If an RMF definition contains either a "#" or a "@" preceded by an escape character "\", the retention type may be incorrectly listed. If the resulting RMF pattern contains a fully qualified data set name after processing to indicate the "#" or "@" are actually characters in the data set name, and not masking characters, the retention type will be incorrectly listed as a Type 2 (single character substitution) and not as a Type 0 (fully qualified). SYMPTOMS: Incorrect information on the TLMS016 report. This does not affect the operation of the pattern masking function and the rule is still processed correctly. This value is not displayed on CA 1 report output. IMPACT: This change will only affect the CA TLMS TLMS016 report output, and will not have any effect on CA 1 users. For TLMS users, this is a cosmetic issue only, but it may create some confusion when examining the TLMS016 report output. CIRCUMVENTION / PROPER HANDLING: None. ENTRIES = ++PTF (RO65238) ENHANCEMENT: PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS TO CTSDEU This PTF provides a number of corrections and improvements to the CTSDEU data erase utility. 1) PARM=LAST has been changed to mount and process only the last volume of a multi-volume set. This avoids mounting earlier volumes to position to the last volume. 2) It is no longer required to code the first volume of a multi-volume set in the JCL. Any volume of a multi-volume set may be coded in the JCL and CTSDEU will position to the first volume of the set unless PARM=LAST is coded. 3) CTSDEU has been changed to use forward space file in place of reading every block on a tape. This can result in significant savings of CPU and clock time. 4) When running CTSDEU against a CA 1 managed scratch tape the following fields are now set to zero: TMVOLP - Total tape percentage in use TMFILEP - Tape percentage used by file TMCMPRS - Compression ratio 5) Corrected a problem where the dataset erase log report had garbage printed in the header of the report. 6) All CTSDEU error messages have been updated to use a CA$F2XX prefix. Messages CA$F209E and CA$F210E are also being removed since the tape management system (CA 1 or CA TLMS) will issue their version of these messages first. 7) Corrects a rare 'IEBTMS2 CCW WAS REJECTED' message when attempting to erase residual data on a tape that is part of a multi-volume set but is NOT the last volume of the set that had been created by CA Tape Encryption and PARM=LAST was not used. ENTRIES = ++PTF (RO65556) ENHANCEMENT: NEW FUNCTIONS FOR CTSSYNC UTILITY This PTF adds support for two new functions to the CTSSYNC utility used to synchronize CA 1 or CA TLMS with an IBM VTS. A new batch program, CTSXLIST, has also been added to call the IBM CBRUXEJC Volume Eject Exit, to process any tapes selected by the COPY/EXPORT function as if a Copy/ MOVE function had been performed. 1) The COPY/EXPORT function is added to perform an EXPORT without removing the tape volume from the VTS. A new control statement COPY is used to request this function. 2) A new SYNCTEST function is added. When SYNCTEST is requested a SYNC function is performed however the OAM database is not updated. The SYNCTEST also compares the CA 1 TMC or CA TLMS VMF with both the OAM VOLCAT/TCDB as well as the Library Manager database. If there is any difference between the 3 data bases being compared an error message will be issued. Even if the difference is between the IBM LM database and the IBM VOLCAT/TCDB, a new error message will be issued. 3) A new utility (CTSXLIST) is added that will read the status file (file sequence 3 on the virtual volume created by CTSSYNC) and will call the CBRUXEJC (Eject Cartridge exit) as if a MOVE/EXPORT function had been performed. This will allow CA 1 and TLMS to be udpated to reflect the actual container volume that the virtual volume has been copied to. (new paragraph) COPY The COPY command performs in a similar fashion to the EXPORT command, except that the exported volumes will be copied as opposed to being moved. The VOLSERs to be exported must be listed below the COPY command in the SYSIN DD. Note: The POOL parameter must be specified before the volumes to be exported. Otherwise, an abend will occur. (new paragraph) POOL= POOL parameter is a keyword parameter that is only used with the COPY command to specify the physical volume pool that contains the logical volumes to export. This will update the ACTVOL field within the tape management system to indicate which physical volume the virtual volume(s) have been stacked upon. This utility should be run after using CTSSYNC to perform Copy/Export processing. The 2 problems affect both CA 1 and TLMS clients, but the new enhancement is only related to CA 1 clients at this time. 1) Without this APAR applied, the INHIBIT SUPERVISOR flag is not set in the DEB when the Read-Buffered-Log is issued during CLOSE processing. This results in RBL data being unavailable during a subsequent RBL that in turn is used to update the statistics in the SMF21 type record. 2) The compression ratio may not be correct for very large data files due to some truncation errors. 3) The enhancement is to return the total number of bytes actually written by the tape application to the device. This may be different than the simple block-count times block-size calculation. SYMPTOMS: 1) The SMF21 records do not reflect the amount of data written to a tape file. 2) The compression value will be zero in the TMC/VMF for very large tape files. 3) None. IMPACT: 1) Reporting based on SMF21 format records will not be correct for tape files. 2) Reporting based on the compression field in the TMC/VMF may not be correct for very large tape files. 3) None.
