1 The following task will help you with Creating a Web Page 1. Go to and use your usual username and password to log on 2. Make sure you are working on the correct project by looking at the top of the navigation tree. To change projects, click on Projects at the bottom of the tree and select the correct project. As we are working on external sites today, the project should be Task 1 3. Click on the plus ( + ) next to the training folder 4. Select the folder for today s date (click the folder) 5. Click on New Content to start creating new content 6. Select Webpage and click Next Step (at the bottom) 7. Select Page 3 Column Template and click Next step 8. Enter a Title for your page into the Title field (make it fun! You will also need to remember it for Task 2) 9. You will notice that the other fields are automatically filled out for you. Click Finish Important Information: Your page has now been created! When creating content in the intranet area of the site there are three different types of template that you can use. When you set up your page make sure you choose the correct one. Public Viewable by everyone without logging on. Staff When logged in all University can view your content. Private Viewable by specific adf usergroup access or generic user name and password.
2 Now you have created a new webpage, this task will help you with Editing a Web Page 1. Click your newly created page and select Edit 2. Go to your PC desktop where you have saved your word document. If you haven t already downloaded the document, you can get it from: Task 2 3. Open up this document and copy the text from it Shortcut - (Ctrl + A then Ctrl + C will do this quickly for you) 4. Go back into Contensis and in the main green dotted box paste the copied content using the paste as text button to ensure that no formatting from word is carried into Contensis with the text. Shortcut - (Alt + Tab will allow you to quickly switch windows) 5. Once the text has been pasted into the box click Save. 6. You can now click Preview to view your page! Notes: Always save before you preview to see the most recent changes to the page. Left or right clicking on a page will allow you to edit For help: Service Desk: Online support:
3 Now you have created a webpage and started editing, this task will help you with: Adding a Hyperlink to a Contensis Page 1. From what you have learnt in the previous tasks, open your webpage for editing 2. To add a hyperlink, highlight the text that you want to be the link 3. In the navigator tree find the page you want to link Task 3 to 4. Click and hold your mouse on the page icon 5. Drag and drop the page icon onto the highlighted text 6. Save and Preview your page
4 Adding a Hyperlink to an External Page 1. From what you have learnt in the previous tasks open your webpage for editing 2. Highlight the text you want to be the link 3. To add a hyperlink click the Insert Hyperlink button Task 4 4. Select URL from the drop-down menu 5. Type in the URL for the page you want to link to (for example in the URL Address box 6. Select Save Selection 7. Once you are happy click Save and Preview Using the Insert Hyperlink button you can select; CMS Content To link to an internal webpage URL if you want to link to an external website i.e. BBC Link - if you want the link to send an

To add an image to the Contensis library, click on the Images folder in the Training folder in the Task 5 navigation tree and select New Content 3. Select Image 4. Browse to the picture you downloaded earlier. If you haven t already downloaded an image, you can get one from: 5. Select Next Step (at the bottom) 6. Enter a title and the alt text then select Finish Your image is now available for you to add to your page! The following sizes are recommended for images 3 column page main area max 460 pixel across, for right hand feature area 220 pixels across 2 column page max 660 pixels across News and Events 200x120 pixels
6 Task 5 cont. Now you have created a webpage and started editing it, this task will help you with Adding Images 1. Return to editing your page 2. Click on your page where you want to place the image 3. Click on the Image Library icon 4. Click the plus ("+") next to the Training folder 5. Click the Images folder 6. Click to Select the image you want to use 7. Click Insert Image into current web page and do one of the following: Select an existing version - Choose a version of the image already created by another user. Select image then click insert image Create a new version - Decide on the size you want the image to be and then click insert image Edit the image to fit the placeholder click on edit the image to go into the basic image editor If you have chosen to edit the image before you insert it you will be taken to a basic image editor. Here you can crop the image (by dragging using the crop tool to drag over the part of the image that you want to keep) or resize using the options on the right hand side. When finished select Save Alternate way to insert images: In the navigator tree find the image you want to insert Drag and drop the icon where you want it to appear Choose from the options
7 Now you have created a webpage and started editing it, this will help you with Adding Features Features include: Task 6 Video For main area of site use video Promos (these go in the right hand column of a 3 column page) Media gallery Single image feature Content Cupboard 1. From what you have learnt in the previous tasks open your webpage for editing 2. To add a feature select the Site Elements folder and then select the Features folder (click the + icon) 3. Select the MainContentColumn folder and Drag and Drop the video icon to where you want it on your webpage 4. Drag and Drop the video icon to where you want it on your webpage 5. Open a web browser and go to 6. Choose a video to link to and click the Share button 7. Copy the link that appears below 8. Paste it into the video control on your page. (Right click on the feature for control properties, tick the box next to External File) 9. Once you are happy click Save and Preview
8 Images: Additional Info Due to the way permissions are set up during training sessions you may not be able to use or view images in all areas of the site. If this happens try to find a picture in the images folder within training Adding Features: Please note: - if you are working on the external facing website you need to choose either the MainContentColumn folder or the RelatedFeaturesColumn folder depending on where you want to add your feature. For some features you will need to configure certain options by right clicking on the feature and selecting Control Properties. Further information: The webteam offer courses covering additional features of Contensis; you will receive s about these. For help with any problems, you should first speak with your weblead.
