5 Adding citations to My Bibliography Go to My Bibliography section and click on the Manage My Bibliography link. A new page will openclick on the Add citation button. From the drop-down menu, select the source of citations- Citations from PubMed in this example. Click on the Go to PubMed button. This will open a PubMed session. In this example, I will do a field search by author [au]. Click on the Search button. 5

8 Adding delegates Once logged into My NCBI account, click on your user name link at the top right corner of the page. This will open My NCBI Account settings page. Click on Add a Delegate link under Delegates section. Enter your delegate s address into the box and click on the OK button. The delegate will receive an asking for confirmation. 8

Access of delegates to My Bibliography and SciENcv can be controlled by checking the boxes. Likewise, delegates can be removed at any time by clicking on the box under Remove. 9

10 SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae SciENcv is a researcher profile system for those who apply for, receive or are associated with research funds from federal agencies. Log into myncbi, under the SciENcv section, click on the Click here to create a new CV link if you do not have any profile yet, or click on the Manage SciENcv link if you already have profiles there. You can edit/add information to your Mini Profile (box on top of the SciENcv page) by clicking on the edit link at the right bottom of this box. 10

11 Linking the SciENcv Mini Profile to your ORCDI id Publishers are beginning to ask for the author s unique ORCD id number when submitting a manuscript. The Mini Profile has the option to be linked to your ORCD id identifier. For this, click on the link Add your ORCD id to this profile? A new window will open. Sign in to ORCID or create a new ORCD id account. Once the ORCID is created, sign in and click on the Authorize button. 11

12 Your ORCID id will show on the Mini Profile box. Click on the Save button to save the change. 12

13 There are three options for creating a new profile in SciENcv From scratch From an external source; e.g. era, ORCID From an existing profile already on SciENcv In this example, we will create a profile From External source based on the new NIH biosketch format. Click on the link Create New Profile located under SciENcv Profiles. Select the tab From an external source. Enter a name for your new profile inside the box next to Name. Select the New NIH Biosketch from the drop-down menu as your profile format, and click on Create button. At the top of the new profile (blue box) you will see information on the profile itself (called metadata). You can change the profile Sharing settings at any time by clicking on the [Change] link. Please note that the system automatically input the era Commons ID ROLANDOMILIAN. 13

14 Click on the link add another degree/training under EDUCATION/TRAINING. Fill the form, select the degree/training from the drop-down menu, and click on Save or on the Save & add another entry button if you will continue to enter more education/trainings. Proceed in a similar way to add Position and Employment by clicking on the Please add one link under POSITION AND HONORS. Click on Save button after filling the form. 14

15 Add/edit your personal statement by clicking on the [Edit statement] link. Add the text of your statement in the box that will open and click on the Save button when you are finished. In addition, you can add up to four peer-reviewed publications to this section by clicking on the [Show/hide citations] link. Select those relevant publications and click on the Done button to apply the changes. 15

16 Edit your contribution to science by clicking on Add another contribution link under the section Contribution to Science. Check the box to include a link to the complete list of published work in My Bibliography. 16

17 Proceed to edit the Section RESEARCH SUPPORT. Click on the [Edit awards] link. The section will expand. Click on the User tab to see the awards associated to your era Commons account. Click on the Select All link or the awards you would like to appear on the biosketch. Click on [Done] to apply the changes. 17

18 When you are finished adding/editing your SciENcv profile. You can share it by clicking on the [Change] link next Sharing on top of the page. A URL will appear. You can also create a PDF or Word document of the profile by clicking on the PDF or Word link next to Download on top of the page.
