cause Spotfire to become unstable (if the argument is something other than a string). The Spotfire Client may terminate with the exception "An item with the same key has alread y added", when having a Cross Table or Heat Map in an invalid state and having multiple expressions for cell values that had the same alias/ display name. If a user, that has no license to save an analysis file to d isc but only to the Library, opens an analysis from the Library, the user will not be prompted to save the file to the Library when closing the analysis. The Spotfire Client may terminate when marking in a plot that uses a document property in a custom expression on a categorical axis. Performance issues when handling large numbers of columns, such as changing aggregation method or re-ordering columns, in the plot properties or "Select columns" dialogs. Auto-binning on Category axes prevents editing of expressions for Vertical Lines & Curves. The Spotfire Client may terminate when drawing a horizontal line in Bar Charts if using expressions containing post-aggregation "THEN" statements on the Y-axis. Under some conditions, analysis files that has been created with PerkinElmer Lead Discovery (LD) deployed cannot be opened if LD is not deployed. The Spotfire Client may hang or terminate when populating a property control based on a column with many repeating values. For Bar Charts, the layout type automatically changes from "Stacked Bars" to "Sid e-by- Side Bars" when bringing up the Property page for subsets if the subset "All data" is enabled. Unable to change aggregation back to None in Select Columns dialog. Rapid changes in highlights or markings in complex analyses can result in resource leaks. The Spotfire Client may under some conditions terminate when editing range filter labels. When using the Web Player on ipad, visualizations are only partly visible when using the setting "ipad Landscape" or "ipad Portrait". Horizontal Lines based on Line from Data Table are shown even when filtered out if "Compensate for missing values" is checked. In Graphical Tables, header texts can disappear when scrolling horizontally. The Spotfire Client may in some circumstances terminate while opening analyses with the exception "System.IndexOutOfRangeException while loading file.". Add columns and Add rows may join on the wrong column if the column to join on is a calculated column that is added as an import transformation, if the analysis was created in a version before 5.0. This may, for example, lead to columns with no data. Graphical Tables don't show any visual marking indication when "specify separate data limiting" is used. In analyses with linked data, any calculated columns based on linked data causes those data tables to be stored as embedded data (instead of linked) in the analysis, which can result in large file sizes. Calculated columns that depend on a list value document property are not recalculated if the document property has the value null. Axis selectors are not upd ated when changing Bar Chart orientation in Web Player via script. Scatter Plot legend s sometimes do not show all shapes that are shown in the plot if the number of shapes in the unfiltered data exceeds 256. Imported color schemes may in some cases not be applied correctly.

16 Release Notes 10 Closed In Release Key Summary In Table Plots with d ata limited using expressions, expressions that contains non - processor document properties may cause the plot to not be updated in all cases. The Spotfire Client may hang for some time after a column selector has been clicked on. Line Chart value labels for marked rows will not be displayed for some marked rows, if there are more rows in the Data Table than the "max number of labels" setting. No images are returned when using Image from URL in Table Plots, if connecting to a server that requires NTLM authentication. Under some conditions, the "filtered by others"-indication for hierarchy filters can cause performance issues when used with large d ata sets in the Web Player and/ or Text Areas. Under some circumstances, various components (such as Visualizations, Text Area controls and custom components) may react as if a Document, Table or Column property value or data in a column has changed although it has not. When using custom DateTime format with Range Filters, clicking on the Calend ar icon may cause the Spotfire Client to terminate. Removing columns from Cross Table Plot in the select columns dialog crashed spotfire if the columns were continuous. Table group collapse button not visible in Web Player filter panel if using multiple tables but only one visible table Unable to open file with erroneous curve from data table expression Spotfire may terminate when opening or configuring analyses with combination chart, if combination chart has many multi-level 'series by' categories explicitly set Description missing in the right pane of Open from Library dialog Crash when using multiple monitors and Matrox graphics card Table plot not upd ating properly if not limited by filtering Incorrect coloring in crosstable and heatmap when having measures with the same display name. K-means clustering only giving 1 cluster when having flat or relative flat lines. Spotfire may terminate when visualization contain empty continuous color scheme Trim calculation may give bad result for analyis created in TIBCO Spotfire 3.3 o r earlier Data from an information link that is pivoted may not be correctly imported for analyses created in TIBCO Spotfire 4.5 or earlier if the pivoting is based on a calculated column. When explicitly defining relations for external tables, if you change the table drop down after the OK button has been enabled, the column(s) drop down becomes empty but the OK button is still enabled. Unable to check values for 'Visualization title' and 'Description' on the PDF Export General tab in Internet Explorer Export to PDF fails if name of analysis contains &. When exporting a Bar Chart with many bars to PDF, some bars are not visible in the PDF. Slow TIBCO Spotfire client startup on some systems. K-means calculation may fail when using columnnames on the X-axis. Line Similarity using Euclidian distance may fail to give result. Extension rendering tab control with width less than 48px result in Invalid argument when using IE7, IE8, or IE9 TIBCO Spotfire may terminate when setting dendrogram to external upd ate. Unable to upgrade TIBCO Spotfire client previous upgraded from TIBCO Spotfire when upgrading as restricted user.

