1 2018 Lynda Campus Users Guide This guide will assist you with integrating Lynda Courses into your Blackboard site INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES ITS TRAINING

3 LYNDA CAMPUS WHAT IS LYNDA CAMPUS? What is Lynda Campus? CCAC is a Lynda Campus which provides students and faculty access to the entire Lynda library Through this service, students and faculty have access to view thousands of on demand instructional videos on a diverse range of subjects Some subjects include, the latest software, creative skills, business skills, career prep, and much more Lynda Campus courses and video content can be linked or embedded into any Blackboard course Faculty and students can view the Lynda offerings through their all courses website: Accessing Lynda Campus through MyCCAC 1. Access Lynda Campus through the Quick Links in MyCCAC. This will log you into Lynda Campus Page 2 of 16

4 LYNDA CAMPUS LINKING LYNDA CONTENT Now that you are logged into Lynda, you can link Lynda content into your Blackboard site 1. Search for the software or skill you want to share with your students or mouse over Library to view the subjects 2. Browse through individual content and videos or preview an entire course Page 3 of 16

5 3. To link the video, click on the title of the video then click on Share located in the upper right corner. Click on Copy next to Share this video within your organization 4. Access a Blackboard course where the video will be linked 5. Click to access a Content Area where you wish to post your video a. Consider creating a new Content Area and link all of your videos in one place 6. Mouse over Build Content and click Web Link Page 4 of 16

6 7. Enter a name for the Web Link 8. Paste the copied URL from step 4 into the URL Box by pressing CTRL + V on the keyboard 9. Use the description text box to provide any additional information about the link 10. Click Submit a. Example setup Page 5 of 16

7 LYNDA CAMPUS EMBEDDING LYNDA CONTENT To embed Lynda content, you will access and search the courses as you did in the previous step 1. Search for the software or skill you want to share with your students or mouse over Library to view the subjects 2. You can browse through the content and even preview the course Page 6 of 16

8 3. To embed the video, click on the title of the video then click on Share located in the upper right corner. Click on Copy next to Embed this video 4. Access a Blackboard course where the video will be embedded 5. Access a Content Area where you wish to embed your video a. You can also consider creating a new Content Area and link all of your videos in one place 6. Mouse over your mouse on Build Content and click Item Page 7 of 16

9 7. Enter a name for the video 8. In the Content Information, click the HTML icon and the HTML code view page will display 9. Paste the URL you copied in Step 4 into the HTML code viewer. You can use CTRL+V to paste the URL 10. Click Update Page 8 of 16

10 11. Click Submit at the bottom of the Content Area to create embedded content 12. The embedded video will now display in your Blackboard course Page 9 of 16

11 LYNDA CAMPUS CREATING A CUSTOM COURSE IN LYNDA In Lynda Campus, you can create playlists, add videos to the playlist, and then remove or move content to customize the course. This custom course can be shared in a Blackboard course. 1. After accessing Lynda Campus through MyCCAC, click on your Name and then click on Playlist a. A Lynda playlist is a personal collection of custom content 2. Click on Create New Playlist Page 10 of 16

12 3. Enter a Name for the playlist and a description (optional). Click Create 4. To add videos to the playlist, perform a keyword search or mouse over Library to view the subjects Page 11 of 16

13 5. After locating a video, mouse over the thumbnail and click on the plus sign (+) 6. A window will open to the right of the Playlist created in step 3. Click the plus sign to add the video to that playlist 7. Click on your name in the upper right corner and click on Playlist 8. This will close the Add to menu and the video will display in the playlist 9. Click on Edit Playlist Page 12 of 16

14 10. Click on the video title 11. To remove an item, click the Disable this Item icon to remove that particular chapter from the video 12. Click Yes, Modify this Course to turn off modifications to the playlist. Students can make changes to it and this can avoid accidently adding other items a. This will prevent the content you chose from playing when the student launches it through Blackboard b. By doing this, you are able to shorten the length of the actual video and customize the video to meet learning needs 13. Continue this process until the video meets your needs 14. Click on the dots located on the left side of the video. Use can the drag and drop method by clicking and holding the left mouse button down and dragging to reorder the chapters a. Click on the plus sign to restore any hidden chapters Page 13 of 16

15 15. Click Done at the top 16. To link this video in Blackboard, click Make Public 17. After the playlist is public, click on Share 18. Click URL Link Page 14 of 16

16 19. The next box, highlight and copy the first link: Copy link for someone within Community College of Allegheny County 20. Access a Blackboard course where the video will be linked 21. Click a Content Area where you wish to post your video a. Consider creating a new Content Area and link all of your videos in one place 22. Mouse over Build Content and click Web Link 23. Enter a name for the Web Link 24. Paste the copied URL from step 4 into the URL Box 25. Use the text box under Description to provide any additional information about the link Page 15 of 16
