If it is not already installed, it can be found online: http : / /www. o r a c l e. com/ technetwork / java / j a v a s e / downloads / index. html Note: Although IOL INTACT may work with OpenJDK, only the version of Java produced by Oracle is supported. 2

3 2 Installing IOL INTACT 1. The installer for IOL INTACT will automatically overwrite previous versions, if given the same installation directory. 2. First, locate the IOL INTACT installation file. This may have been provided to you, or you may need to download it from an IOL FTP server. Also locate the license file, and playlists. The playlists are stored as XML files. 3. Once the files have been copied to your system, it may be necessary to change the permissions on the installer. For Linux systems this can be done using the following command: $ chmod a+x i o l i n t a c t X.X.X.X R L M i n s t a l l e r 4. To install, execute the command as follows, making sure the license file is in the same directory as the installer: $. / i o l i n t a c t X.X.X.X R L M i n s t a l l e r 5. The license file can also be added after installation to the following directory: <i n s t a l l a t i o n dir >/ i o l i n t a c t /app/ 6. The installation directory and location of startup links can be specified in the installer, though the default on Linux is /home/username/bin/. 7. Navigate to the directory you specified for the startup links, and open IOL INTACT by typing: $. / i o l i n t a c t c l i e n t The server may be run similarly: $ sudo. / i o l i n t a c t s e r v e r If the bin directory given is in your PATH you can run IOL INTACT without changing directories. IOL INTACT should now open. Warning: Since IOL INTACT is running from within the terminal shell, closing this terminal window closes the session, and IOL INTACT will quit. 3

4 3 Post-Installation 3.1 Wireshark In order to view packet captures generated by IOL INTACT, an application capable of reading libpcap (pcap) files must be installed. Wireshark is one such application, and can be installed on Linux systems using the packagae repository, or on Windows and Apple systems from Wireshark s website: http : / /www. wireshark. org / 3.2 Opening pcap Files When reviewing tests with IOL INTACT it is recommended to open captures directly from IOL INTACT. This can be done by double-clicking on the network you wish to view from the Capture area of the Test Details tab. Depending on your Operating System configuration, you may need to make modifications to enable this behavior, as documented below Known Issue with CentOS 6 There is an issue related to opening pcap files with Wireshark on CentOS 6. To correct the issue utilize the facility within the File Browser to set the Default Application for files of type pcap. 1. Right click on a wireshark capture (.pcap), select the Properties option, select the Open With Tab, and select Add. 2. Wireshark should be an option in the list. Select Wireshark, and select OK. Close these windows. 3. Verify that the pcap from the File Browser opens with Wireshark. Intact should now be capable of opening Captures directly Known Issue with Red Hat 6 There is an issue related to opening pcap files with Wireshark on Red Hat 6. To correct the issue, edit the defaults file as root: / usr / share / a p p l i c a t i o n s / d e f a u l t s. l s t f i l e ( root a c c e s s needed ) and make the following change: Add a line containing: 4

5 a p p l i c a t i o n /x extension pcap=wireshark. desktop ; And update the link for Wireshark: rm / usr / bin / wireshark ln s / usr / sbin / wireshark / usr / bin / wireshark This removes the prompt to enter a password when wireshark opens a PCAP file Known Issue with OpenSuse 13.1 There is an issue related to opening pcap files with Wireshark on OpenSUSE To correct the issue, edit the desktop file as root: / usr / share / a p p l i c a t i o n s / wireshark. desktop f i l e ( root a c c e s s needed ) and make the following change: The line containing: Exec=/usr / bin /xdg su c / usr / bin / wireshark %f should become: Exec=/usr / bin / wireshark %f This removes the prompt to enter a password when wireshark opens a PCAP file. 3.3 Additional Server Setup ˆ When running IPv6 testing, disable IPv6 globally on the server. 4 Uninstallation To uninstall IOL INTACT, simply remove the iol-intact directory, and any associated links that may have been installed. (e.g. /bin/iol-intactclient) Uninstallation is not necessary if you wish to install a new version of IOL INTACT to the same directory. IOL INTACT will overwrite the previous version upon installation. 5
