3 Experience and expertise Our product design, development and manufacturing facility which is still located in the UK, has been creating customised locking solutions that include keyswitches for over thirty years. Kaba Ltd works with customers to create tailor-made products based upon their specific needs, giving particular consideration to the environment in which the product is to operate in. We have the ability to take conceptual ideas from a client and produce working samples in a matter of days. We pride ourselves in our ability to work with our clients as a design partner, offering CAD design and development facilities for new and existing locking applications. Our experience and expertise has enabled us to recently introduce the Kaba Quattro plus cylinder system which is a patented, highly secure reversible key locking system and one of the first cylinder systems with Kitemark approval. Tested and approved by the BSI, Kaba Quattro plus meets BS EN 1303 requirements for Key Related Security Grade 6 and Grade 2 Attack Resistance, the highest levels in their respective categories. Like Kaba 20, Kaba Quattro plus is suitable for master key systems and keyed alike locking cylinders. The modular design ensures the cylinder core can be inserted into all cylinder types, and the strong reversible key provides ease and convenience of use. To further enhance the security and safety considerations often required with keyswitches we offer 12 different coloured key clips to provide identification between the key types. Kaba Keyswitch Kaba keyswitches provide solutions where secure control of switching is required. This brochure shows a wide range incorporating rotary and small switches to suit most applications. The Kaba system utilises high quality cylinder locks operated by the unique smooth Kaba dimpled key, being strong and reversible. The strong and robust Kaba 20 system is available with over 100 million key codes and lends itself to heavy duty applications, whilst the interchangeable core of the Kaba Quattro plus system allows it to be be retrofitted into most cylinder profiles as part of a master key system. Kaba keyswitches can be included in master key systems with other products such as camlocks, push button locks and padlocks to provide a high level of organisational control, with users required to only carry one key. The combination of switches, cylinders and key movements have been developed to meet the increasing needs for safety and security, controlling personnel, processes and equipment and monitoring activities. 6 Reference sites 6 Great Western Railway Guy s and St Thomas Hospital, London Nexus Tyne & Wear Metro, Newcastle Kaba were asked to provide a solution for an opening device for First Great Western s high speed trains that would ensure passenger safety when alighting the train at shorter platforms. A Kaba 20 keyswitch system was installed onto the trains allowing the Train Manager to control the automatic locking and unlocking device for the train doors. The Train Manager can stand at the last car level with the end of the platform and by simply inserting their Kaba key into the Kaba keyswitch they can prevent the carriage doors beyond the platform unlocking automatically with the rest of the train. Outside each lift on each floor, one of the Kaba key switches is positioned. Should a crash team, doctor or surgeon need to transfer a patient requiring urgent medical treatment to the relevant theatre or ward; they will have a key to operate the key switches. Once the key is turned in the key switch the lift will ignore all other requests made by the normal push buttons and go straight to that floor until the key is removed. For nearly thirty years Nexus Tyne and Wear Metro has been a user of Kaba security solutions. The infrastructure needs of the metro network are very dependent upon a reliable and adaptable system. 7 Registered key systems In order to ensure a high level of safety and security that is associated with our keyswitches every individual Kaba 20 or Kaba quattro plus cylinder, as well as every Kaba master key system is supplied together with a registration card containing the signature of the authorised person. This document determines the authorisation requirements for any subsequent key orders, thus providing an efficient protection against illegal repeat orders.
