4 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.1 Charging your card reader 1 This unit is delivered in a partially charged state you must fully charge it before using it for the first time. Initial charge time should take 2.5 hours. To charge the unit, connect a USB CABLE TO MINI USB CABLE to charge the unit through the MINI USB port on the side of the mpos unit. 4
5 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.1 Charging your card reader 2 Always keep your mpos reader s battery level high. At low battery level, the mpos unit will beep to alert you, and display a Low Battery warning, after which the unit will automatically turn off within 10 seconds. The unit must then be charged immediately. Important: Your mpos card reader is battery operated. It is important to keep a constant charge in the device at all times. The battery level is indicated at the top right hand corner of the screen on the mpos card reader. It is recommended that you charge the card reader daily for at least 2.5 hours, and charge your device to full battery level at least once every 14 days. When the device beeps and displays a "BATTERY LOW" sign, it does not have enough energy to continue operating and will shut down automatically within 10 seconds. The unit must be charged immediately. The unit can continue to be used while being charged. Do not expose your card reader to extreme temperatures (heat or cold), moisture, power surges, drops, pressure or other potentially damaging conditions. Do not use the card reader with any non-maybank provided application. Any damages to, or tampering of the device will void all warranties. 5
6 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.2 Downloading the mpos mobile app 1 To download the Maybank mpos app on an ios device, launch the App Store app on your device and enter the search terms Maybank mpos. You need to have an itunes/app Store account to do this. Maybank mpos 2 To download the Maybank mpos app on an Android device, launch the Google Play Store on your device and enter the search terms Maybank mpos. You need to have a Google account to do this. 6
7 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.3 Getting your smart device ready 1 Maybank mpos works with most Bluetooth enabled ios and Android-based smart devices. If you encounter any problems connecting the Maybank mpos reader to your smart device, please contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit and provide details of the exact device model you are using. Please ensure Bluetooth connectivity is enabled in the settings on your mobile device. Location services should also be enabled in order for mpos to work. Please enable location services for both GPS satellite and Wi-Fi & mobile network where applicable. 7
8 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader To activate your mpos card reader for the first time, you will require the Mobile User ID and PIN (which you would have received in an from Maybank) and an activation code (which you would have received in an SMS from Maybank). If you have yet to receive this and SMS, please contact Maybank Terminal Management Unit via at To start, please ensure Bluetooth connectivity and Location settings are enabled on your mobile device. 1 Next, power on the card reader by pressing the Power Button. The card reader needs to be within a 10m radius range from your mobile device. 8
9 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader 2 Go to the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device to pair your mobile device with the mpos card reader. Select the matching serial number for your mpos card reader from the list of available Bluetooth devices and complete the pairing. Android ios 3 Launch the Maybank mpos app. On the Home page, click on Reader Settings, followed by Connect to Reader. 9
10 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader 4 Select the Serial Number of the card reader that you would like to connect to. If the Serial number that you are looking for does not appear in the list of available devices, click on Other Devices and wait for the list of devices to refresh. Once the reader is successfully connected, the Connected sign will appear on your screen briefly. 5 Now your reader is successfully connected to your mobile device on the log-in screen. 10
11 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader 6 Key in your Mobile User ID and User PIN from the from Maybank. The Terms & Conditions of use of the mobile application will be displayed. 11
12 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader 7 Once you have clicked to agree to the Terms & Conditions, you will then be prompted to key in your Mobile User activation code which was sent to you via SMS from Maybank. 8 After keying in the activation code, you will be prompted to change your User PIN. Your User PIN should be a 6-digit numeric code. 12
13 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader 9 After successfully changing the User PIN, the main menu page will be displayed. The activation process is now complete, and you are ready to start accepting payments. Important: Please activate your Mobile User ID within 30 days of receiving the activation and SMS. If you do not do so within 30 days, the activation code will expire, and you will need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit at TMU-MY@maybank.com.my to restart the activation process. 13
14 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.4 Activating your mpos card reader 10 For subsequent log-ins after the first time activation, enter your User ID and User PIN and press Submit. Enter the Reader Settings menu from the app and select Connect to Reader to connect the card reader to your mobile device. If the Serial Number that you are looking for does not appear in the list of available devices, click on Other Devices and wait for the list of devices to refresh. Then, select the required Serial Number to connect to. Once the reader is successfully connected, the Connected sign will appear on your screen briefly. Note: If the same reader has been connected to more than one device previously, you will need to unpair the device that you no longer want to connect the card reader to, and turn off Bluetooth in the device settings. Then, proceed to pair the card reader with the desired device that you would like to connect to, following the steps outlined above. Your card reader will then be ready to start accepting payments. 14