Share to TIBBR fails for TIBBR hosts version 4.1. Tibco Spotfire may terminate when using another data table than the visualization main data table for both pie size and sector size in pie chart, scatter plot or map chart. Unable to list schema from Teradata if there are broken or incorrectly setup views. Get Values on values prompt for Informationlink fails Long running image requests are not cancelled when the web browser is closed. Filter panel not upd ated when the filtering scheme is changed via scripting. Formatter lost in Pivot transformation. TIBCO spotfire may terminate when using range filter calend ar control for custom datetime format strings. Webplayer diagnostics information XML not properly escaped Open from Library may fail if running multiple spotfire sessions simultaneously. TIBCO Spotfire may terminate with Stack Overflow exception when Opening Analysis that uses map operator on many values in custom expression. Mixed content warning when when selecting Analysis Information on Webplayer using https. Bad performance for larger cross table visualization when using auto decimals number formatting Graphical table with y-axis = row number (baserowid) doesn't get upd ated when the data table is refreshed and the number of rows increases. Visualization rendering take long time when having a large number of trellis panels. Data Properties with the 'IsUserEditable' flag not set is not exported in SBDF and STDF formats. TIBCO Spotfire may terminate when upd ating an existing Line Similarity if the resulting columns have been filtered upon (this whould not be possible to do). Occasional restart of WebPlayer server with System.NullReferenceException at Sp otfire.dxp.ap p lication.visu als.cond itionalcoloring.coloringcollection.find LevelByN ame in event log Public Javascript API throws an exception when trying to get marked items and a filtering scheme is supplied. TIBCO Spotfire Web Player memory may not be released after executing a Python script, which explicitly catches exceptions within the script. PersistentDataView API throws an exception when accessing columns if underlying column name has changed. PersistentDataView API may throw an exception when using additional selections. TIBCO Spotfire may terminate if using relations where one Data Table has been renamed to the original name of the other Data Table. For the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player, the first rendering of a detail visualization in a shared document takes longer than the subsequent renderings. For the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player, changing the selections in the hierarchy filter in the filter panel causes the hierarchy filter to disappear for a second and then reappear. TIBCO Spotfire Web Player may throw an error when quickly interacting with property controls that changes axis expressions. Spotfire may become unstable when highlighting in a visualization, which contains an in-database main table and an in-memory second ary table. The sort order in a list box filter may be incorrect after reload, resulting in an erroneous selection of rows.

18 Release Notes 12 Closed In Release Key Summary Calculated Value in a Text Area has incorrect alignment for string values. The formatting of a reference line label is wrong when the type of the Y axis is LongInteger. Labels get assigned to the wrong data points when there are empty values present. Labels get assigned to the wrong data points when using zoom sliders. When starting the client from the commandline, the area attribute is ignored. Trim calculation can show the wrong value when opening a file that was saved in TIBCO Spotfire 3.3. API for drag and drop targets throws an exception when used according to example code in SDK. Data OnDemand from an Information link that is pivoted, with the pivoting based on a calculated column, may not be correctly imported if using an analysis created in TIBCO Spotfire version 4.5 or earlier. Custom aggregation methods are called too many times. TIBCO Spotfire may terminate when performing und o/ redo (or applying bookmarks) for some analyses containing advanced expressions. Workaround Change the default d ata table in Data Table Properties. Summary Transparent lines are not rendered correctly in Export to PDF when using Vector graphics mode. Workaround Do not use transparent lines if you intend to export the analysis to PDF. Summary When having multiple trellis panels, the Colors page in the Visualization Properties shows the colors for the first trellis panel. The other panels may have a different color configuration but that cannot be seen in the property page. Workaround None. Summary When exporting a map chart to PDF using vector graphics, the map is not rendered correctly. Workaround Use raster graphics when exporting a map to PDF. Summary It is not possible to connect to a server from a machine in another NT domain by using Run As when launching Spotfire. Workaround None. Summary Hardware graphics acceleration may not work on old er graphics cards or if the drivers are not up to date. Workaround None. Summary Certain graphics cards and drivers lead to crashes, slow response times, blank visualizations, or missing shapes when hard ware acceleration is used. Summary The 3D Scatter Plot is not supported in a Citrix environment since the plot requires hard ware acceleration. Workaround None. Summary Filtering in the Data Relationships results table will prevent re-calculating the Data Relationships. Workaround Reset filters and Data Relationships can be re-calculated again. The terrjava package (and any packages that depend on it, such as the sjdbc package), require a version of Java 1.6 or higher to be installed and available on the same machine, and the JAVA_HOME environment variable need s to be configured to the path to the Java installation. Summary Error message is shown in visualization for some invalid expressions (with for example mismatched parenthesis) that were allowed in 5.0. Workaround Correct the invalid expression and the visualization will work. Summary No warnings when working with cube columns with non -unique distinct values and combining that with another data table in a visualizat ion. Workaround None. Summary Refreshing a schema definition in Spotfire based on external data does not provide a warning if the table has been renamed in the external system. Workaround This issue exists for the Oracle and the Teradata connector. Fix the analysis by bringing up the Data Tables in Connection dialog, remove the table that has been renamed from the Data tables in connection list box, add the new table and rename that table to the original name. Summary Using multiple unrelated attribute hierarchies from e.g., Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services or SAP BW, on the Y-axis on a Graphical table results in a visualization error. Workaround Open the Custom Expression dialog for the Y-axis and change the NEST method to CROSS. Summary Marking in a visualization that uses data from Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services and is configured with a Not in Marking -subset will result in a broken visualization. Workaround None. Summary Spotfire does not support hierarchical sets in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, i.e., when a dynamic set returns more than one column Workaround None. Summary Wrong scale is shown in Line Chart when having log scale and error bars. The lines are compressed and become flat. Workaround None.