15 GETTING STARTED: mpos CARD READER & MOBILE APP 1.5 Important things to note on your Mobile User ID and PIN Please take note of the important points below regarding the validity of your Mobile User ID and PIN. Forgot my PIN: You are allowed up to 3 unsuccessful sign-on attempts. Upon the 4 th unsuccessful attempt, your Mobile User ID will be temporarily suspended. You will need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit via at TMU-MY@maybank.com.my to reinstate your Mobile User ID. Your PIN will also be reset, and you will be prompted to go through the activation process again and choose a new PIN. If you forget your PIN, there is an option to reset your PIN, provided that you have not already exceeded the maximum of 3 unsuccessful sign-on attempts. Your PIN can be reset by an authorised Admin User of your company in the mpos Merchant Portal (refer to Section 3.0) you do NOT need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit for this. You will then be prompted to go through the activation process again and choose a new PIN. Note: Your PIN can be reset via the Merchant Portal only if your Mobile User ID is still in Active mode. If it is in Dormant mode (no log-in session for more than 30 days), you will not be able to reset your PIN from the Merchant Portal. You will need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit to reset your PIN. Inactive Mobile User ID: After 30 days from last login session: Your Mobile User ID will be temporarily suspended. You will need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit via at TMU-MY@maybank.com.my to reinstate your Mobile User ID. You will not be required to change your PIN. After 60 days from last login session: Your Mobile User PIN will expire. You will need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit via at TMU-MY@maybank.com.my to reset your PIN. You will be prompted to go through the activation process again and choose a new PIN. After 90 days from last login session: Your Mobile User ID will be terminated. You may contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit to request for a new ID, however you may not reuse your previous address. 15

17 USING mpos 2.1 Accepting payments with mpos card reader 1 To accept a payment, first ensure your card reader is connected via Bluetooth to the phone/tablet, then log in to the mpos app using the Mobile User ID and User PIN. Click on Start Accepting Payments. Enter the amount to be charged. You can add a description for the transaction (optional). Click Pay Now. Confirm the payment amount when prompted. 2 The card reader will display the message Insert/swipe card. Insert/swipe card 17
18 USING mpos 2.1 Accepting payments with mpos card reader Insert/swipe card 3 Insert the credit card into the card reader with the chip side f irst. Click Continue PLATINUM Enter PIN: ****** 4 Once the credit card is verified, the card reader will display the message Enter PIN. Allow the customer to enter their PIN on the card reader s PIN pad in order to authorise the transaction. 18
19 USING mpos 2.1 Accepting payments with mpos card reader 5 If the PIN is successfully verified, the card reader will display the message Transaction Success. 6 To send an e-receipt, enter the customer s mobile phone number or address, or both. Click Send e-receipt. 7 Once the e-receipt has been successfully sent, the Thank You screen will be displayed. 19
20 USING mpos 2.2 View past transactions 1 All past transactions can be viewed by clicking on Sales History from the Home screen. Click on the sidebar menu icon on the top left corner of the Home screen to open up the sidebar menu. 2 You can search for specific transactions by using the last four digits of the card number, invoice number or approval code. Click on a transaction to view all the details of the sales transaction. 20
21 USING mpos 2.3 Void a transaction 1 To void a transaction, first click Sales History to view a list of unsettled transactions. You can only void unsettled transactions on the mobile app. 2 Scroll down the list of transactions to search for the transaction that you would like to void. You can also search for specific transactions by the last four (4) digits of the card number, invoice number or approval code. 3 Click on the transaction you would like to void, and then click on Void Payment. 21
22 USING mpos 2.4 Payment settlement 1 Click Sales History to view a list of unsettled transactions. Only the daily sales history of unsettled transactions will be available to view. Click on Settle Credit to settle all transactions. All unsettled transactions will be automatically posted for settlement at 11pm daily. 22

24 mpos MERCHANT PORTAL 3.1 Logging in to your mpos Merchant Portal account 1 The Maybank mpos Merchant Portal provides a platform to allow Merchants to manage and monitor their mobile users, web users, transactions, perform settlement and basic settings. Upon activation of your mpos service, you will receive an from Maybank which contains your Merchant ID and a hyperlink for first time login. You will also receive an SMS from Maybank containing your activation code for the Merchant Portal. If you have yet to receive this and SMS, please contact Maybank Terminal Management Unit via at TMU-MY@maybank.com.my To start the first time login process, click on the hyperlink in the from Maybank. You will be prompted to reset the password, and key in the activation code. Please key in the Merchant Portal activation code from the SMS you received from Maybank. Important: Please activate your Merchant Portal User ID within 30 days of receiving the activation and SMS. If you do not do so within 30 days, the activation code will expire, and you will need to contact Maybank s Terminal Management Unit at TMU-MY@maybank.com.my to restart the activation process. 24
25 mpos MERCHANT PORTAL 3.2 Using the mpos Merchant Portal Once you have successfully completed the first time login process, you can now start accessing the mpos Merchant Portal at 1 Home Here you can view a snapshot of the daily transactions for the day, broken down by Settled, Unsettled and Voided transactions. 2 Manage Mobile Users In this tab, you can search for and view Mobile User details, and monitor their transactions. You can also reset Mobile User PINs here for Mobile Users who have forgotten their PIN and have not exceeded the maximum of 3 unsuccessful sign-on attempts. 3 Readers In this tab, you can view and manage all the Card Readers associated with your account. You can also suspend Card Readers here. 25
26 mpos MERCHANT PORTAL 3.2 Using the mpos Merchant Portal 4 Transactions In this tab, you can view and manage all transactions. You can search for specific transactions by its Transaction ID, Merchant ID or Approval code. All the transaction details including transaction date and time, sales description, customer details and receipt details will be shown here. You can also view or download e-receipts, perform Void transactions and export transaction details in.csv format for reporting and analysis. 5 Credit Settlements Here you can view credit settlement summary. The status of each Batch of credit settlements will be shown here whether Successful, Unsuccessful, Pending or Processing. You can export details in.csv format. The settlement report for successfully settled Batches can also be downloaded in PDF format here. 6 Administrator In this tab, you can manage the users of the Merchant Portal including adding new users and suspending users. There are different Roles that can be assigned, with varying level of access Merchant User, Merchant Admin and Super Admin. 26
27 mpos MERCHANT PORTAL 3.3 Important things to note on your Merchant Portal User ID and password Please take note of the important points below regarding the validity of your Merchant Portal User ID and password.
